Kyle Davis drove in a career-high five runs and the West Virginia University offense came alive a day after being shutout to pound Tulane 18-5 on Sunday afternoon in the series finale.
The Mountaineers (7-4) scored 18 runs on 20 hits. Eight of their nine starters had at least one hit and six had at least one RBI in the victory.
Sophomore shortstop Jimmy Galusky went 3-for-3 and drove in three RBI. He scored three runs and walked twice. Sophomore third baseman Cole Austin matched a career-high with three hits and drove in two runs.
Designated hitter Marques Inman had a career-best four hits with two RBI and sophomore catcher Ivan Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with a career high three RBI.
Right fielder Darius Hill extended his hitting streak to a career-high 13 games.

Right-hander Conner Dotson (3-0) pitched five innings. The junior allowed four runs on four hits while striking out seven. Freshman Riley Troutt tossed three innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits. Freshman Alek Manoah pitched a scoreless ninth. WVU jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. Kyle Gray doubled down the left field line and scored on Cole Austin's base hit. Marques Inman's double drove in two runs and then the sophomore crossed the plate on Jimmy Galusky's single to right center. On a two-run blast by Jeremy Montalbano, Tulane cut the deficit to 4-2 in the bottom of the second. However, the Mountaineers responded with five runs in the top of the third to take a commanding 9-2 advantage. Austin opened the scoring with an inside-the-park home run. Freshman Cody Crowder’s single put runners on the corners, and an error on a sacrifice bunt scored Zapata. Trinity then threw an error trying to turn a double play to allow another runner to score, and Guin’s two-out single put 11-0.
During the fourth inning, Colby blasted four hits scoring three runs. Tanner Trusell, Wade Rush, and Bryce Meyers each scored on hits to the outfield.
The YellowJackets (2-2) rallied from a two-run deficit with a three-run sixth inning to take the opener. LeTourneau had 12 hits including four from freshman Kennedi Dillow in the win. Junior Kayla Cosby came off the bench to pitch 3.1 innings of one-hit relief of starter junior Courtney Matulis to secure her first win at LETU.
The Gents captured five different spots on the Second Team, including senior Dakota Brown receiving honors both as an outfielder and as a relief pitcher. Joining Brown on the Second Team are sophomore catcher Chris Zapata, freshman shortstop Colten Maples, and junior Aaron Quintanilla as a designated hitter.

The Bruins got the run back in its half of the third to take a 3-1 lead. Again, Meyer was involved in the scoring for Pacific in the fourth inning. The play of the game came in the bottom half of the 12th inning and extended the game one more inning. After two of the first three Diamond Dawgs reached, Altamonte Springs coach Kevin Davidson decided to have McCarthy issue an intentional base-on-balls to Marshawn Taylor (Grambling State) that loaded the bases with one out. He then fanned pitcher Mathew Oset (Seminole State College) on three pitches. Devlin Granberg (Cisco Junior College) popped up down the right field line and Tyler Langley (Central Arkansas) made a diving catch to retire the side and allow the winning run to be scored in the next inning.
To begin the fourth, freshman Cody Crowder walked and senior Michael Schimpf and junior Chris Zapata singled to load the bases. However, a strikeout and groundball double play failed to score a Gents run.
A kick from Anderson started the game, not long after, QB Lucas Smith runs a 18yd touchdown, starting the game out with a 7-0 Turpin lead. The Redskins’ Kyle Blaha soon persevered through the unforgiving Turpin defense and ran a 2 yd touchdown, evening out the score out 7-7. “Our offense and defense did well, but there’s always room for improvement.” Coach Kenter explained after Turpin gave up 21 points in the first half. “But I think this was one of better games of the entire season, the team really brought it.” Second quarter brought both the Spartans and Redskins 2 new touchdowns each and an exciting 65 yard pass Turpin touchdown, Smith to Will Hausfeld. Halftime stopped the intense game at a suspenseful score of 21-21.
Jevon Carter tallied 18 points for the Mountaineers (26-8). Esa Ahmad, Elijah Macon and Daxter Miles Jr. each added 10 points. Teyvon Myers had nine.
Deacon Liput singled with one out in the second, bringing up Mike Rivera. Florida’s designated hitter watched a strike, stepped out of the box and gathered his composure. Carlton set from the stretch but let a changeup float high.
In game two, Centenary fell behind 3-0 before scoring two in the fourth because of a key error and one more in the fifth. With two down in the fourth, senior Lizzie Moran hit a groundball to first that was misplayed to allow her to beat the throw. Moran stole second and scored on sophomore Wendy Gillet’s RBI hit. While trying to gun down Moran at the plate, Gillet moved to second and scored on freshman Ashley Albright’s hit.

Within the pitcher’s circle, Sydney Loa threw five innings and gave up seven runs, five of that have been earned, with 10 hits. She struck-out two batters and walked two.
