One fall day in early November in 2014, I went over to my friend Devon’s house because I was bored. When I got there Devon was in the shop with his dad doing different things. He had just bought a dune buggy the week before so we went for a ride, the dune buggy wasn’t that fast but still fun. Devon took me around his property and around the area near his house; it was mid-fall so most of the leaves had already fallen and covered the ground. Fall is my favorite season because of all the different colors, the oranges, reds, yellows, greens, browns and the perfect weather, not too cold but yet not too hot. Devon’s pasture is covered with hills and there’s a small creek that runs through the property. There’s only one big hill in his pasture and …show more content…

We saw a couple bunnies and tried shooting them, but they were too fast and we were in a grove of trees so they had many places to hide. Devon and I went to his pasture to find more things to shoot at but didn’t find anything, so we went to the field next to his house and saw a bunny. I’m the one that took the first shot and hit it, but I didn’t kill it. Therefore, we had to go look for it because I don’t like hurting animals and making them suffer by dying slowly. I decided I was ready to go down the big hill, so I found the clearing and started to go down. Just when I thought I was okay I clipped a tree with the front tire and broke the arm that allows you to steer the wheel, so when I turned the steering wheel to go the other way the tires were turned different ways. I tried to brace myself because I knew that I couldn’t avoid the tree that was straight in front of us. We hit the tree going about 15, which doesn’t sound fast, but when you’re in a dune buggy without seatbelts and it’s made of all metal it’s pretty fast. After we hit the tree, we just kind of sat there a minute and collected our thoughts. Both of us climbed out of the vehicle and laid on the ground in pain. I didn’t realize how bad everything hurt until this point. I hit my leg on a part of the roll cage and bruised a tendon. My wrists hurt from holding the steering wheel during the crash. Devon hit his knee on the front of the dash, which was made of metal, and his elbow hit the bottom of the roll cage.
