When beginning to write an essay everyone has their own method of doing so. Some may like to brainstorm while others may prefer to go straight into writing about their topic. I personally beginning every essay by collecting ideas about my topic before coordinating them into a type of diagram, next I proceed to do my rough draft before revising over the paper and finally composing my final draft. The point of the writing process is to help break everything down so ideas can be organized and everything can make perfect sense for not just the writer but also the reader.

They think since they have all their ideas put together that there is not a reason to write then re-write their essay. I find that idea to be completely absurd. I like to write a rough draft before writing my final copy because sometimes I will see that I have too much information listed and the essay kind of just drags on instead of being enjoyable to read. Other times it is the complete opposite and my essay lacks a lot of knowledge and design. But even after writing a rough draft there is still one more step that needs to be done before the final copy can be turned …show more content…
Proofreading and revising is a very crucial step in the writing process. If a person does not proofread then the essay they worked on may not make sense and may overall confuse the reader. Using correct punctuation shows how sentences are supposed to be read. Once I have made sure all my sentences are grammatically correct I then compose my final copy of the essay. My first step in the writing process has remained relatively the same. I begin by reading the assignment sheet, and then begin brainstorming topics that I could use for the essay. Usually I come up with two or three ideas for me to explore, in case one topic does not have enough information to turn into a good paper. After thinking of a few ideas, I pick one idea that I think is the best, and I try to come up with a basic outline of the paper. Then, I search on Google and read a few articles that I find to see what information is available on the topic and how I can use the information in my paper. It is at this point where I decide whether or not to go ahead with the topic depending on what I find. If I continue on, I widen my search to databases and focus on more credible internet
My writing process, no matter what, always includes brainstorming, rough drafts and proofreading. When I receive an assignment I read the question over what feels like a million times till I fully understand what it is asking. I will make notes on the handout and as soon as ideas come to my mind i will jot them down, even if I do not end up using them. As soon as I get ideas i role with it, even if I have to go back in the end and change everything. Rough drafts come next. I like to write them out first so i can scribble and make notes to myself and fill things in when i need to. I write in pen so sometimes by drafts can be more rough then they should be, but that is how i like it. After my essay is all finished I proofread, many many times.
I am accustomed to starting my essays by generating ideas. I like to take a sheet a paper and write down everything that comes to mind when I think of a certain subject. Next, I would do an extensive amount of research on the subject to make sure that I know enough about the subject to write a complete paper about it. Now that the research stage is done, I would then commence on writing my rough draft using the
Initially, a writer should do an outline before starting any essay. An outline can help to organize his or her main points in order to build an introduction, body and conclusion. This method of pre writing was something that I had never been exposed to prior to receiving an example outline from Professor Vilceus. By studying the example, I went from zero knowledge about an outline to creating ones that made arranging essay material uncomplicated.
Outline, planning, revising, rough and final draft, grading. This is the typical process for writing an essay, I however as a young high school student never followed this. I started with an idea in my head and go on from there. I never considered a need to plan and prepare an outline, just to write a rough draft that I would have to revise, draft, and draft again. It would just be easier to start writing the final draft first right? No. This class has taught me many strategies on how to accustom my writing to a college level. Ever since I was young, English has always been one my least favorite subjects throughout school because I did not enjoying writing. Writing always frustrated me because it seemed so time consuming. But as I grew older I came to the realization that writing papers are not as hard as we set it out to be. If you formulate a method to how you will complete the paper, and follow through with it, it makes the entire process so much easier. For example, for all the students who procrastinate with their assignments until the day before it is due. Think about all the time and effort you have to put fourth to complete an entire paper in one day. Imagine how much less effort it would take to simply start working on the assignment at least four days before the required due date. You would only have to spend an hour or two a day to complete the entire essay. All you have to do is develop a plan as to what you want to accomplish each day and a writing strategy to following while writing. Throughout my English courses I have assembled my own writing strategies, and the first step to writing a good essay is pre-writing.

This process not only makes writing essays less stressful while also getting the paper done quickly.

When coming up with ideas for an essay I enjoy using the prompts that Mrs. Brantley gives because they help a little, but in the end I tend to just start writing. I look at my computer waiting for an idea to come to mind. After stressing to try to come up with an essay idea it will finally come to me, and I just start writing. Sometimes I will write out multiple paragraphs and realize that there is no way I can actually create an essay with with the topic I have chosen and then I will start over. Many times the writing exercises that we do in class start off the percolating of ideas, that will end up becoming my essay.
"The writing process, the way I go about it is I do whatever the beat feels like, whatever the beat is telling me to do. Usually when the beat comes on, I think of a hook or the subject I want to rap about almost instantly. Within four, eight bars of it playing I 'm just like, Oh, OK. This is what I wanna do '." (Eminem). To me this quote means just to go along with what you feel and be creative. Everyone has a different way of writing and talking and that 's what makes them unique. When I first get a writing assignment my reaction tends to be mad or annoyed. The right way to write an essay is to start with an environment that I feel comfortable with, how I complete my essays, and my overall process.
