More specifically, stories are constantly being told throughout life and play an important role. Stories such as “How to Tame a Wild Tongue,” “The Burden of Memory: Victims, Storytelling and Resistance in Northern Ireland,” “Digital Storytelling as a Signature Pedagogy for the New Humanities,” “Nobody Mean More to Me Than You and the Future Life of Willie Jordan,” and “Shunned” compare by shaping storytelling while moving beyond a deeper connection and meaning.

I have decided to write about myself even though I feel it's a tiny bit narcissistic. The artifact that I have created is my own literary work a book named "Purged: Cleansing of the Spirit" under my pen name Victory Hale. My book is an artifact because it is created by a human, it is literature and it serves no primarily functional purpose, it embodies creative expression. My book is about my life and times spent as a child living in poverty with two very abuse parents. The book grows up with me as I become an adult, mother to my children. It tells the tale of how I broke free from the abuse and all that had harmed me.

Stories are surrounding us. Whether you're in school or at work or simply listening to somebody let you know about their day. We learn through stories. As humans we all share experiences through stories. We learn from ones experiences while they tell us the story of what happen to them. We learn about a 12 year old girl named Lisa Chavez. She tells us her story about the first time she has experienced racism. We also learn about a woman named Chimamanda Adiche's and she tells us about the dangers of a single story. While Chimamanda Adiche's tells us her story she explains to us why people have racist thoughts and it’s because of storytelling. Then we learn about Hampl’s piece about memoirs. He tells us what he thinks a memoir is and how true can a memoir be. Stories affect our everyday life, they affect how we see people and how we learn about things.
