Why I would like to be a LT Since I was in eighth grade I have attended every SLTP conference that I could as possible. I love the atmosphere and the way I feel when I am here! SLTP has helped me grow into the person I am today. This out of the many reasons is why I would love to be a LT! Completing the highest level (TLC) this summer, I have done a lot of self reflection on how much I’ve changed since the first time I walked into Davis Hall. SLTP has challenged me to become the person I want to be and should be. I used to think that leaders were the people that were the loudest or who held positions. After coming to my first year of camp I quickly learned that leaders lead by example and that they walk their talk. This helped me to identify
“His listeners are said to have groaned and screamed in terror and Edwards stopped several times to ask for silence.” Jonathan Edwards wrote “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” as a way to express how Puritans were not living the way God wanted them to. They were not going to church daily and those who were, thought that, that was all they had to do to get into Heaven. Edwards gave very detailed views on how easy it would be to be cast down into a pit of eternal damnation as well as how you should pray for God’s mercy so you can have a glorious salvation. Edward’s ferocious use of extended metaphor and pathos swayed his audience into fearing what the afterlife held for them if they were to not repent their sins.
By definition a leader is a person who leads or commands a group however, I believe a leader should be a person who inspires his team excel in the worst of conditions. A leader should be extraordinary reliable as the team should know that the leader could guide them to the best of his abilities toward their goal. A leader should be persistent as they should be the motivational force leading the group. A leader should be patient and calm knowing that quality takes time and that the individual member of his team have obstacles to overcome on their own part.
When we think of leadership, what comes to mind? Is it the bold, charismatic, and passionate person who takes the group on their back? Or is it really the more quiet and realistic leader who has a compromising attitude? Most people will think of a loud and passionate person who can grab the attention of an audience. But leaders come in all shapes and sizes. Leadership is defined by dictionary.com as the ability to guide or influence others to achieve a common goal. Although the term leader is used in our everyday lives, many people mistake it for close synonyms. Not all leaders have to be the boisterous, bold, and burly people that most people think of them to be. More often than not, a leader will be the commanding one in the group. But there
The idea of leadership has been around for centuries. Ever since the beginning there has always been a sense of who is on top and who is not. On a similar note, a leader is somebody who people follow or somebody who guides or directs others.
A leader is someone who is in charge. They have control over a certain amount of people.
What does it mean to be a leader? Is a leader someone who can take control when a firm hand is needed? Or perhaps it is the man who is willing to stand up for what he believes in. I used to think of leaders as impressive and impeccable meta-humans. They were men and women who I thought were simply cut from a different cloth and beyond someone like me. Now I believe that a true leader, is that special someone who is willing to get up early and start making breakfast. I believe the hero takes the two-minute walk to find fresh water. During my time at NOLS Patagonia I was able to tune into what it truly meant to lead your peers. When I entered college with the mindset of tackling freshman year, I found myself unprepared for the workload.
What is a leader to you? Is it someone you trust? Is it someone you like? Well, I think a leader is intelligent, brave, and sacrificial. I also think that Odysseus is an example of a great leader.

Sports hold tremendous value in American society and all athletes have at least one thing in common: the risk of getting a concussion. A concussion is a traumatic brain injury (TBI) that results from a direct/indirect action or force that causes the brain to shake rapidly within the skull (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2016). This injury can mildly or severely affect the brain’s function by damaging brain cells and producing chemical alterations (CDC, 2016). Throughout the years, concussions have been more prevalent not only in professional sports, but among youth, college, and recreational sports as well. Despite the remarkably high statistics on concussions in the U.S., many cases still go unreported (Groce & Urankar, 2016, p. 22). Sustaining this injury can significantly set a person back physically, mentally, and emotionally. Due to the risks and health issues associated with concussions doctors, athletic trainers, coaches, and lawmakers are getting involved to protect athletes of all levels from receiving concussions.
A leader is someone who stands out among his or her peers and is chosen to be placed into a position that requires setting an example and providing direction for that group. Although anyone can be chosen as a leader, he or she must be willing and deserving of this position.
Hello, my name is Brendan Sherwin, I am 16 years old, and currently attends West Hills High School as a junior. I am that benevolent student that everyone goes to for help or goes to be their partner in group projects. I am a leader to many and a great friend to others. I am currently thinking about joining military, but at the same time I want to save lives. So I decided to join the military sector in health care is the best way to go, in the military leadership earns respect. Besides getting respect, I would like to get the satisfaction of helping those that have risked their lives for this beautiful country of ours, so this is my way of giving back to them. So I want to become a Navy Neurosurgeon. I feel that with my leadership, determination,
Following the Civil War, many Americans chose to settle west of the Mississippi river and shaped a distinct culture in this region. Generations later, this fascinating culture was transformed into the Wild West, a romanticized version of the lifestyle, to entertain the masses. The romanticized perception of the Wild West differs extensively from the reality of western settlement, but in some aspects mirrors the true western lifestyle in the post-Civil War period. Native Americans and cowboys, for instance, are portrayed rather inaccurately in the romanticized adaptations of the West, while the images of towns and settlements are similar in both the mythological Wild West and the reality of the western experience.
When I think of a leader I look back on how many people in my life that have helped me to get where I am today. My parents are authority figures in the sense that they are the ones that showed me right from wrong. There are the administrators that helped me along my way with school and completing all of the work that I needed to in order to make my way in this long road called life. Finally there are the instructors that have shown me the ways on how to become a leader myself. When I think of the word leader I do not think of myself right away, but now that I have taken on different roles in my life I have realized that maybe just maybe that I could become my own leader.
What comes to mind when you hear the word leader? Martin Luther King, Jr., John F. Kennedy? According to Webster's Dictionary, a leader is "one who leads." After participating in the Leadership Program, I have learned that a leader is hard to summarize.
A leader is someone that puts everyone before themselves and tries their problems like Malcolm x or like martin Luther king a leader is what we need to get what we want in life the reason why I say this is because nowadays some people are misguided and end up going with white people.
