Choice of Exercises: Off- Season training is very important to an athlete’s season. Off-season is the opportunity to build up your strength, stamina, and speed for the upcoming season. During off-season for basketball I would choose to do both long-distance running and sprints, but focus primarily on the sprinting aspect. Long distance would include something like a timed mile, while the sprinting aspect would consist of sprints around the track for a certain number of minutes. Basketball is a back and forth game, so you need both stamina and the sprinting aspect. For arm exercises, I would do bicep curls, triceps, shoulder presses, and dumbbells. I would also include legs, including leg press, lunges, leg curls, and squats while using weights. Having strength and power is important because you are constantly …show more content…
The first half of conditioning would be spent on the track doing sprints and long distance running. After the track workout we will be go into the weight room. Half the group will focus on weights, like leg presses, lat pull-downs, leg curls, and bench press, while the other half will be doing squats, push ups, crunches and lunges.
Intensity Exercises: During off-season training the athletes will be going all out during conditioning and pushing themselves to their fullest capacity. You want to go all out in the off-season because once you start the season you start to focus on maintaining instead of building.
Volume of Exercises: The track workout will be about 45 minutes. The warm up will be 1 lap jog around the track and then the sprint workout will begin. It will consist of sprinting 10 seconds then walking 10 seconds 3 times in a row and then go to 20 seconds, 30 seconds, and then 1 minute. The weights section of the workout will consist of 3 sets of 10 repetitions on each machine and with the squats, lunges and abs workouts as
For warm ups we would run for at least 10 minutes around the track, after that we stretched and did burpees and up-downs, it was very hard work in the core and upper body. We one time had to team up with a person farthest from your weight class and hold at least a 9 lb medicine ball over our heads and run through the halls. Training was hard since I didn’t have any girls in my weight class other than smaller boys which I didn’t really want to wrestle. I decided to work with a girl that was at least 20lbs more than me, which made me push more harder.
After that we have ten to twenty sixty yard sprints. Then go straight into 4 sets of doing an eight exercise workout with forty five pound plates. This is done in rotation with stance and hand fighting. Running this and doing the sprints and plait workout alone would be almost unbearable. Knowing that there are over twenty teammates going through it right beside you helps everyone push just a little bit more.
Fitness boot camps can be run outdoor or indoor depending on the trainers and the exercises. They typically have 1-hour sessions. The training is aimed at working every part of your body with a variety of exercises. It would start with dynamic stretching and running, followed by a range of high and low-intensity exercises that may include the use of weights or heavy objects. They also include exercises using body weight such as press ups, pull ups and chin ups, and end with yoga stretches.
Each exercise has 2-3 sets and 5-6 reps for maximal power input. Higher weights and lower reps will increase strength because at
Everyday we will start our work out with the warm up, which will consist of the following:
Overtraining occurs because of an imbalance between a Physical load placed on an athlete and their coping capacity. One of the reasons why athletes may over train is because of their parents/coaches that can push them to sports and wanting them to be good. They want their child to earn a college scholarship and push them to their limits. Working harder and never taking a break, because "someone else is working around the clock to be the best", is the most warped and tired mentality that coaches and parents feed young people…The problem is a lack of education and knowledge of our own bodies. The reality is that only a select number of athletes earn scholarships every year. It is a mentality now that these athlete need to playing all year and
Focusing on the track portion of the sport, it seems like cross country but there are many aspects of it that’s it different. The workouts dealing with track focus more on the weight lifting then the actual stretching. Track deals with more sprinting since most the events in track go only for a short distance that call for sprinting. Since these are only short distances and that there are so many events that athletes can do the numbers for competitors aren’t as huge. With each event having a set number of competitors, track is not as a team oriented sport. To go farther it relies mostly on the person doing the event, with only having the exception of relay races with three other

Three weeks after the state meet, some athletes begin conditioning for the imminent season that
Sadly I could not do this for a while after I made that promise to myself because I had to pull my hip flexor. This took me out of all of the lacrosse and restricted me in baseball to only play in the infield. After that injury healed it was the beginning of summer. I started my promise, I started by getting a deck of cards. Every time I would go for a run I would flip over three cards add the up all the cards and would run that many minutes. Along with these, I took conditioning camps all over the area. The hardest being in our own high school with Kelly Foltz, her camp improved all the parts of the body, moving from the core to legs, to arms. This cycle of training by myself ended and gave me a weekend to rest before the first cross country

Training is one of the most important roles at a law enforcement agency. It is never-ending as “concepts, theories, philosophies, practices, procedures, and techniques are constantly changing to meet social needs” (Iannone et al, 2009, p. 60). Without training, even the best officer will turn into one that is not respected by his peers or society. Gone are the days when an officer is sent to the training academy and has no more except for yearly inservice. This can be accomplished with field training after the academy, roll call training, inservice, emailed updates from the training staff, and outside the agency training. It does not always have to be expensive. Most think that the effectiveness of training can’t be measured, but successful training can easily be seen through “higher morale, less job stress with its high economic cost, greater esprit de corps, a lessened need for punitive discipline, greater effectiveness, in crime suppression, increased public support and confidence, fewer errors, better
