In reviewing the essay, there are many errors I noticed. Overall, your writing lacks focus in regards to ideas, grammar, and spelling. I am no expert in any of these areas, but my ability to produce a coherent essay is demonstrated by the fact that I am nearly done with college. The goal of my essay is to guide you towards a better way of writing based on my prior experiences. A good essay in my experience is one that has three major components: structure, depth, and voice. Structure is the fundamental part of a good essay. One part of structure is a layout of what you are going to accomplish in your essay. Many people call this your thesis, but it is more than just one sentence. The layout of ideas helps both the reader and the writer create a piece of writing that is easy to follow and hopefully in return is easier to write. A way to start creating an in-depth essay is to think about who is going to read the paper. Remembering who the reader is allows the writer to hone into what details need to be expanded and what terminology to use. Proofreading and revising is a very crucial step in the writing process. If a person does not proofread then the essay they worked on may not make sense and may overall confuse the reader. For many students, writing an essay is not their strong suit, and I was one such student until this year. In middle and high school, I dreaded writing essays mainly because I despised how we were forced to follow a strict format to develop our ideas. The universal structure that I was taught included an introduction, 3 to 5 body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph. Even within each paragraph, we had to adhere to follow a strict outline. The introductory paragraph had to be written with an attention getter as the first sentence, followed by introductory details on the topic and a thesis that outlined the subject of each body paragraph. Body paragraphs had to start with a topic sentence that described the focus of the paragraph while connecting it back to the thesis. After the topic sentence, claims and supports should follow. The conclusion should restate the thesis without copying it verbatim from the thesis; in addition, as you restate the thesis, you should include some of the details discussed in the body paragraphs. Finally, you end the conclusion by connecting the focus of the paper to something greater.
