Environmental Impact of Hybrid Vehicles Today the use of Hybrid vehicles is growing all over the world, these vehicles are supposedly better for the environment, by lowering greenhouse gas emissions. But what if, these vehicles cause more pollution than their standard automotive counterpart? Would you be so inclined to own one?
Hybrid Vehicles
A Hybrid vehicle is a vehicle that has the ability to operate not only on an internal combustion engine, but also an electrical power source, normally a high voltage battery pack. The vehicle can be what is considered a Full Hybrid, a vehicle that operates solely off of its electrical battery pack, like the new Tesla and totally electric Ford Focus and Nissan Leaf. Another type of Hybrid vehicle is referred to as a Partial Hybrid. Therefore, Partial Hybrid vehicles are classified as a vehicle that has the ability to operate not only off of its internal combustion engine, but also on its electrical power source alone, or a combination of the two power sources together to propel the vehicle down the road.
