The nutritional value can be most easily defined as the usefulness of food products to cover the needs of the body. It depends on the content of nutrients: proteins, fatty carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, as well as their absorption by the human body. Nutrients are vital substances that enable the proper functioning of the body, its proper growth and development. They are in the food. Appropriate processes, such as digestion, make these ingredients after ingestion of food can be absorbed by the body. The most important nutrients are: sugars (carbohydrates), fats, protein, vitamins, minerals, water. Carbohydrates - are necessary for the proper functioning of the body. They provide the energy needed to sustain life processes and perform all kinds of activities. They are found in cereal products (eg groats, pasta, breads), rice, potatoes, milk, fruit and vegetables and sweets. Keep in mind that eating too much sugar in the form of sweets is harmful and can lead, for example, to overweight. Fats - the largest source of energy for the human body. This energy is needed to warm the body and maintain its constant temperature. Animal fats (found in products such as meat, sausages, butter, and lard) contain cholesterol, which in too much can cause atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. The exception is fish fat.
