Rough draft #2 What makes a student successful after high school? Is it the goals they set and then achieved? Is it because of the support of family and friends? or is it the teacher? Teachers are the hardest working people on the planet. They create the foundation in which a child will learn to be comfortable in life, but what makes a good teacher, what qualities do these teachers have that help a student become successful in life. Students are affected by the teacher and the teacher by the student like how Plato became one of the the greatest philosophers in the world because of his Teachers aristotle and Socrates over centuries ago. Plato even opened the first higher learning institution in the western world because of the warm affirmation of his teachers Aristotle and Socrates. Likewise the teaching world is very different from one thousand years ago such as the dwindling requirements to become a teacher which could decrease the teacher's ability to teach effectively. Many people have different ideas on how to make good teachers but that does not mean they know the right way to change it.in the article "LET ANYONE WHO HAS A COLLEGE DEGREE TEACH." retired principals James Howey and Daniel Cheever Jr. give their differing opinions on what would make the teaching system better. For example Howey says: “He says that teaching as a profession is not granted the recognition and respect it deserves. Here, I would assert that teachers have only themselves and their elected representatives to blame”. This shows that Cheever believes teachers are not respected enough while Howey believes that teachers and the people above them are responsible for the way they are treated and this reflects back on how the teacher will be reflected in a student's eye and if it will affect them in a positive or negative
Good teachers can make their students’ future better because students follow what their teachers say. On the contrary, bad teachers have the power to make their students’ future horrible because then the student will follow what the bad teachers say.
In “To Teach the journey of a teacher” by William Ayers different teaching styles are introduced. The book teaches us that nobody is a perfect teacher. A couple myths from the book include time management is essential to teaching and you learn everything you need to know about teaching in college. Everyone will have off days when they are teaching and it is not going to go perfectly. Also, you cannot really understand teaching until you are actually in a classroom experiencing it for yourself. School may teach you basic skills and situations that you may encounter, but it is not real until you actually experience a crisis for yourself. Some other myths in the book are all teachers treat their students the same and all students will perform above average. Children come from all different backgrounds and start school in different places. There is no way that teachers can treat every single student the same and ensure that they will all be above average. Overall the book was full of myths that show what other people think of teachers.
Todd Whitaker presents seventeen different practices in his book called What Great Teacher Do Differently that argue both the practices of “good” and great teachers. “Good” teachers and great teachers may possess similar skills, certifications, content knowledge, and behaviors but great teachers put their variety of skill sets, abilities to accurately self reflect, and adaptability in order to become effective teachers. Whitaker emphasizes the importance of teachers who know how they come across to people, how others receive their behavior, and the ways in which they are able to reflect on their self-awareness as one of the key components between “good” verses great teachers. I believe a teachers ability to both self reflect, correct, and
As a student, people deal with teachers for at least twelve to thirteen years of their life and not all of them are bad, but then again they are not all good either. Most teachers fall into three categories; the I Am Just Here For the Paycheck, the Shut Up I Hate Children, and the Holy Grail. Now it is understood that teachers have a hard job dealing with snot nose brats and even snottier parents, but sometimes a teacher has to over look all that and do the job to the best of the teachers ability, and some do a great job of that, but others scrap the bottom of their barrels everyday.
The pathways to postsecondary success aims to advance policies and practices that help young people enter, succeed in, and complete their postsecondary education, with a particular focus on postsecondary mathematics — an essential area for college success, and one where far too many students are underprepared when they enter college. Math is also crucial for STEM careers, which offer opportunities for social mobility and good jobs with family-sustaining wages to many young people. We prioritize strategies that support low-income students, students of colour, and first-generation university students, with the goal of making the promise of “education for all” a meaningful reality. Higher education is under great pressure to deliver on this promise, making this a moment of significant opportunity for collaboration and change.
I believe that teachers need respect and trust in order to thrive. The two go together. Trust means giving teachers (appropriate) autonomy in their classrooms, but it also means giving them influence over policy—real influence, not a few token teachers on some committee—and it means giving them control over their own professional growth. We need to stop fixing teachers and create environments in which teachers themselves fix their own profession. We need to trust them to do
As teachers, student success is also a priority. It is important to remember as a teacher that success is measured in different ways. Success can be getting a good grade and for another student it could an increase in involvement. Whatever the success teachers must be able to help each student reach their full potential.
In today’s society it is nearly impossible to survive without an education. It is important that we have the right kind of teachers to accomplish certain goals. A good teacher is one who listens to their students and tries to answer any questions they might have about anything. I think that a good teacher should also be able to listen to others opinions and not argue with them but try to understand their point of view on the subject.
I am striving to have many educational honors in high school and I plan on expanding that accomplishment in college. I take pride in all my work and always strive to be the best I can. Although being successful in school is a challenge, I have faced struggles along the way. I have had to learn how to balance a wide variety of things. Sports, clubs, volunteer work, family time, and a job have all been extras, to go along, with AP and dual credit classes. I have been able to make time for all these things and be successful in them. In the future, I would like to major in something I enjoy before I go to grad school. I have been thinking about majoring in accounting, social work, or kinesiology. I would love to be able to study abroad for a year
Have you ever thought about however you attending to achieve success within the future? At the first day of high school in my senior year. I can tell that I will not be able to graduate on time. By that moment, I am already giving up my motivation. Not until I met Reba, a best friend of mine who stay by my side and helped me with all my troubles.
Being a teacher is not an easy task as many people could think. To be a teacher does not only imply to know the subject to be taught, it also includes being willing to constantly improve oneself integrally, as much as updating the resources and materials one uses in teaching. Reflecting and analyzing over and over again the best way to teach to learn and how to make students to extend what has been learned. The many hours spend in the classroom will never be enough to plan lessons, prepare materials, review pupils tasks and exams, as well, all the administrative requirements one has to cover for whatever institution we work. Besides all this a good teacher, a professional one, will have to find the time to keep preparing to improve
Another point that makes a good teacher would be his/her patience. Teachers should not get upset or even worse, give up on the students who are not so strong in their studies. Instead, they should have the patience to slowly coach them, give them extra lessons, and find different ways to encourage them. Let them know that the teacher
The education habits of students are rooted in them from the earliest days of their educational careers. The different influences on students, whether it be inside educational institutions, or outside is huge. The teacher of a classroom is the first and most pertinent influence in a student's educational career. Teachers provide students with the basic skills they would need to survive not only in the academic world, but also the world beyond. The relationship between teachers and their students is the key element in creating an educational atmosphere that is both pleasant and effective.
When I think about teachers that I have had in the past, several different ones come to my mind. Each of these educators stands out in my mind for a variety of diverse reasons. Whether it is their sense of humor, their tactfulness, their love of the subject matter, their fanatical and sporadic behavior, or their yearning to be childish themselves, I can still remember at least one quality of every teacher I have ever encountered. Every one of these teachers conveyed subject material to their students just as they were educated and employed to do. However, I trust that every professional in the world has an abundance of opportunity for improvement; teachers could discover and improve themselves merely by having
