Truck Narrative

On 6Mar18 at 1114 hrs. I, Deputy Halbasch, was dispatched to Co Rd 18 near the lake access to Boulder Lake for a traffic accident.

Lee Brice wrote “I Drive Your Truck” for a father that had lost his son in the war saving fellow soldier. Paul Monti explains that the song is about the absence of Jared. Paul had an operation called Flags for Vets that on every Memorial Day people go put flags on the graves of the fallen soldiers. Jared's dad still drives his truck, he says it reminds him of Jared and that he likes being in there because it gives him special and peaceful feeling. Paul says that losing your kid is as if you have lost your future and that there's this kind of pain that never goes away or never heals, he continues to say that freedom isn't really free, it's paid for by the blood of the young men and women that serve.

For my Senior project, I've been working on a custom restoration of a 1977 dodge power wagon d150 while expanding my knowledge of mechanical work. I wouldn't have been able to do any of this without my amazing father who has immensely helped throughout the project and taught me new skills. The ultimate goal is to improve on the truck and its general qualities while also enhancing its off-roading capabilities.

In Drive (2011, Nicolas Winding Refn), a noir, grime ridden Los Angeles diegesis is created which juxtaposes with the relationship between the protagonist and his romantic interest. Especially in the elevator scene between the two characters and a nameless thug, this seems to both create romanticism and a brutal world. This juxtaposition is apparent in the elevator scene, in which the Driver (Ryan Gosling) protects his love interest Irene (Carey Mulligan) in their final scene together from a thug in the elevator they're in who is sent to kill them. I will be specifically detailing the extract from the moment the camera cuts to the elevator to the ending of this scene.

I chose this song because it reminds me of my brother who has passed away. he always called our vehicle his truck. The theme of the song is how much the singer misses his brother and how he feels closer to him when he is in his truck. The speed at which death can come is shown by the little stuff he notices about the truck. Driving the truck helps him to deal with the loss of his brother “People got their ways of coping Oh, and I’ve got mine I drive your truck”.

I was heading south on North Oakley Boulevard there was a parking spot in front of Precence Hospital . I pulled into the driveway and then started to back out of the driveway to the street to park in the open spot when another vehicle traveling south made a three point turn causing our vehicles to collide. There is damage to my rear bumper and, driver’s side wheel well.

My first vehicle is an 2001 Toyota Prius, a well loved car that is almost always dirty inside. My Prius holds a dear spot in my heart and I believe the car is the reason hybrids mean so much to me. My interest on hybrids began when my father once told me that one must think of hybrids as a computer with four wheels. Anytime my car broke down, the first thing I would do is turn the car off and back on. This simple troubleshooting could be the easy solution to fix the issue. But as I have aged, my thoughts have turned to how hybrids change the environment, instead of just being intrigued with the mechanisms of how they work. During this course, I want to explore how the environment is changing due to the creation and use of hybrids.

I am at my house on September 14, 2016 waiting on my ride. I’m sitting on my couch waiting for my best friend Bao to come and pick me up. I get frustrated with Bao because he is late like always. It is 75 degrees Fahrenheit in the room and I’m feeling 100 degrees fahrenheit with all this anger. I call Bao and see where he is and he doesn't even answer his phone!
