Chapter Summary: The Most Dangerous Game

He shrugged his shoulders.” (Connell 27) General Zaroff had went back home to have some dinner. He then went into the library to calm down. As he was about to turn the lights on in his room but went to the window to look at the dogs. As he turned on the lights Rainsford came from behind the bed curtains and scared Zaroff half to death.

Rainsford came to a cliff and he was trapped by Zaroff and his hounds. Rainsford had no choice, he didn't want to surrender because he know he would get killed. There was only one choice left and it was to jump off the cliff into the water. He waited to Zaroff got close and the he jumped into the roaring waters. General Zaroff was surprised when he did that, but he knew that he wasn't going to come back because he would be to scared to. Rainsford hit the water hard and Zaroff peaked his head over to watch for Rainsford but he didn't come up, so he waited for about 10 minutes and he didn't come up so he knew he was dead, so he left and headed back to his house. Underneath the water there was a cave and in that cave was where Rainsford was hiding.in

When Rainsford fell off the yacht he found the house that Zaroff was living in. Zaroff was holding “a long-barreled revolver” and he was aiming it directly at “Rainsford's [torso]” (Connell 23). When Rainsford got to the house and Zaroff was holding the revolver to his chest, he would have been shocked to have a radical greeting. When Zaroff figured out who it was he greeted him inside and started to talk about hunting and how Zaroff has so many heads. ...

In the story “The Most Dangerous Game” Rainsford was just fied in killing the General. Rainsford really didn’t mean to kill him it was only self-dense in which it lead to him killing the general. If Rainsford would have never killed him it would have been the other way around.

Rainsford the proceeds to approach the mansion and knock on the door to see if anybody is in the mansion. When someone opens the door rainsford is met by a large man with a gun. “I’m no robber. I fell off a yacht . My name is Sanger Rainsford of new york city” (16). Rainsford says this to try and calm the man and come off as not hostile. After that the man remains hostile to rainsford, but after a bit of waiting he does a salute to rainsford to become not hostile towards rainsford. After that rainsford is greeted by General Zaroff. When zaroff sees him he says “it is a very great pleasure to welcome Mr.Sanger Rainsford, the celebrated hunter to my home” (17). This shows that zaroff knows who rainsford is. A man named Rainsford fell over board from a ship he was on. Rainsford meets a general named Zaroff. Both are hunters but Zaroff hunts more than animals, he hunts men as well for sport. He tells Rainsford that he will be hunting him. He is chased and builds obstacles for Zaroff and his dogs. He kills one of his dogs and builds a nife trap and also kills Ivan. Thinking he won Rainsford sneaks in his room and sleeps in his bed, meaning he has killed the general (Zaroff).

The general was telling him about all the humans he has hunted and plans on hunting. Later on Rainsford said to the general “I can’t believe you are serious, General Zaroff. This is a grisly joke.” What the general is saying to Rainsford is that he is serious. Rainsford can not believe it and most people would not. Why would Rainsford want to repeat what the general did when he has the option not to. Zaroff is evil and Rainsford knows that. Their is no way that he would want to repeat what the general

So Rainsford and Zaroff starts and Rainsford jumped in front of him and pulls out his sword out looks at Zaroff and says “I am going to win this fight and get the excellent bed.” So once he says that to Zaroff he came at him with another sword. Zaroff swings first and he cuts his arm and Rainsford screamed out and said “OUCH!! YOU ARE GOING TO DIE!” So they continued to fight and then Rainsford called in back up and he called Mr. Whitney to the fight and he brought a lot of swords. Then they started to fight and Mr. Whitney help Rainsford. So he went to the other side to run up behind

It had been a week since Rainsford managed to kill the nefarious General Zaroff. The challenging part was almost over or so it seemed. There was not a clear way for Rainsford to escape. As days passed, Rainsford tried to escape. He tried making a boat from driftwood that he found, he tried swimming, he even tried sending a signal by using a flashlight. Rainsford had become so desperate that he even tried some ridiculous plans like trying to pole vault across the ocean. As a result, Rainsford ended up having huge gashes in his left leg ,which got infected, and he had to amputate it. As days turned into weeks, and weeks into months, Rainsford had lost hope and became bitter.

The General goes back to his mansion pleased that he has killed Rainsford. But Rainsford returns alive and finds his way back to the general. The general gives Rainsford the win but Rainsford does not care about the win, he wants to defeat the general once and for all. He attacks the general and kills him beating the

The illuminated moon opened up the night. It was shining bright down on the unconscious General. That night Rainsford had thrown him out the window, attempting to kill him, but with Zaroff’s success, did not. At first glance, a person could conclude Zaroff was dead, but from a first-person view, any man can see he was slowly with a light heart moving.

“Please!” Whitney cried. Rainsford couldn’t bring himself to do it. How much better would he be than the General if he killed Whitney? He was just a boy, one who had made bad decisions in his life. Rainsford lowered the club, and let his guard down.

When Rainsford arrives at the generals, he is introduced to a game where he must fight against Zaroff for his own life. After competing against himself, Rainsford is done with the generals games and ends the little war once and for all. Rainsford sneaks into the general's room at night, when he would least expect to see Rainsford. Rainsford catches Zaroff by surprise, and Zaroff knows it is over. “‘ I congratulate you, “ he said. “ You have won the game. “‘ (14).
