In first century AD, the baths were a place of leisure time during many Romans daily routine.  People from almost every class, men and women ( but not children) could attend the public baths or thermaes3, which could be compared to modern day fitness clubs. Public baths were not only for cleaning purposes only, but in many ways, the baths were the ancient Roman equivalent of community centres. Ancient Rome had a huge impact on what we now have here in America. For example some of our building mirror Rome's buildings. Also our government is almost a replica of Rome's government. The way some building were made is similar to the ones in Rome. First the US Supreme Court has a Greek style to the architect.

The Roman empire lasted from 700 BCE until 476 Ce, and incredible 1,176 years. But how did Rome fall? Some say political squabbling. Others argue invasions. However, the downfall of Rome was due to military problems, and natural disasters. Earthquakes brought buildings to the ground, while illnesses killed thousands of innocent people. Also, the military was losing it’s edge. They decided to become lazy, beginning to think too much of themselves.

Scholars do not know precisely how the emergence of Rome was formulated, but today the United States practices the way Roman government would have ran. The Romans set the ideal standards for the government and politics in the United States. The Romans created a government that stood for an empire that ruled for over 1,229 years, and now takes part in the government 's foundation for the most advanced country in the world. The crucial ruling for both of these powerhouse territories lies in the hands of a Republic government. But how has different parts of Rome 's decree affected the United States government and ruling, and is it effective or destructive?

The Wife of Bath uses bible verses in “The Wife of Bath’s Prologue.” Further, she employs the verses as an outline of her life to find reason in God to justify her actions. Nevertheless, the purpose of the verses differs within each stanza of the poem. The Wife of Bath is a sexually promiscuous, lustful, and manipulative woman. She marries men one after the other as they get older and die. In order to combat and overthrow the speculation and criticism being thrust upon her by societal norms because of her marriages, the wife turns to specific bible passages to find reason in life and support for her actions (Article Myriad.com). When the wife is having sex quite frequently and with different men she is said to be fruitful and multiplying. According to the wife, this is what she is told to do in the bible passage, which she has misinterpreted. Ironically, The Wife of Bath is using a predominantly male dominated book to back up and support her reasons for women being equal to men (Article Myriad.com). Not only has she referred to the benefits of adultery through the bible, she has also attempted to undermine the power of men in the very same way she has attempted to prove that the genders are equal. From this, it can be interpreted that although the wife claims to be providing evidence for women being equal to men, she is actually saying that women are better than men. She misinterprets the readings of the bible and male written passages on purpose in order to suit her needs.

Throughout history many civilizations and empires have been considered great. The greatest empire ever was Ancient Rome. Starting in 509 B.C.E and lasting until 476 C.E (Ancient Rome and the Rise of Christianity, 1000 BCE–500 CE,). Ancient Rome started off as a small town on central Italy’s Tiber river and ended up expanding all the way to most Europe, Britain, much of western Asia, Northern Africa and the Mediterranean islands (Ancient Rome). Ancient Rome helped spread many languages, the western alphabet, the modern calendar and the religion of christianity all around the globe (Ancient Rome). They are the most powerful and dominating empire throughout history. Ancient Rome was the greatest empire throughout history.

The Roman Empire was a significant player in the world scene during the rise of the Multi-Cultural Empires. Specifically, there were two Roman leaders, Augustus and Constantine the Great who had significant influences on the Empire. The Roman navy and the Mediterranean Sea played a significant role in Rome’s ability to expand its territory and power. Perhaps even more significant than any of its leaders or its expansion was their political structures and how they changed over time. Overall, the influence of Rome and its inhabitants are still felt today.

The Roman way of life is different and similar to modern day. Though one may not know much over the Roman’s the culture is fascinating and still remembered in history. The clothes, food, customs, and leisure are major in Roman lifestyle.

They believed that if you did not bath that it was a sin. They were based on ritual purity and were not informed by an understanding of the causes of diseases and their means of transmission. Regular bathing was a trademark of Roman civilization. They constructed elaborate baths in urban areas to serve the public. They baths were like very large swimming pools.
