Throughout this course, a new perspective has provided us with the opportunity to take a look at many of the different ways in which the digital world has become one of the most dominant viewpoints of today’s generation, and how technology has taken over and welcomed itself into many aspects of our lives. This course paper will take a look at one topic of interest in particular, which in hopes will shed some light on a heavily discussed topic in the education world: does technology help or hinder the student. This paper will look to prove the point and discover more about the way in which technology has been incorporated into the classroom, both in an elementary context as well as a post-secondary context, and the effects that it has had on the student, the teacher, and the overall academic development that accompanies it.
In the article “Technology Changing how students learn, Teachers Say” many different surveys and experiments were constructed to see what the response were toward technology changing the way we think. As stated “roughly 75 percent of 2,462 teachers surveyed said that the Internet and search engines had a “mostly positive” impact on student research skills” (Richtel). This means that majority of the teacher do agree that the internet is making a positive effect on the children. Using technology in the educational field is a different approach on how the student my able to learn or grasp the whole content of that topic or subject. The internet doesn’t only help out with the student learning but it is already help the teacher. Through the internet they can exam the progress of class by averaging out the online homework or test that may be given out to the class.
Mann, who is professor of Western University, wrote an article Let’s Unplug the Digital Classroom, said that a variety of technology machinery should be avoided from in our classroom because those digital technologies disturb the our traditional learning skills (Mann, 2012). He described new environment of education in present day that more and more people, who are both professors and students, do communicate through the modern technologies rather than before. However, he taught that we must stop of utilizing the digital machine in school due to the decreasing of the people abilities. In reality, most student and even teachers use it too much time and cases for personal communication and processed with class. In addition, there are the most
The author of the article “Benefits of Technology in the Classroom” is, Janelle cox an educational writer, who has 15 years of professional experience and knowledge in the education system in the online learning environment. Technology and learning are becoming more and more hand in hand as technology gets improved and learning styles are figured out about students. There are a couple of learning theories that teachers need to know to provide students with the best learning situations to make sure that students are learning everything that they need, so they can be ready and successful today and are able to go into the workforce and be a benefit to future employers. This paper we are going to discuss how technology is going to help these student with technology.
In education: technology has change the way teacher teaches and how students learn. Technology has been proven to put teachers in a better position in monitoring and tracking their student’s progress and achievements. For example, the use of technology has made it possible for University of People to be in existence. Without technology we will not be here today discussing about its impact on
at. 2014). they used 332 students to participant in this study took surveys on whether or not they though technology in the class room hindered their learning abilities . Some said they thought that laptops helped them because they could type their notes faster and have in all organized in one place so they could just find it easily later on . While others in the survey said that they prefer paper and pencil because they felt they got to distracted by things like twitter, Facebook, and histogram while on the computers.. The results were fairly distributed among the people and there thoughts on technology and has helped the study form more design and assessment of technology-rich learning environments and develop more programs involving technology use in their teaching.(Gebre, E el. at.
Technology is seen in many different ways and can help influence the way it is used in a class room. There are both positives and negatives to having technology be used as a way to help increase learning. Technology is an easy way of getting quick information and also finding an easy
In a review of the literature, recurrent ideas appeared in the research articles reviewed. These ideas include technology as part of education has a conclusive and encouraging impact on students, students demonstrated a greater level of learning and expanded productivity with the use of technology. Both educationalists and students felt technology added significance to their learning experiences. The present era has progressed not only in terms of education but also in the department of information technology. People usually resort into using technology for a faster way of communication, to progress in work and in education. Some colleges and universities have implemented the different kinds of technology for purposes of developing a student’s skills and abilities. “Technology is seen in several forms from the simple functions of a calculator used in mathematics to the most complicated computers and technological gadgets” (Flannagan L.J., pg. 07). However, alongside the positive advantages of technology and advanced computer system, there is also a negative side or disadvantages causing problems that need to be solved. While the “ideal goal for educators is to implement technology in the classroom and see definite positive affects on student achievement” (Flannagan L.J., pg. 09). We are living in a world filled with high tech gadgets in the current time like ipads, social media such as twitter, facebook, tumbr and google.
Technology is a major influential factor in the progression of education. Technology has allowed for many positive advances in education, allowing for more efficient, more individualized learning. The introduction of computers in education has provided countless benefits to students, and enhanced learning greatly. Students now have a much broader wealth of information in which they can get knowledge from, and more specialized learning. Education will continue to be benefited by technology as progression continues. Individualization in education should be an ultimate goal, and this can only be achieved through technology.
The education system around the world has progressed and changed in a plentiful amount of ways, and the concept of knowledge and learning has changed in modern day. For example, certain schools around the globe are moving on to implementing technology in classrooms because it provides many benefits and statistical research that states how students are improving their academic readiness because of the instant access to information, a greater engagement and interactive process in learning, and the personalization that instructors can do towards the educational experience that students receive. The benefits of technology in class can be rather debatable, for there are people who think it's a distraction, but it certainly seems to be beneficial according to the increase of passing percentages in schools.

"Digital technologies are electronic tools, systems, devices and resources that generate, store or process data. These include social media, online games and applications, multimedia, productivity applications, cloud computing, interoperable systems and mobile devices" (Victoria State Government, n.d.). Thus, many people think digital technology and education has connected with each other. They believe that the school is making students learning and spreading the knowledge of society, and digital technology is "providing skills for students to be better understand the theory idea, information, and intelligent behaviour" (Woolf, Lane, Chaudhri and Lolodner, 2013). Digital technology also could help the teacher to develop the personalized educational programs for individuals or groups of students, and even help students use a range of learning styles and methods. Thus, in this essay, I will discuss the problems and the role of digital technology in education, and find some ideas could help the school in the future through digital technology.
Technology can help students in all areas of study. Students need to be able to use this technology since, “Currently and in the near future, it is understood that students need to acquire more autonomous skills of ‘information gathering, analysis, and display’” (Todnem, 2004, p. 1). Furthermore, the use of technology, mainly the internet, provides for variation since “Students find themselves bored and burnt-out of the lecture format to classes, so changing the curriculum and instruction to include things like online assignments and educational videogames can be one clear remedy” (Todnem, 2004, p. 1). Teachers who have implemented technology into their classrooms have noticed changes in their students. The most common of these effects being an increase in motivation. In “Effects of Technology on Classrooms and Students” another positive effect is given “technology effect stressed by many teachers was enhancement of student self esteem” (“Effects,” 2004, p. 2).
