Surely by now you have heard of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). This Islamist militant group is causing a major problem for the entire world. This terrorist organization first started off as a branch of Al Qaeda in 2004 but later decided to break away from the organization two years later. Unlike Al Qaeda, ISIS has proven that they are more brutal then Al Qaeda and better at taking over territory. What has the whole world going crazy is the fact that this terrorist organization has been able to capture more than half of Syria oil. ISIS has also captured Mosul, this is the second largest city in Iraq. So far ISIS has been able to stay in the eye of the media and gain attention for their radical methods. Their leader Baghdadi has aided ISIS in gaining prominence, with their control of parts of Iraq and Syria. The goal of this extremist group is that “ Muslims across the world swear allegiance to its leader - Ibrahim Awad Ibrahim al-Badri al-Samarrai, better known as Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi - and migrate to territory under its control” (BBC). They also believe in Sharia Law and they also emphasize an apoplectic stage and literalist translations of the Quran. ISIS also attempts to eradicate infidel’s public execution, crucifixion, apostates, and anyone against their rulings, they believe in religious and ethnic cleansing. Wood from the The Atlantic said “The Islamic State has its share of worldly concerns (including, in the places it controls, collecting garbage and keeping the water running), but the End of Days is a leitmotif of its propaganda” (Wood). ISIS is also using modern tool like social media to recite members. According to the New York Post, “ Facebook, Google and Twitter are stepping up efforts to combat online propaganda and recruiting by Islamic militants, but the Internet companies are doing it quietly” …show more content…
ISIS sent a message that mocked France and claimed responsibility for the attacks. ISIS started “mocking France as a “capital of prostitution and obscenity,” according to statements released in multiple languages on one of the terror group’s encrypted messaging accounts” (Callimachi). This attack was even worse because recently the Russians plane had crashed and killed over 200 people and Russia is still not hundred percent what happened because ISIS said it was their doing. It is said in the New York Times that “Analysts said the nature of the attacks was more in keeping with actions of the Islamic State than with those of Al Qaeda, and the timing and extent of the celebration expressed online by the group’s supporters added weight to the claim” (Callimachi). The United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights has repudiated ISIS as an threat and rejected notable Human Rights, “systematically targeting men, women and children based on their ethnic, religious or sectarian affiliation and is ruthlessly carrying out widespread ethnic and religious cleansing in the areas under its control” (United Nations). He also called for the international community to ensure that ISIS pays for their remorseless crimes against the different groups and peoples of the world. ISIS is clearly a major threat to the entire
During ISIS’s rise to power, there have been several key players, which have influenced the growth or decline of its movement. The center of Gravity (COG) for ISIS has been its ability to recruit volunteer foreign fighters from around to engage in its caliphate. In addition, local people from Iraqi, Syrian, and other Nations have been key players because of ISIS’s efforts promote fear and violence against their family or communities. Sunnis and Shia countries focused on regional power and security. Furthermore, the U.S. and its 70 Allies through Operation Inherent Resolve Campaign aim to defeat ISIS and promoting regional stability. The last key players are rival terrorist franchises or organizations like AQ, Taliban, Al Shabaab, and Hamas
In the CNN library of, “ISIS Fast Facts” CNN shares the story of ISIS the group known for killing dozens of people in the public by executions, beheading or brutal acts. Not accepting the loss of their jobs many anger without a job established al Qaeda in Iraq to wage against U.S. A. In the process to establish an Islamic caliphate, or state across the region. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant otherwise known as ISIS is a transnational Sunni insurgent group led by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. This group has been established since 2003 and has it’s origins in the Iraq war which lasted until 2011. In March of 2011 conflict has been raging in Syria. 15 schoolchildren were arrested and repeatedly tortured after writing anti-government graffiti on a wall.*Similar to the Holocaust* This eventually led to a civil war between the government and rebel groups, which wanted the president to step down. After 4 peaceful protesters were killed after the government army opened fire. Afterwards, during the funeral of the protestors the government opened fire and killed one other person. This eventually led to a
Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), which controls territory mainly in Iraq and Syria, was formed in April 2013, it was grown out of al Qaeda. The main ideology behind the organisation is based on Islamism, Salafism and Salafi Jihadism. ISIS was originally founded by Abu Musab al Zarqawi in Iraq. Before ISIL was established, Zarqawi has set up an al Qaeda franchise in Iraq during the occupation of country by the Americans. Later, however, Zarqawi became so extreme, his brutal actions in Iraq offended the jihadists, and led to al Qaeda disavowing him.
“Isis skills are so beneficial to our world today” She is such an influential and powerful women and she so influenced our modern world today. Isis’s name means “throne” and with a name like that you just know that this girl is going to be an awe-inspiring queen. She was often referred as a beautiful woman wearing a sheath headdress; very intimidating look she had. Isis was also the daughter of the earth god Geb.
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has recently attacked. How and Why? These are all questions that the public still wants to know. ISIS is a jihadist terror group that was established after the fall of Al Qaeda and the death of their leader Osama Bin Ladin. The reason why ISIS' foundation is still spreading is because their followers want "revenge" on those who have tarnished the Islamic religion. ISIS' end goal is to separate the Western and Eastern parts of the world, and even though we pride ourselves on the belief that we are all equal many people want this to happen. And ISIS takes those people to help them achieve this goal.
