The constellation of choice is Taurus because I am a Taurus and therefor wanted to learn more about the constellation and myself through it. The Word "Taurus" is Latin for "The Bull" and the constellation itself is located in the northern hemispheres winter sky. It has been around since The Bronze Age, making it one of the oldest constellations. It has had great agricultural influence and has been told about in myths of Romans, Greeks, and many more. It has 2 of the closest Open Clusters to Earth and holds the red star Aldebaran. It is told in Greek legend that the god Zeus had fallen in love with the daughter of King Agenor, Europa. He came down to earth as Europa was walking along the seashore with company as a gentle, white bull.
I have chosen the constellation Leo. I have chosen Leo because it is my horoscope sign. The real name of the constellation Leo is leonis which in translation means "the lion". Leo's right ascention is 11 hours, and its declination is 15 degrees. Leo is made up of 11 stars(regulus, denebola, algiebra, zosma, ras elased australius, adhafera, chort, al minliar asad, alterf, ras elesed borialas, subra). Leo is also one of the 13 constellations of the zodiac.
According to Greek legend, Zeus seduced a Phoenician Princess named Europa. He then took her to the island of Crete and they had a son named Minos. Minos went on to become the king of Crete. He also married Pasiphae who was the daughter of Helios. According to Bacchylides, a Greek playwright, Minos controlled all of the seas that surrounded Crete.
I chose the constellation Andromeda because the back story and myths it has really fascinates me! I feel that some of the myths behind the consolations can be rather boring, but with the romance and danger all wrapped into one, I continue going back to it. This constellation is the 19th largest in the sky and is located in the first quadrant of the northern hemisphere. It takes seven-hundred-twenty-two square feet in the sky!
There are millions upon millions of stars that light up the night sky. Some of these stars are grouped together in a way that creates a shape or figure; these shapes have been studied for thousands of years by people all around the world. Some civilizations have even dedicated stories to these figures in the sky; most of these shapes or constellations have their origins in Greek and Roman mythology. The constellation I chose as my favorite is Taurus, the bull. While Taurus is one of the constellations featured in the zodiac, my reasons for choosing it as my favorite constellation are not in relation to the story of Zeus and Europa; I chose Taurus because the Pleiades or "Seven Sisters" (a star cluster) are located inside of the constellation.
I chose Sagittarius for my favorite constellation. Sagittarius is latin for Archer and sits next to Scorpius on the west and Capricornus to the East. I chose this constellation because it is my astrology constellation and I wanted to learn more about it.
I have chosen Aries as my constellation because this is my zodiac sign. It stands in between Pisces and Taurus and belongs to people who are born between March 21 and April 20. Aries means Ram in latin. The line of stars are the base of a jumping ram that's why its rather long with a bend over part in the 'head'.
My favorite constellation is the 'Pyxis' due to its simplicity and how easy it is to spot and identify it among other constellations. It lies in the Southern sky and is referred to as 'The Mariner's Compass'. It represents the magnetic compass used for directional navigation. It was originally name 'Pyxis Nautica' but later shortened to 'Pyxis' for easier pronunciation.
The constellation I have chosen is Cancer. I chose this constellation because it is my zodiac sign. Naturally, I found it interesting to learn about and write an essay on my discovery and creation theory. Cancer is Latin for "Crab", The name was chosen because the representation of the the constellation is in fact a crab. The constellation is 506 sq. degrees and made up of faint stars.
I have chosen the 'Pisces' constellation because February 26th (my birthday) is one of the dates that it represents. Another reason is its one of the zodiac constellations, which makes it one of the main constellations. Pisces lies between 'Aquarius' to the west and 'Aries' to the east. Its name is also the Latin plural of fish.
I have chosen the constellation "Aries". I have chosen this constellation because it is also my Zodiac symbol. Aries is one of twelve of the Zodiac Constellations. It is in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is between Pisces and Taurus. Aries is the Latin name for ram. It's symbol is Aries.svg, which represents a ram's horns. Aries is a mid-sized constellation. It ranks 39th in overall size. It has an area of 441 square degrees, which is 1.1% of the celestial sphere. Aries represents the ram whose fleece became the Golden Fleece of Ancient Greek Mythology, even though Aries has been represented as a ram since the times of Babylon. Before the Babylonian times the stars that make up Aries formed a farmhand. Aries has been interpreted different
My favorite constellation is Leo. Leo is my astrological sign so it only seems fitting that I have a connection to it. Lions are also my favorite animal and Leo is none other than a lion, so all the stars seem to align (pun intended). Throughout many cultures Leo has had many names, but everyone of them has meant lion. The Big Dipper points to Leo making it easier to find than others. Leo is not only made of stars, but contains galaxies as well.
I choose the constellation "Gemini the twins". I choose this constellation because I think it's pretty interesting to learn about why did they put that name to those star's and the past. It's pretty cool for me to learn this too because my sign is Geminis and I want to now the significant of the constellation.
An Olympian god, Zeus was the the ruler of all the Olympian gods. But it wasn't always like this. ‘Cause, Zeus had to kill his father and draw lots with his brothers to determine who would replace their father’s position. Deprived of power, Zeus saw no other option. Either wait until the death of his father, who was immortal, or take matters into his own hands. Furthermore, after the death of his father, Zeus had to deal with the trouble of his brothers. Getting lucky with the draw, Zeus took power. However, Zeus had other conflicts, such as affairs and troubles with his wife. Identified by his thunderbolt, Zeus the god of the sky, had the power he desired. Joyful with the position acquired, Zeus was still only one god among
The constellation I have chosen is the Gemini Constellation. I have chosen the Gemini constellation because I was born under Gemini and I have always liked the idea of twins and the closeness of twins. Since the Gemini constellation is of a few sets of twins in several ancient mythologies, I thought it was a great choice. The Gemini constellation was first viewed by Ptolemy in the second century. It is best seen in the month of February, but can still be seen in April and May pretty soon after sunset. It is located close to the equator between the Taurus constellation and the Cancer constellation. It is also located northeast of the constellation Orion. It is made up of several stars, but the most important being Castor and Pollux, which share
My favourite constellation is Capricorn or ,,,The Goat", which full name in the zodiac is Capricornus. I chose it because this is my Star sign. ,,Capricornus" in Latin means ,,goat horn" or ,,horned goat", and is usually represented by a sea-goat - a hybrid of goat and fish. The constellation has the shape of triangle. The triangle corners are three brightest stars of Capricorn - α2 Capricorni (Giedi), δ Capricorni (Deneb Algiedi) and ω Capricorni.
