Is Corporal Punishment The Best Way?
Have you ever been spanked as a kid and felt angry towards your parents? Did you feel they just hated you? Spanking is a form of corporal punishment which is a punishment intended to cause pain in many different ways. Corporal punishment started in slavery and led to schools and homes. Although many states have banned corporal punishment it is still allowed in 19 out of 50 states. Many adults will agree children just need a ‘good ol’e spanking’ and others will argue that it is a negative way to parent and causes more problems. Spanking children is not a proper way of parenting because it gives a negative effect on children.

First, by giving information to explain how spanking or any other physical punishment can pose as aggression and or a loss of trust. As a young child who had been spanked it did make me fear those who had spanked me. As I got older my fear of who I was left with grew. I also have became more fearful of being yelled at because that had always led to spanking or another punishment.
In the last two decades new analysis of research shows that physical punishment has long-term effect on children. The research concluding that physical punishment (spanking) actually has havoc on the child’s long term memory according to the Canadian Medical Association Journal. Neuroimaging evidence shows that physical punishment may alter parts of the brain involved in performance on IQ tests and up the likelihood of substance abuse. Also early data shows that spanking could affect areas of the brain involved in emotion and stress
