The Tigers of The University of West Alabama needed a second half explosion to take down the Bulldogs of Cumberland University 34-8 on Thursday night in Tiger Stadium.
The first half of the game was uncharacteristic as the Tigers expected to come away with a win but had some trouble against the Cumberland defense.
The first score of the game came on a leaping catch by sophomore Randy Satterfield in the back of the end zone. After this drive, the Tigers offense seemed sluggish as the team did not play with the same intensity as the previous week.
The Tiger defense held strong the entire game and kept the Tigers in the game the first half. The Bulldogs only managed to score eight points in the first half. One score coming off a safety in the end zone and the other a pass from Cumberland’s Justin Snyder to receiver Trevon Jones in the ending stages of the first quarter.

The Tigers came out the second half and played with intensity and excitement from the crowd and other teammates.
A change at quarterback sparked the tigers run in the second half.
Dezmon Huntley played outstanding the second half. Not having a single incompletion go to his credit. He finished the game with two passing touchdowns along with one rushing the ball.
Tyreek Hill made another mind boggling play this week as he caught a shuffle pass and ran it for 68 yards and a score in the beginning of the fourth quarter. After returning a punt for a touch down last week. His breakneck speed is something the Tigers have to look forward to as the season continues.
The Tigers finished the game with a 34-8 score and came away with the win and improved their record to 2-0.
The University of West Alabama travels to Birmingham to take on the Golden Bears of Miles College at 4 P.M. on Saturday Sept.

Louisiana College scored four runs in the third after no one was on with two outs. After a fielding error, singles by Stine and Morgan Wampler scored the first run. Smith followed with a triple to clear the bases and scored on Jordan Mason’s single.
WVU jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Kyle Gray doubled down the left field line and scored on Cole Austin's base hit. Marques Inman's double drove in two runs and then the sophomore crossed the plate on Jimmy Galusky's single to right center.
Facing a 4th and five with 4:47 left in the third quarter,the Indians elected to go for it. Jack Beeler was sacked for an 12-yard loss by #8 Marcus Jones. The Cougars carried that momentum with them on the ensuing drive. It tool 8-plays to cover the 49-yards for the score, with the score coming in the shape of a 4-yard run from Bailey. The point after kick locked this one up once again, at 14 apiece with 1:22 left in the quarter.

The Memphis Tigers scored their final touchdown to take a 34-14 lead with 14:51 left on the clock in the fourth quarter and the Houston Cougars started to mount their comeback with their back up quarterback in the game. Sophomore quarterback Kyle Postma came into the game late in the second quarter after senior QB Greg Ward went down with an apparent left ankle injury. Postma started the scoring as he drove down field after Ward exited the game and scored the teams first touchdown.
Tyrod Taylor was held to under 175 of passing and no passing TDs. The run game which had been stagnant for the 1st 2 games seen LeSean McCoy reached 100 yards with 2 TDs and Tyrod Taylor reached about 75 on the ground himself.
Woodward had to know this game was all but over at the 5:38 mark of the 2nd quarter, so they decided to go for it on fourth down, needing fourteen-yards for the first down, deep in their own territory. The decision went from bad to worse when Reliford was called for intentional grounding, giving the ball to Belmont at the Bulldogs nine-yard line.

PVAMU took advantage of the GSU’s missed opportunity and marched down the field from the 24 yard line. Lee and the Panthers appeared to have the Tigers on their heels as they moved the ball to the GSU’s 33 yard line. From that point, Dawonya Tucker rush for 33 yards to the for a touchdown, Owen Hoolihan added the PAT with 5:08 left in the quarter to give the Panthers a 16-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Garoppolo had a great start to the quarter throwing a short pass to James White who ran 56 yards for a big time reception. That pass set up a 1 yard run by LeGarrette Blount for the touchdown.
