“Tuesday of the Other June” is a short storynovel written by Norma Fox Mazer. The main character, June T, is a modest girl who only lives with her mother in a small town. But one day, she meets a bully named June M who bullies her excusing that she has the same name. This story clearly tells about bullying, and that the author believes that “You should stand up for yourself to stop bullying.”
The idea of standing up for yourself is certainly described by in the conflict and the resolution. The conflict of this story is June T getting bullied by June M and not standing up for herself in swimming class. However, the resolution happens when June T stands up for herself at school. June didn’t stand up for herself to not disappoint her mother who always insisted,
“"It's just you and me, two women alone in the world, June darling of my heart; we have enough troubles getting by, we surely don't need a single one more, so you keep your sweet self out of fighting and all that bad stuff. People can be little-hearted, but turn

By connection, it means that I have my own personal experience, world issue I heard from the news, and information I read from books and watched from movies. Based on my own personal experience, when my friend was bullied it only made the situation worse whenever she didn’t stand up for herself because it made the bullies think that the bullied person is not strong enough to fight back. Also, in personal education textbooks that the school gave me in first grade, it showed that you should stand up for yourself when you are bullied because it might lead to a lack of self-confidence. Lastly, I read a newspaper article that people tend to lose self-confidence if they do not stand up for themselves at the very beginning point because in the worst case, people might even commit suicide. For that reason, I strongly believe that standing up can stop
An example of Katie standing up for others is on page 62 when Shane slams Will onto a locker and no one wanted to help him. There were many bystanders at the scene, but nobody took action. Katie stood up for Will towards Shane. This also proves how she is sympathetic of how a victim feels when getting bullied, and how important it is for someone
Conflict is one of many challenges in everyday life. It is presented to us in many ways such as trying to figure out how to get your homework done on time, finding a way to win the football game, or something just as simple as trying to get out of doing your chores. However, there are times in everyone's life where your conflict is beyond the norm. These could include standing up to your school bully, trying to save someone’s life, or as many would say the greatest conflict in human history, the Nazis rise to power. There are many ways to solve a conflict in general no matter how morally wrong it is. However, history has shown time and time again that the best way to solve a conflict is to stand up to it while also
"What's the matter with me? Ain't I got a right to talk to nobody?” This shows how she is lonely and she has nobody to talk to. She may be stopped to talk to anyone because of her husband. This shows how women were lonely back then.
“He wasn’t a coward like me,”” This shows me the conflict is man vs. self because it tells the reader Joey’s thoughts. He wants to stand up for himself and not be a coward like he thinks he is. This conflict helps to drive the plot of the novel because it causes Joey to be willing to leave Lake Windsor Down Middle. He does not like the fact that people are making fun of him and his brother.
This proves that even in the first few days of swim class, June struggled with bullying from the other June. Another way that June struggles with bullying from Mean June is that mean June calls her names. In paragraph 40 mean june is calling June a series of names such as Fish Eyes, Buffalo Brain, and Turkey Nose. In paragraph 18 mean June names June fish eyes because she is not allowed to use her name. This shows that part of June’s bullying is name calling.
The conflict in this short story is about man vs man, man vs society and man vs self. Man vs man is portrayed through the bullies and Mickey, man vs society is struggling with identity and man vs self is the struggle with inner self power.
When in the course of human events, it becomes imperative to shake off the bands of repeated name-callings and falsely given identities which have been connected for so long, and to assume that the playing field is once again even, giving your undivided attention and respect to the opinions of the unheard and abandoned as they state why they have decided to stand up against the bullying and how they plan to write how to isolate themselves from bullying altogether.
“I couldn't joke about the person who'd saved me from facing absolute heartbreak at home, who fed my family boxes of sweets, who ran to me worried that I was hurt if I asked for him. A month ago, I had looked at the TV and seen a stiff, distant, boring person-someone I couldn't imagine anyone loving. While he wasn't anything close to the person I did love, he was worthy of having someone to love in his life.”
The central conflict in the story has a large part to play in influencing the development experienced by Connor, which consequently reveals the theme; that in rough situations, life is worth the fight. In this case, the conflict between the societal law of
Imagine your friend is being bullied at school in front of you, but you do not speak up. We usually notice a lot of circumstances where students have the fear of standing up in front of a huge crowd or defending themselves. One should feel comfortable defending and/or advocating for their own ideas in the classroom. To express your opinion and yourself is critical to learning in the classroom. In Carlo Rotella’s article, “Silent Students Shortchange Themselves, and Others,” Rotella encourages students to speak up because they have useful thoughts that benefit the class. This is crucial, especially with bullying, in which those who are bullied need encouragement. Students should be assertive to speak up and stand up for themselves against bullying
To the man who left her because her depression was unfair to him, she wrote this one for you.
It all began with a simple phone call one night after dinner, “Joe,” my father hollered up the stairs, “it’s for you. It’s Jackie, and she sounds upset.” As I came downstairs to pick up the phone, I was not happy. I was tired and had looked forward to a nice quiet evening at home, not another stupid adventure with Jackie.
“Sunday in the Park” By Bel Kaufman is a story centered around bullying. The story highlights ideas like the parents’ impact on their children, a kid’s role in their parents’ life and how everyone plays their role in a family. In a family, parents should be the role models for their children, which means raising them to be a responsible and caring person. This means that parents should also make the right choices in front of their kids, showing them what’s right and what’s wrong. “Sunday in the Park” by Bel Kaufman shows how a parent’s choice will influence their child and the values a child will grow up with.
In the short story, “Seventh Grade”, the conflict is internal. Victor is facing himself on how to impress a girl in his grade, Teresa. At first, Victor had scowled at a few girls to see if the tactic that his friend taught him would work. He found that the girls looked at him and smiled. He also tried to speak French and bump into her. Specifically, in this situation, I believe that there is no winner in one way, but a winner in another way. Victor’s conflict in his own mind was resolved when he did impress her by pretending he knew how to speak French, but, on the contrary, Victor will constantly try to impress Teresa more. He would try to up himself every time and never really be satisfied. Victor does not have a winner or loser in this conflict. In the long term, there is no winner. In the present, Victor won this
The theme of “Tuesday of the Other June” is to do something to stop the conflict before it is too late. June T. has been called multiple names, physically and mentally harassed by students, and suffered every day of the week due to her. So, One day, June T. quit swimming class and moved to a new neighborhood since her mother got a new job, but she soon realizes she is now living in June M.’s neighborhood and goes to June M.’s school.
