He looks over the papers on the clipboard. “So have you picked out a name for your little one?” “Alexie” “And how do you want to spell that?” “A-l-e-x-i-e” “Is the father here to sign the birth certificate? “No sir” “Well then Phoenix will send someone to collect that information when you get home” He hands me the clipboard and a pen “Sign the bottom line if everything is correct and just put it in the bin at the end of your bed.” “Nurse Victor Cruz to front desk. Nurse Victor Cruz to the front desk.” A voice comes on the loudspeaker “Someone will bring in Alexie soon,if you'll excuse me it sounds as if I'm needed else where.” It's not too long from when Victor left that the doctor that helped deliver my baby comes in with a little …show more content…
Her hair,if you could even call it hair, is just a pile of fuzz is black as night. She got Gavin's pale skin tone, and freckles but she definitely looks like a Jones. She grabs my finger with her whole hand as she falls back asleep. Days later Nurse Cruz walks into the room that I'm in. I'm no longer in the room where I gave birth, they need the section for other women giving birth. I'm in a common room where all the women that already gave birth go to recover. It's literally a bunch of beds in a room. At the end of the room is a TV and a sitting area to watch. There's some magazines on a coffee table by the TV.The room is roughly sectioned off into fours, with ten beds in each section. I'm in section twenty-two. Nurse Cruz is holding a clipboard, looking over my and Alexie’s medical records. “OK Ms. Jones,Alexie has got her milestone shot. You have healed up nicely. All that's left is for you to go to Phoenix to get your fertility shot. Come to the front desk to check out, then you can get your daughter. Now I'd like to remind you that since Alexie has had her milestone shot she will look different and older. In order for her to get to the next stage she'll need to learn how to use the bathroom, walk, talk, learn shapes, colors, and numbers.” “Shouldn't a three year old know how to do this stuff already?” I ask as Nurse Cruz helps me out of bed “No. You see for those in stage two when they grow from stage one haven't been taught

In “The Birthmark” the relationships and behaviors of the character reveal much more than the story itself does. The characters of Aylmer, Georgian, Amenidab and Nature itself, through their words, actions, and behaviors give insight into a much more meaningful story. A deeper analysis of the characters reveals that they are archetypes, and as archetypes they provide a deeper hidden meaning to the story. By looking at Aylmer, Georgiana, Amenidab and Natures relationships and actions throughout the story we can see how they are used to give deeper significance.
While exercise may not be able to eliminate all of the discomfort associated with pregnancy, it can help with circulation, digestion, and constipation, as well as improve posture and muscle tone, which you will need to support joints that are loosened by various hormones as your body prepares for childbirth. Additionally, exercise can counteract the changes in body image and self-esteem that you possess. Most importantly, an appropriate exercise program can help prepare for the mental and physical demands of labor and delivery.
Injuries occurring during birth are denoted to as birth trauma or obstetrical injuries and they are associated with different etiological causes. The important causes of birth trauma are macrosomia, breech presentation, shoulder dystocia, and forceps-assisted deliveries [3]. Traumatizing maneuvers during the deliveries will result in these fractures in the assisted deliveries [4]. The trauma may occur due to use of forces, excessive traction or pulling, unintended pressure on soft organs such as eyes. Trauma to the limb usually occurs when the limb is pulled in cases of obstructed labor or shoulder dystocia (Head out, shoulder stuck). An Indian study on birth trauma revealed that the fractured clavicle was commonest bone fractured

‘Babies’ is a documentary film which chronicles the first year of life of four babies spanning the globe. Documentarian Thomas Balmès fans out to the grasslands of Namibia, the plains of Mongolia, the high rises of Tokyo and the busy streets of San Francisco in a study of culture, societal structure, geography and tradition, along with parental love and the impact all these elements have on child rearing. In the hunting and gathering society of Namibia and pastoral Mongolia, Balmès follows Ponijao and Bayar and in postindustrial Tokyo and San Francisco we are introduced to Mari and Hattie. While the 1:18 film has no real dialogue, viewers are able to get a distinct feel for each baby’s personality, the role they play within the family
A thousand questions flooded my mind that difficult Friday morning. As I ran my fingers through your hair and kissed you good bye, I wondered:
The costs of this expansion will mostly go toward labor, as labor is the single largest component of costs for early infant and toddler care centers (Marshall et al., 2004). For teachers to stay invested in the children they teach and care for, they must be fairly compensated to maintain the high quality of care. According to a study in Massachusetts, 72 percent of typical full-time, full-year center expenditures go toward labor (Marshall, et al., 2004). In dollar amounts, “average expenditures per child care hour were $4.42 for centers serving infants and $4.28 for centers serving toddlers. These correspond to full-time care expenditures of $10,343 and $10,015 for the two groups of centers [infants and toddlers, respectively]”
Immediately after birth, the newborn has an identification band put on. One band is put on the ankle, one on the wrist. The newborn has footprints done immediately. Included on the footprint sheet are the newborn’s name, sex, DOB, time of birth, and mother’s health record.
I remember the day she born. I was nervous for the simple fact that my life would never be the same. Soon no longer would I be known as just Ayanna, I would take on a new title. A title that I would share with so many woman, and after eight long hours of labor, I would now be known to the world as mommy.
George Orwell once said “writing is like giving birth, because all my stories are my babies”! When I first saw this quote, I thought to myself “well, I had a baby earlier this year and it certainly was nothing like writing”! However, when I thought about it a little harder, the process of writing this research document has been a long and thoughtful experience. I say this simply because it isn’t a breeze. It’s not an assignment you can walk through with ease. This is an assignment that takes a lot of thought, research, opinion, and review. So, in a sense Orwell wasn’t to far off with his analogy. Before I went in labor I did research. I had to take my opinions and my research, review it, and figure out how I wanted to go about it. Did I want to go natural? Did I want to have a cesarian or push? It’s a process even before the contractions. In writing, the contractions begin once you get to the final draft of your paper. The only thing is, you can’t get an epidural to make it easier! The steps I took to begin and conduct my research were a little all over the place so bare with me while I attempt to get it all laid out.
PICOT question: Among new mothers (P), does receiving prenatal education on breastfeeding and lactation consultation (I) increase the breastfeeding rates and duration of breastfeeding (O) compared to only receiving postnatal education (C)?
Prenatal care is medical care for pregnant woman and is important for a healthy pregnancy. Its key components include regular checkups and prenatal testing, eating healthfully, exercising, and beginning as soon as one knows she is pregnant.
Birth of a child can be such a happy time, especially when the little one is very healthy. We all have seen the movies when a new child is born, some of us are lucky to see it first hand. Some of us do get goose bumps, me being one of them. It is just so exciting to see that little life come out of what has been in that big belly for nine months. We sometimes refer to the birth of a child as labor. If only it was as easy as the name sounds. However, it is not. There are three main stages in birth. The first stage is the longest stage that can last 12 to 14 hours with the first birth, and later births are shorter. Dilation and effacement of the cervix take place here. That is when the uterine contractions gradually become more frequent and
A birth defect is a physical or mental malformation present at birth. Some birth defects are visible such as leprosy, and some are eternal such as abnormal body function and divergent blood cells. Additionally, some birth deficiencies are genetic, and others transpire when external factors affect a child maturation in the womb. For instance, a child whose mother smoked during pregnancy is vulnerable and likely to have a heart defect at birth.
