Nature-nature debate is a very old one, dating back to Aristotle, who argued that we are born blank slates and everything we become is a product of the external world. While Greek philosopher Plato said intelligence and behavior were innate (Myers & DeWall, 2016, p.8). Evolutionary psychology is the study of why humans act the way they do. William James was heavily influenced by the works of Charles Darwin. It is best if the interview is conducted by a third party in an environment free of distractions. The interviewer should not mention specifics regarding the case or potential suspects. Encourage the witness to tell everything they can recall no matter how small or trivial. Question asked by the interviewer should be opened ended, and prompt the witness to share more information. Throughout the interview, avoid leading questions, such as “Was the vehicle red?”. Furthermore, avoiding interruption while the eyewitness is speaking will help with recalling information. If a witness cannot recall information, they should be informed to refrain from guessing. During a lineup, whether it be a live lineup or a photo lineup, only one suspect at a time should be shown to the witness. Witnesses need to be informed that the suspect may or may not be included. If the witness identifies a suspect as the perpetrator, abstain from giving feedback whether or not the witness choice the correct
