Step 1: Introduction
In physics, a centre of gravity is an imaginary place in a body of matter where the whole weight of the body may be believed to be concentrated for ease in certain computations. In a homogeneous gravitational field, the centre of gravity is the same as the centre of mass, as physicists prefer to call it.
The centre of gravity is defined as the point in a system or body where the weight is uniformly distributed and all sides are balanced. The centre of a seesaw is an example of a centre of gravity.

The plane is inclined at an angle of theta = 0 away from vertical, as shown in the diagram. Carts B and C are connected by an essentially massless string. Another massless string runs from Cart B over a massless and frictionless pulley to a hanging block, Block A.arrow_forwardQUESTION 4 As shown in the accompanying pictures, the Chi-Cheemaun (meaning "big canoe" in Ojibwe) is a passenger and vehicle ferry that runs between Tobermory (at the tip of the Bruce Peninsula) and South Baymouth on Manitoulin Island. ex If 140 vehicles each with an average weight (including passengers) of 18 kN are loaded onto the ferry while it is parked at the dock in Tobermory, how much farther will the ferry sink into Georgian Bay? For simplicity, you can assume that the bottom section of the ferry that is submerged in the water is essentially rectangular in shape with dimensions of 19 m in width and 111 m in length. - If the mass of the hanging-mass is increased and the mass of the cart remains the same, how would the steepness of the position versus t2 be affected? The best-fit line would decrease in steepness. The best-fit line would increase in steepness. Impossible to determine because the net force is not a part of the position vs t2 graph. There would be no change in steepness.arrow_forwardz- Closes - Sunday, 16th January Midnight (page 1 of 13) - Google Chrome gmit.ie/mod/quiz/attempt.php?attempt=D449467&cmid=349963 MIT The exercise machine is designed with a lightweight cart which is mounted on small rollers so that it is free to move along the inclined ramp as shown Two cables are attached to the cart-one for each hand. If the hands are together so that the cables are parallel and if each cable lies essentially in a vertical plane, determine the magnitude of the force P which each hand must exert on its cable in order to maintain an equilibrium position shown.
