I believe that all lives are equal. I believe this because I read a passage about Pope Francis and what he said to congress. He said that God created everyone and if you end what he created without giving them a second chance is just not right. For example Hitler he killed millions of people but if someone would've given him a second chance to start over I bet he would. The Pope also said that the death penalty should be gone. He said that all lives are sacred and that killing people is “inhumane” and “unacceptable”. I also read a book called “The Most Dangerous Game” it talks about how some lives are more valuable than others. In the story the main character's name is Rainsford he thinks that all lives are equal and that no man should
1 Text to Text: 2 In the text "The most dangerous game" you are left with many moral dilemmas, wondering what is right and what will happen next. The main characters are Rains ford and General Zaroff, Rains ford is a wealthy author who has a passion for hunting. While General Zaroff also shares the same passion for hunting however to new extents .When Rainsford is left on a deserted island he and Zaroff meet ,Zaroff tells him about his new form of hunting ,because recognizes Rainford form his novels on hunting ,and gives a proposal to his new kind of hunting. Rainsford came to a cliff and he was trapped by Zaroff and his hounds. Rainsford had no choice, he didn't want to surrender because he know he would get killed. There was only one choice left and it was to jump off the cliff into the water. He waited to Zaroff got close and the he jumped into the roaring waters. General Zaroff was surprised when he did that, but he knew that he wasn't going to come back because he would be to scared to. Rainsford hit the water hard and Zaroff peaked his head over to watch for Rainsford but he didn't come up, so he waited for about 10 minutes and he didn't come up so he knew he was dead, so he left and headed back to his house. Underneath the water there was a cave and in that cave was where Rainsford was hiding.in
“One of us is to finish a repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed. On guard Rainsford.”
In the story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell and the poem “Porphyria’s Lover” by Robert Browning, the authors use characterization and imagery to convey that the desire for power can drive man to psychotic actions.
The most dangerous game: compare/contrast In the book The most dangerous game Rainsford is on a yacht and hears a gun shot. Rainsford leaned over the side of the yacht to investigate and drops his pipe. He went to reach for the pipe and goes over board. He tries to swim after the yacht, but can’t reach it and decides to swim to land.
It had been a week since Rainsford managed to kill the nefarious General Zaroff. The challenging part was almost over or so it seemed. There was not a clear way for Rainsford to escape. As days passed, Rainsford tried to escape. He tried making a boat from driftwood that he found, he tried swimming, he even tried sending a signal by using a flashlight. Rainsford had become so desperate that he even tried some ridiculous plans like trying to pole vault across the ocean. As a result, Rainsford ended up having huge gashes in his left leg ,which got infected, and he had to amputate it. As days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, Rainsford had lost hope and became bitter.
Everyone does certain things when they can’t have what they desire and often they are mean. Whether they mean it or not it still happens. In “The Most Dangerous Game” Zaroff can’t be the best hunter in the world with Rainsford still alive, so since he could not get what he desired Zaroff hunts and attempts to kill Rainsford. In “All Summer In A Day.” Margot can remember the sun from while on Earth, however on Mars the sun comes out only once every 7 years causing the kids not to remember and to be jealous. Resulting in the kids locking Margot in a closet before the sun comes out because they can not get what they desire, which is to see the sun everyday. Both Richard Connell in “The Most Dangerous Game” and Ray Bradbury in “All Summer In A Day” we can see how the authors use actions and feelings to get across the point of people do mean things when they can not have what they desire.
Despite the fears of becoming a harsh dictator, the assassination of Julius Caesar was unjust because Caesar brought peace to rome, he was killed for no reason, and he had great ideas that would benefit the roman empire. Caesar was born to a very poor family, and through hard work he moved up the ranks in politics, and became the "dictator in perpetuity" of rome. He had a short one year of serving as the dictator before his assassination.
¨The taking of even one life is a momentous event.¨ (Bernardin, The Consistent Ethic of Life). The consistent ethic of life is founded on the belief that all life is sacred and worth protecting, while the reasons for capital punishment may seem similar-- retaliation for a life lost-- the death penalty directly goes against everything the consistent ethic of life teaches. As proven through these presentations, capital punishment cases are often inaccurate and biased, while the act of the Death Penalty has proven to be painful with many examples of botched executions. Not only is killing immoral, but how can we go through with these executions when evidence has shown the death penalty can be inefficient and some
Imagine turning up on an island with a psychotic man, a man who hunts humans. This is what General Zaroff does, on Ship-Trap-Island. General Zaroff is a rich hunter who hunts most animals, even the most dangerous. This is the story written by Richard Connell, called The Most Dangerous Game, It is about a psychotic man with a hunting obsession. Once Zaroff gets bored with the hunting animals he turns to something new, humans. The author thinks that hunting is normal, that people have a killer instinct. That it is our human nature to hunt, and kill. The author also thinks that it is human nature to look for new challenges and to live strong. Much like Zaroff, the author believes life, is for the willing.
Is it possible to step into a character’s shoes and feel the same way about a conflict a character is experiencing? Well if you dont think so , the connections between literature and life is as close as it will get. In my opinion, the most deep connections with a character are created at night, for example I enjoy reading in the dark on my bed, especially if I’m reading a mystery it creates that suspense that makes reading fun. Literature and Life are connected through characterization , conflict , and narration because us as humans can make connections with a conflict a character is experiencing in a story. Forman indirectly characterizes meg by giving examples of meg’s actions and her thoughts.
Richard Connell's "The Most Dangerous Game" is a very exciting story of a manhunt. This story made me think about the morality of hunting: Humans are the cleverest creatures on earth, but does it give them a license to kill the other animals and even human beings weaker than themselves? I give below a short summary of the story to set the scene and then I will explore the ethics involved in hunting as a sport. "The Most Dangerous Game" presents the story of a hunter, General Zaroff, who finds hunting human beings as the most dangerous and fascinating sport.
Buying cheap auto insurance is not as straightforward as it seems. Sure, there's nothing complicated with obtaining several online motor insurance quotes from different car insurance companies to get the best deal. But there is more to auto insurance than financial protection in the event that you get into an accident, resulting in damage to property, other vehicles, or both.
Perfectionism is not about achievement and growth. Perfectionism is the belief that if we live perfectly, look perfectly and act perfectly, we can avoid the pain of blame, judgment and shame.
Death is an unusually severe punishment, unusual in its pain, enormity and finality. Human life has it’s value and to punish someone by ending their life might seem immoral, but in front of the constitution, death penalty can be justifiable based on the crime. Even though one might deserve this punishment under the law, is it a human right to end someone's life? The death penalty might stand as an ultimate judgment in the sense that it rightfully punishes the guilty and safeguards other human lives. In most moral and religious implications it’s wrong for one human to end another human’s life. The law exist to serve and protect the people so should the system abolish the death penalty based on ethical implications or should it dissolve the current
