The purpose of a KM Manager is to facilitate the use and access of all of the information, past and present, available within GDD. Knowledge can flow throughout the organization when effectively applied to all levels of an organization, individual, group, and community.  GDD's new KM Manager will contribute to the effective and sustainable business environment operations. The KM Manager will maintain their value within GDD by effectively promoting the capture of practical knowledge within the organization and ensuring the appropriate distribution among employees. To suit ever-changing business needs, the KM manager will consistently update and archive organizational knowledge as needed. As a KM Manager, job tasks include organizing knowledge content by ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timeliness. They will also determine the knowledge needs of employees and ensure the effective use of knowledge management programs. GDD has been facing numerous issues that have led to the hiring of a KM manager.  New employees cannot reference past business documents that would benefit their decision-making process.  GDD has been having customer satisfaction issues due to shipping delays caused by a glitch in the processing system between branches. Employees are hesitant to share new ideas due to a lack of a formal knowledge-sharing process. Employees are leaving GDD to work for competitors, leaving GDD without their valuable knowledge and experience.  Although KM programs utilize IT tools, IT cannot run the KM program. A KM Manager will ensure the effective use of these IT tools, such as content management systems (CMS). IT focuses on the function of CMS; however, the KM Manager will focus on developing methods to share, collect, and retain tacit knowledge and innovation (Milton, 2021).
