There are many reasons one obtains a job. But, when it comes to being a full-time student, it becomes a battle between want and need. I believe attaining a job while being a full-time student is a not the right success move. As the economy worsens, the demand for a job increases. For some students, working in college is a necessary, while for others, it is just a desire. However, it is important to know the pros and cons of working while in college before balancing the task of both. From experience, I know college work can be gruesome and requires a lot of concentration. Therefore I am against working during school because of the distraction and unsuccessfulness it may bring.
School, in itself, requires a lot of a student’s free time. Whether

I think we should spend our time enjoying our adolescence, before we miss it. During the 1900s, it was expected for one to get an education, learn a trade and start working immediately. But, times have evolved, children are striving to go to college and graduate school in order to make a comfortable living for themselves. I remember being a freshman in high school wanting a job. In all cases having a job while in school is not a negative thought. In the case of college students, I find it different being that your college classes revolves around the schedule you make and sometimes it is needed for the expenses of college. College students may have to fend for themselves whether it is to pay tuition, dorming fees, loans, meal plans, or books. Having a part-time job may help alleviate or at least balance the dent in your bank account for college. If your schedule allows you time to go to school, maintain a job with a good enough salary and free time, all is
Alene Semuels is a writer for The Atlantic, and formerly wrote for The Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The author's purpose for writing this article was to inform college students and the public about opportunities to work while in college. Also it shows college students that working a full time job might not be the wisest thing to do while attending college full time. When this article was written, there was a new trend beginning to arise. In 2015, Georgetown University did a study of students who worked while in college. They found that 70 percent of students were employed while in college and 25 percent of those students are working full time while simultaneously going to college full time. Both the Chicago Tribune and CNBC wrote articles about the findings in the Georgetown study. Putting these things together, Semuels felt persuaded to talk about the topic from two
Jobs won’t only support teens for the things they want, but it can help benefit for the things they need. The first things teens think of for their future are going to college and getting their first car. But, let’s say there’s a well educated thirteen-year-old, raised in a low-income family, who has plans on going to college.
Employment can have a positive effect on my learning because it motivates me to do the best I can so that I can achieve my career goals. It would also benefit me because if I was employed with a part time job, I could have money that I would buy nice things with. I enjoy luxury things so by getting a snippet of what I can buy with the money I’m already earning can be a motivator for me to do well so that I can get a proper job and earn a lot more money which means having nicer things which I would enjoy and be my reward for doing well.
I intend on applying for a part time job in Lubbock in order to support any left over financial needs that I might have, as well as applying for financial aid. We live in a society where roles are reversed, and where people wants fast and efficiency. At the age of fifteen or younger, many young adults have children. Also, many young adults are the acting parent for their siblings. These teens are without experience searching for a job to improve their situation. With the opportunity of a job, they have the funding to take care of their child/children, or their
In this essay I will explain the causes and effects of why a high school student should or should not have a job during high school. Whether they should have a job while being in school or if they should not. Maybe they can’t focus on school so they should probably quit if they have one. They might need time for school work after school they should just focus on school.
In today’s society it’s becoming more common for teenagers to work, but with that comes the question of ‘Is working in high school beneficial?’. Working while in high school is the most beneficial opportunity a student can have. More and more teens are finding part time jobs, these jobs are helping them build basic skills and experience which are used later in life once they have finished school and it gives them a chance to earn money and become independent.
There is so much more to life than working but if you're not willing to work hard in the beginning then your whole life you will do nothing but work. I started working for Kistler Tire & Auto when I was 15 and maintained that job for almost two years. Working at a young age changes your personal appearance towards others and helps build a great responsibility that a lot of kids understand. I have an older sister, younger twin brothers, my mom and my dad who recently passed away from pancreatic cancer. None of them could have been more proud of me for working hard for what I want at such a young age.

Nowadays, students love to have part-time jobs. Their parents approve it easily as they are said to gain experience from working. However, having a job is a big responsibility for a student. Before, teenagers at their age were working to help their family because of poverty. Nevertheless, they were actually eager to study and learn at school for their future. It was not the same as the teenagers nowadays where they are more likely competing to each other to have a job. Most of the
Most university students feel the necessity of working since they would like to have their own money in order to be independent from their parents. It is not the exception for International students because they also feel the necessity of working to be independent from their parents or whoever is responsible for them. However, for international students to work in the United States it is very difficult because they are only allowed to work on campus. These kinds of jobs are very limited since some of the campuses in which they study are very small. Also for an international student to find a job on campus is difficult because people prefer to employee an American student who is not going to have any problem speaking the language. For example, last semester a friend from Venezuela who is studying at Miami Dade College decided that he wanted to get a job in order to have his own money. He went to
I, being employed with a part-time job, truly do believe that there is no wrong in having a part-time job while being a student. I honestly think that it is an awesome, great idea for students to have part-time jobs before they graduate from high school -- if they have the time and resources to do so. Students who are responsible, or learn responsibility, have nothing to loose but all to gain by having a job. There are a few key points that prove students having part-time jobs is an awesome concept which I am going to point out.
Hundreds of students enter college every year unaware of the many responsibilities they will have aside from their schoolwork. These responsibilities include getting a job and learning how to support yourself (now without the help of a legal guardian). This could pose as a challenge for those who have never worked a day in their lives and have relied on family members to support them financially. Students should work throughout high school because it teaches them how to properly interact with other people, how to balance finances, and how to take pride in their work.
With the development of the society, students in China and the U.S.A. want to find a part-time job while they are studying. Maybe they think that they can manage themselves. But in different countries, students have different attitudes working part-time job. I will make a distinction between China and the U.S.A. for students’ attitudes finding part-time job. To the college students, taking part-time job has become a part of the college students’ life. The most direct reason of this phenomenon is that employment becoming more difficult after graduation. College students
Work! Work! Work! Work! In today’s society, teenagers are seeking jobs to earn money even though they have school. Sometimes they are forced to get a job because they need to help their parents for their financial problems. It is very common to teenagers to get a job at a young age. It did not really change back then about children’s working at such a young age when they should be focusing on their education. Getting a job is everyone’s dream because they can earn money and get experiences. Avery Neumark quote says that, “ Never too early to start. Anything can happen any time,” this quote relates to teenagers because they need the head start to do something in life. Sometimes the job that they have pushes teenagers to do their best. Working early has both positive and negative impact to young adults. However, that is their only way to survive in this world is to get a part-time job to at least help them. Having a job help teenagers to be on time to avoid consequences, expansion of knowledge, and realize the reality of life.
