The younger generation is always on their phones and it has decreased their skill of communication which is a must need for the business world. In fact the Pew Research Center had found that 88% of people ages 18-29 use Facebook in 2016. That is a lot of people which can lead to some problems as mentioned before.
One growing issue is cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is when someone threatens, makes fun of, or posts offencive pictures/words with the intention to hurt others over electronic communication. “About half of young people have experienced some form of cyberbullying, and 10 to 20 percent experience it regularly” said Bullying Statistics, “Cyber bullying victims are more likely to have low self esteem and to consider suicide”. Also more than 50% of cyberbully victims don't say anything to their parents or any other adults witch makes the situation even worse. This is a serious issue that goes along with social networking. The next issue is bots. Bots are a computer program that are created to do a task automatically. What that task may be depends on the type of bot, and unfortunately for us there are more bad bots than there are good. An prime example of a bad bot is the bot designed to infect your computer through downloads and ads. When the bot has been downloaded it can steal personal information, make you pay a ransom for your information back, and can even make your computer send out spam mail. There are million of bots in use right now and they are incredibly
School has finally begun and the vacation is out of the way. But how about the bullies and the concerned victims? Unlike current pupils in today 's society, bullied/cyberbullied victims will never receive a break. As kids we’d say 'Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt Me. ' But in today 's society? It could possibly too hard to cope with these words, specifically bullied victims.
Social media itself is a huge danger to society. It causes many suicides within the world because of the cyberbullying and spreading of rumors. “Recent studies have shown that one out of four teens have been the victims of cyberbullying and one out of six have admitted to having cyberbullied someone” (Trautner 1). The internet and social media is supposed to be used to communicate with friends and for searching information, “Kids use technology different than their parents do. Sometimes it is hard for adults to understand that this can even be a possibility” (Trautner 1). It is not supposed to be used to bully someone, especially not to the point where the victim would think about suicide. “One of the statistics that has been highlighted within this news coverage is the threefold increase in the suicide rate for girls ages 10 to 14. The rates for girls in this age group increased from 0.5 to 1.5 per 100,000 during this time period. The increases for boys in this age group were not as high, climbing from 1.9 per 100,000 during 1999 to 2.6 per 100,000 in 2014” (Olsen

Most recently, a case involving a 12-year old girl who committed suicide as a result from cyber bullying received national attention. This case occurred in Polk County, Fl., and has been described as one of the most tragic cyber bullying stories of our time (Hellmich, 2013). Rebecca Sedwick of Lakeland, Fla., who died Sept. 9, was picked on for months by as many as 15 girls through online message boards and texts. Sedwick was bullied on sites such as Ask.fm, Kik, Instagram and Voxer (Hellmich, 2013). Two girls that were accused of bullying Rebecca were arrested and charged in her death (Hellmich, 2013). This case serves as a reminder to adults, as well as children that bullying is a real problem, and that occurrences should not be ignored.
When students go to school there is always a chance that something bad will happen, the same goes for when they log on to any form of social media. Anything can be said or done on the internet without anyone monitoring it. This is one of the many flaws to the internet, while it does give you more access to multiple things, it also makes it easier for cyber stalkers, online predators and cyberbullies to get to you. Cyber-bullying is the use of electronic communications to bully a person. Cyber-bullying takes place by using the Internet, cell phones, video game systems, and other technology. Cyber-bully sends or posts text or image that is intended to hurt feelings or embarrass another person in front of others. Bullying is an aggressive behavior which causes harm and stress to its victims and it escalates over time. Furthermore, everybody has mobile phones and they are using it all day long. There is certainly a difference how bullying has changed. Historically we have seen and may have been a victim of verbal or physical bullying, however today we all use technology so cyber-bullying is on its rise. In fact, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) records cyber-bullying “emerging” in the early 2000s (Nicol 3). The Internet has become a place where people communicate with each other everywhere. People have access to Internet twenty-four hours per day. Communicating with others via emails and various social websites is just like talking with people face to face. However, there are some people who try to hurt others ' feelings through the Internet and technology devices.
Cyber bullying is any form of bullying that takes place over the internet, whether via texts, twitter or other forms of social media. Approximately 52% of children have reported being cyber bullied at one point, or another*. While this number may not seem catastrophic, this statistic is based only on the instances of cyber bullying that have been reported. The reality is that there are many more children who have been cyber bullied, and did not tell anyone that it was happening to them. Another likelihood is that some victims have simply overlooked the bullying projected towards them via the internet. Given the amount of time that children spend texting, on Facebook, or on other social media websites, the likelihood of children experiencing cyber bullying, reported or not, is high.
