(Select a creative work- a novel, a film, a poem, a musical piece, a painting, or other work of art- that has influenced the way you view the world and the way you view yourself. Discuss the work and the effects it has on you. ) Life brings us challenges that either break us, or build us mentally and/or physically. They are inevitable. I read a book entitled A Piece of Cake. The title is quite ironic, this book gave the perfect example of life's difficulties from a first person perspective. Hence the reason why it had such a huge impact on my own way of viewing life. It took me on a journey of lugubrious events and miraculous achievements. Cupcake Brown lost her mother at a very young age. Her biological father refused to take charge …show more content…
The challenges she faced were absolutely devastating. She overcome these obstacles, and that gives me the motivation on never giving up. Her story demonstrates that truly anything is possible, regardless of your background, ethnicity, etc., there is always hope. If you really set your mind to it, you can move mountains. A huge theme in this story is drugs and alcohol. Everyday more and more young people are exposed to drugs. Addictions are deadly. Also, education is essential. It is powerful to be educated. Many people take education for granted, and that is wrong. After reading this book, my outlook on education has changed drastically. Education gives us the knowledge to understand the world around us, not only that but to understand ourselves as well. My future depends on my education. In brief, Cupcake has a mesmerising story. It gave me hope and motivation to keep moving forward in life.It helped me understand that it is okay to makes mistakes and to embrace our flaws. Self- love, being educated, staying away from drugs, being grateful for what we do have in life is key. Life will never be easy, but that is what makes humans prodigious. Her story gave me inspiration to be educated so that I can one day make a change in the world for the
Some people might like education, others might dread it and really don’t see a reason to continue learning about it. Today, for teachers and professors it’s easy to them to tell how the education they teach is effective for an individual student. As we know, education is being taught at school, home, and a little of both. For America today, most children attend preschool, kindergarten, elementary, middle school, high school, and college. Depending on the pupil's career choice, it can take up to 20 or more years completing their schooling system, Usually, during the middle and or high school years in America, professors teach you valid things pupils will be using in life.
Thus, as many people were unable to go to school later in life they turned to drugs for comfort and to forget their problems. The main theme in this story is the idea that anyone’s destiny or

Jeannette wanted the readers to comprehend why alcohol is an issue in society and the harm and dangers that comes their way. Leaving Jeannette’s family in total despair because of their father under possession of alcohol. Alcoholism is an issue in society and to this day the issue hasn’t been resolved. Ergo discussing the topic to children as well as teenagers will not resolve the issue but will raise awareness. As well as fiction can teach the young minds that alcoholism is an issue and can encourage them to put a stop to it.
I decided to write my final paper on Koren Zailckas Smashed: A Story of a Drunken Girlhood. A memoir based on a young 14 year old girl who drinks for the first time with her friend Natalie before a birthday party. Her experiences with alcohol doesn’t stop there. We learn that she gets her stomach pumped at age 16, and at age 22, wakes up in an apartment in New York City unsure of where she is, because of alcohol. After this, she realizes that she has a problem and that she needs help. I chose this book as the topic of underage drinking and alcohol abuse is constantly rising in our society today. It is a problem that many youth kids are facing, and this book perfectly describes a young girls story about her addiction with alcohol and the many poor decisions she makes.
Education is the most vital part of man’s existence. The concept of education started in the ancient days and continues to the modern age. Education has existed before this current age, but modern education has been labeled as the most significant part of any possible profession. This assumption is not making waves in the United States of America only, but in the whole world wide. Despite the unique and distinct languages that exist throughout the world, young and developing minds still seek education and new knowledge as technology keeps changing. Education is the backbone and the platform in which we build and develop our own unique ideas that has become
Many who read this prompt may believe it will have no impact on readers to value education anymore. What is false about that statement, or wrong, is that even if it may not pursue them it will pursue others. Even if one was pursued in the world this article would be successful. The author did a tremendous job describing his endeavors within a horrible workplace by relating it to how much he truly believed schooling was important and worth whatever difficult tasks it took to get through

In her family she was the only one to continue her education past high school. Hearing what it took to make this happen was incredible. When I was in grade school both my grandmother and grandfather took it upon themselves to make a college education account for all us grandkids. They didn’t want to see us struggle like they had to.
Education is any person’s key to success. Without education, individuals can’t reach their fullest
Today, education enables us to enlarge our knowledge and open doors for opportunities to the path of having a good future. In the five readings, each written by a different author, there was a lesson learned and something to take away from each one. Reading through the passages by Mann, Moore, Malcolm X, Gatto, Rose, and Anyon, each author contributed his or her point of view on general public education. This topic can be very argumentative depending on the quality of education people receive. Education today is the single most important mean for individuals to achieve their personal goals in the workforce.
With proper education, it can help shape an individual's future; education is the foundation of the way of life today, it is needed and required everywhere in the world. Those who strive to be employed, make money, or do something great in the future has to rely on education to get them there. Education is mandatory to become an engineer, doctor, teacher, astronaut etc.; the skill required to be able to do any type of work is gained from learning the basics and having a clear understanding of it. An individual's success depends mainly on their talent and hardwork. Although we rely on education, we as well rely on that individual's strength, determination, and perseverance. Every individual are each a diamond in the rough and should be well taken care
Yet even with these realizations that delve into the deeper meaning of education, modern education is still calling for simple measurable outcomes and continues to be geared towards specific employment ideas. This model of education is blatantly inadequate though. Many students today will end up holding jobs not yet invented in fields not yet discovered, so the teaching of answers to today’s questions is utterly useless. Albert Einstein once said, “Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.” and this statement reigns true throughout time. To continue academic success, the education system needs to impart a mastery of one’s own mind that allows students to not only answer current questions but also to pose questions that will shape the future world.
Acquiring education is one of the most critical aspects of a person’s life. It should be seen as vital as the air we breathe. The key to a healthy mind and a successful person is learning. “Without education, you’re not going anywhere in this world” is a famous quote by Malcolm X. His quote reiterates that the competitive world makes it essential for us to have a proper education since it will serve as our weapon to conquer the world. Education will help a person grow as an individual because a highly knowledgeable person will have a better grip on handling any problem that comes his or her way. Literacy is the foundation of what we are as individuals. Every decision we make, as well as our thought process, is the basis of what we know.
Education is the very foundation in which we as individuals grow, and formulate the knowledge we gain through life into meaningful ways of adapting to the world.
