There are habits that are beneficial for your life and other habits that are detrimental to your wellbeing. I personally want to form habits that are beneficial for my life and the lives that I will be able to influence. One of the habits that I am seeking to enhance in my life is one that is beneficial to my body. I plan to increase the amount of vegetables that I have been eating to the amount of vegetables that I should be eating, daily and weekly. I will reflect on how important this change is to me and the motivation behind the change. I will share my plan of action to make the health-enhancing behavior change. I will also reflect on factors that may help me to make the change successful. Also barriers that may hinder my ability to …show more content…
Achieving this goal is a personal desire that I have, therefore I am making a change on my own accord.
I have personally observed when I eat more vegetables that I am able to have regular bowel movements. I have also noted that I have increased energy. The data that I collected as a baseline showed me that I was eating too small of an amount of vegetables per week. That data did not surprise me, but it showed me that my intake of vegetable was not where it needed to be. This motivated me even more to make the change.
The S.M.A.R.T. (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time frame) behavior that I am going to change is that I am going to increase my intake of vegetables per week to 17.5 cups. There may be a few obstacles that may stop me from meeting my weekly target. One of those obstacles is sometimes being too tired to put together a meal that contains the recommended serving of vegetables. Another obstacles is sometimes having classes one after another with approximately 10 minutes between each of them causes for me to feel as though I do not have a chance to eat. These obstacles can affect any full time student or even someone who is always on the go. The first obstacle of being too tired to prepare a meal that contain the recommended amount of vegetables can be dealt with. The way in which this barrier can be dealt with
In this report it will investigate at least three recent health education campaigns and use them to explain two models of behaviour change. The three recent health education campaigns will be ‘Smoke Free’, ‘Change4Life’ and ‘FRANK’. The two models of behaviour change will be the theory of reasoned action and the stages of change model.
This assignment and the first 4 units of this course will assist me in becoming a healthier person not only personally but also professionally. I have struggled with my diet the past few years, either consuming to much or to little, ultimately eating not very healthy. My goal is to eat from each food group the best I can and to eat the portion sizes that is needed for my body. I am going to try and change my eating habits to create more positive choices for myself. Taking care of myself inside will help in the workforce mentally and physically but also help with my knowledge about healthy eating, I’ll be able to share and teach by example.
In everyday life many people develop habits, but it is never too late to attempt to change that bad habit to live a healthier life. For this behavioral change project, I was asked to choose a health behavior that I would like to change for the better. So, I decided that I wanted to increase the amount of water I was consuming each day. The standard recommendation on how much water an individual should consume is about 64 ounces daily. However how much a person should drink is more individualized then one might assume. Therefore, for this particular project my goal was to at least consume 64 ounces of water daily as a baseline starting point. I also had to consider days when I worked out. So, I decided that I would attempt to increase that amount
Explain two models of behaviour change that have been used in recent national health education campaigns.
The purpose of this assignment is to increase self-awareness of the student by analyzing personal nutritional intake and activity routine throughout the course. In turn, the student will be able to help others modify their diet and activity, and improve overall wellness. An examination of a personal food and activity assessment will provide the student with essential data from which to change their health and wellness behaviors.
The change models are change agents that could explain the ways of implementing a change process. These models explain the reason for the change, what to expect during the process and the way a change occurs. Thus, these models help one understand the various aspects of the change process (Agriculture & Life Sciences: Texas A & M University, n.d.). The transtheoretical model of health behavior change could explain my evidence-based practice (EBP) project implementation plan.
I think a simple change in eating fresh fruit and vegetables that my family has personally grown will be great for me and my family. It’s one small change but it could really impact where my health ends
Health promotion utilises theories and models to guide practice. A theory is the general principles of a framework of ideas in regards to a particular topic. (Merriam-webster.com, 2016) A model is a set plan of action based on theoretical ideas to achieve a set goal. (Merriam-webster.com, 2016)
"Don't underestimate the power of one, be creative, volunteer". she was born in the middle of WWII, 1944, the seventh child of a sixteen child farming family. Being in the middle, she saw her siblings as from two generations, the oldest ones were like additional parents, the youngest ones were more like kids I could mentor. Despite hardships like severe asthma it was a magical youth lived largely in nature, and it shaped her love and wonder of the natural world.
My health goal was to change my eating habits. I chose this goal because I have a bad habit of not eating as well as I should. Although I usually do not eat fast food, I eat a lot of carbs. I was raised in an Italian family so macaroni and pizza are my two worst enemies. I figured that if I used this project to get rid of my bad eating habits, I would have an easier time eating healthy after this class ends. Before starting the project I realized that there will be challenges, but this project was not meant to be simple. If behavior change was simple, then anyone would be able to change behavior whenever they wanted to.
On individual level changes in health promotion and ecological approaches target and influence multiple health behaviors. This is because the individuals living in the environment are embedded in temporary change of behaviors. Therefore it is very important to consider ecological approaches, changing health behaviors and environmental factors while designing operational and supportable health promotion plans.

This week of my behavior change project went more successful than the past week. I noticed that this week I worked on my time management and balanced my time between school, community service, and myself. It was much easier to be motivated and do exercise because of the time change. Before daylight savings by the time I completed my shifts it was already dark outside and windy. However now that I have more time at 7:00 pm it is still sunny and warm so the weather definitely motivated me to do at least a 30-minute exercise. Located in the Western Hemisphere, is a small beautiful island populated by people from all around the world. Unfortunately, this country and its people have suffered a great amount in multiple ways, ranging from devastating natural disasters to violent political regimes. In addition to those issues, this country is home to around one million orphans, constituting about 1/11th of its population. As a native of this poor country, I feel that it is my duty to aid as many of those lonely kids as possible; I am fortunate enough to have been afforded opportunities that these kids may never be offered, victimized by the lack of infrastructure of my country. For that reason, I try, whenever I can, to volunteer at local orphanages and devote as much of my time and resources as possible. I want to help the people of Haiti.
In 2012, 804,000 people had committed suicide. In other words, one person killed him or herself in every 40 seconds.(“Japan’s suicide rate”) Since death has always been obscure to humanity as none of them know what it truly is, many of them consider it to be unimaginably frightening and a notion of taking one’s own life appear them to be incomprehensible. However, for a terminally ill patient who is going through agonizing treatments, death can mean relief from endless pain. To those people, physician-assisted suicide may be desirable as it provides relatively painless death. Physician-assisted suicide, according to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is “suicide by a patient facilitated by means or information (as a drug prescription or indication of the lethal dosage) provided by a physician who is aware of how the patient intends to use such means or information”.(“Physician-assisted”) Some people seem to misunderstand that euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide have identical meaning. However, that is a misconception as who puts an end to life is different. While it is usually a doctor who administrates its final act in euthanasia, the conductor is a patient in physician-assisted suicide although a physician is mainly involved by providing a mean of killing oneself. Some say one should live as long as the life goes on while others say one shall be allowed to die under some circumstances.