Unlike other terrorists groups whose main purpose is to enforce terrorism around the world, ISIS’ brutal strategies are how they defend their beliefs and protect their land (Chavez). ISIS has been able to obtain a majority of their land even with U.S. led coalition strikes and ground operations; they control much of the Tigris-Euphrates river basin, northern central Iraq, and northern Syria and seek to control every aspect of their land in each city and town, including essential roads, oil fields, and military facilities (BBC). “In March [of] 2015, the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross [estimated there to be] more than 10 million people [living under ISIS control]” (BBC). Inside areas where ISIS imposes its austere rendition of Sharia, another way to say the “framework” of Islam, women wear full veils, public beheadings are a daily routine, and those who refuse this way of life are forced to supply the government with a certain tax, convert, or choose death
Over 2,000 people have been killed by attacks carried out by ISIS. ISIS or the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria are an islamic extremist group located throughout the middle eastern region but have influence world wide. Their attacks have affected countries including the United States, France, and the United Kingdom. Their attacks have been occurring for years but the reached a major tipping point after they killed over 150 people in one night in Pairs. The Syrian region where ISIS mainly resides has been involved in a Civil war since 2011 and has seemingly had no break. The war has also been a large political battle even outside of Syrian powers as Russia and the United States back key players.
A group within these that tends to be causing most of the activity between the media and popular culture is ISIS. ISIS is a group of Muslims who have developed radical beliefs as well as a hatred for the United States since their invasion in Afghanistan in 2003. Since this time, the radical terrorists have been able to spread larger and larger by focusing their emphasis on the ideology of eradicating the Sunni religion from Iraq and Syria. This idea is popular due to Iraq’s Shia majority (Laub, 2016). Expanding also may have been assisted by a 73% increase in Muslims from 2010 to 2050. This is by far the most rapidly growing religion in the entire world (Lipka, 2016). ISIS is also able to use the region's resources to its advantage as oil is the source of it’s primary income. A more deviant form of income for the Islamic terrorist groups is ransom payments. They obtain this by kidnapping important individuals, such as journalists, and demand a payment by threatening that individual's life. In 2014, ISIS made twenty million United States dollars off of these ransoms. It is no shock that Islamic terrorist groups, such as ISIS, affect not only those in Iraq and Syria. Nearing countries such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen to have sworn allegiance to Baghdadi. Unfortunately the threat of radical
ISIS is identified as a Salafi extremist group, which refers to a very conservative outlook on the Islamic religion. With these abhorrent views of non-Muslims, many of the members have resorted to domestic violence, including suicide bombings and other forms of provoking fear in the innocent. Countries such as Iraq and Syria have made multiple attempts to combat ISIS, but they are currently deemed too powerful to be seized from power. A number of factors contribute to the horrific actions that are executed by the Islamic State, such as the disarmament of Saddam Hussein’s military back in the early 2000’s. Once the former Iraqi soldiers realized that they could not fight for their country, they transitioned into ISIS fighters and began to advocate for a much different cause- one that would affect millions of lives all over the
ISIS has been all the rise for almost a year now and ISIS has been rather shocking about how they have telling the world their message. ISIS gives the message that they are the biggest terrorist group in the world. ISIS has been beheading and murdering innocent people. They have been taking people that are foreign hostage, they have been torturing them and then beheading them while they are alive. In the places that ISIS has taken control of they are destroying their history by destroying ancient temples and selling artifacts on the black market. There are many ways that ISIS is earning money and their support.
Imagination has been part of us since we were adolescents. We had always created things that made us believe it was real. Part of imagination is to vision something that is fictional. Sometimes this vivid imagination can motivate you to work for what your dreaming yourself about. For example, when I was five I used to imagine myself being a welder. I would play around and make believe I was a professional welding worker. As time passed by; I am and eager to learn welding. I will take classes to learn what I always wanted to become. Its amazing how a simple imagination can lead us to were you
The United States is at risk of new terrorist organization. Resent attacks on parise shows the reach of this new terror group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Al Qaeda has evolved into something more serious ISIS. The United States has a moral responsibility to protect itself and others from the threat ISIS poses and the rules that ISIS inforce. The people of the world have the right to practice their religion in their own way and not live in fear of groups like ISIS.
On the night of November 13, Paris was attacked by a terrorist group called ISIS and that killed at least 129 people and injured more than 350. They were total of 6 attacks happened on that night. Gunmen with weapons stride angrily enters the court hall, firing into the crowd, taking hostages, and killing them one by one. Also they were suicide bombers and gunmen with guns start shooting at the local restaurants and café. My first interesting thing I learned from my article is that terrorists group ISIS claimed the responsibility for Paris attack and downing the Russian plane. “ISIS is the radical Sunni Muslim group that has taken over large parts of Syria and Iraq and imposed strict Islamic Law and they immediately claimed responsibility for Paris attack and downing the plane of Russian passenger plane over Egypt, which killed 224 people aboard.” (12, 13) I chose this passage because ISIS is behind the Paris attacks and downing the plane, they wanted to conquer territory by killing people. And I did more research about the ISIS; their strength is about 52600-257900 in total. My second interesting fact I chose is that France and USA quickly attacked Syria and Iraq to fight against them. “But the response quickly went beyond grief and words. French warplanes bombed the Syrian city of Raqqa, where ISIS is based and USA stepped up its own attacks, striking a convey of ISIS trucks in Syria that were carrying oil.” (13) I chose this passage because countries around the world fighting against the terrorist groups and trying to stop them before they attack any other country and kill people.
Later that month, Baghdadi announced the creation of a caliphate, or Islamic state. By then, ISIS had captured large swaths of Syria and Iraq” (Hanna, CNN). As the ISIS organizations keep on expanding their operations in both Iraq and Syria, they become one of the most serious threat to both U.S, the Middle-East, and for the world.
