Food is Love demonstrates, however, that food ads were unusual in many types of handling insecurities, including anxiety woman body image, the status of the class, decorum, health approaches, and performance as mothers and wives. A single ad could suggest, for example, a woman who failed to choose the best brand of bread for his family risked being a carefree wife and mother, serving unhealthy food with empty calories, and whose working class palate revealed a lack of sophistication. However, if women buy the right foods and serve them with love, advertisers told them, their husbands and children would love to change it. Advertisers food were willing to tie their products to a variety of good causes and attributes,

Commercial messages and political campaign displays have been found in the ruins of Pompeii and ancient Arabia. Lost and found advertising on papyrus was common in ancient Greece and ancient Rome. Wall or rock painting for commercial advertising is another manifestation of an ancient form of advertising, which is present today in many parts of Asia, Africa and South America. The tradition of wall painting can be traced back to Indian rock art paintings that date back to 4000 BC.
In ancient China, the earliest known advertising was oral, as recorded in the Classic of Poetry (11th to 7th centuries BC) bamboo flutes played to sell candy. General advertising taken as a calligraphic sign and inked papers. Fruits and vegetables are sold in the city square from the backs of carts and wagons and their proprietors street callers (town criers) to announce their whereabouts for the convenience of customers are used. The first collection of this type of advertising met in "Les Crieries de Paris", a poem of the thirteenth century by Guillaume de Villeneuve.
In the 18th century advertisements started to appear in weekly newspapers in England. These early print advertisements were used mainly to promote books and newspapers, which became become more affordable with advances in printing; and medicines, which are increasingly sought after disease ravaged Europe. However, false advertising and so-called "quack" advertisements became a problem, which ushered in the regulation of advertising
Newspaper ads that include colors, photos and artwork to attract readers attention are considered displays. Displays are very important because they attract the attention of the readers in areas where the simple text in the columns do not. It’s also important that the displays are different and exciting. They need to catch the readers eye, and give interesting information
Advertisements, big or small, stand at almost every corner all over the world. They convince, trick, and sell products as well as ideas to people. Brands use advertising, essential in today's economy, for anything from food to technology. The company Banana Boat uses advertisements to sell their new sun comfort sunscreen through a plethora of techniques that affect and move people to buy their sunscreen.
Advertising is everywhere, sometimes it is subtle, other times it is overt. Propaganda posters are a form of advertising; they were used extensively by many countries in the 1940’s during World War II. By attempting to reach the public directly with a powerful and emotional message, they became an effective means to deliver that message. Similar techniques are used in modern advertising. A 2015
Resulting in many companies perceiving advertising as a risky business. Although, “Between 1918 and 1923, a greater percentage of articles in the advertising trade journal Printers’ Ink, were devoted to ways of convincing “ancient” corporations that advertising was a given of modern industrialism than were devoted to advertising and merchandising techniques.” (Ewen 3). Thus, introducing the need for advertising to the people as well as large corporations. Ultimately, this advertised advertising, creating a new way for old corporations to see how advertising benefited both the companies themselves and market development.
Anyone can eat soul food on any particular day of the year. However, it is something distinctive about preparing and eating soul food on Thanksgiving Day. Soul food is considered to be fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, breaded fried okra and yams. The preparation and consumption of soul food have been a staple in my family’s tradition for many generations. Perchance the food tastes better because of the cool crisp air, or maybe it’s the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. I honestly don’t know why, but I feel like this should be a paten scientific theory. Everything just feels right on this day, as if the world halts for a split second and it is at harmony. Possibly that is why the food is cooked to perfection. Even the process of preparing the meal is practically better than eating the food.
Advertisements are very successful and can have a big impact on the culture of people and the way people live their lives. For example, one of the biggest advertisements changed one big important do a lot of people end up doing, marriage. Around 1956, and so on, the De Beers diamond corporation advertised the engagement ring, as a sign of love and togetherness. This went on for so long, that people have started to believe in this and it was adopted to people's idea of marriage. In these days, you can rarely see anyone getting married without a diamond ring, and even if they don’t have one, they plan on getting one once they gain enough money.
Advertisements: this is a common way of advertising that has many forms. It could be billboards, magazine posters in magazines or newspapers to mention a few.
Adverts have been around for hundreds of years, and have since developed hugely as technology has enabled us to advance even more. Adverts have developed from illustration with text in the early 1700’s to large high definition photograph/illustration on billboard or TV advertisements with high definition. (Adage, website, 1999) Advertising in the 21st century doesn’t just stop at billboards and TV advertisements. We have now gone onto using every space available to us to advertise, we are surrounded by adverts, or even advertisements surrounds us. Its endless, everywhere we go, we see adverts posted on a wall or on websites that we visit.
There are also many advertising posters. One of the most recognizable pieces of work is one by J. Howard Miller, showing a classic image of a woman wearing a red and white bandanna and a blue shirt (almost recreating the “Old Glory”) who is shown looking directly at the viewer while flexing her bicep with the slogan "We Can Do It!”. There is another poster that is probably not as famous and widespread as Miller’s (due to copyright ownership) but equally, if not more important: the poster by the Saturday Evening Post cover artist, Norman Rockwell.
In the earliest methods of advertisements, a man named William Caxton printed what could be Britains first advert in 1477 and from then advertising developed into a genuine business and it wasn’t long before people started to offer themselves as specialists in advertising - the earliest known record of an advertising agency dates back to 1786. (1). A couple centuries after Caxton, followed the rest of the advertisement as we know of today; with a brief time line dating the different approach through the years starting, 1704 - America published their first ever newspaper Ad, 1835 - First billboards appear, 1920 - Air on the radio advertisement, 1941 - First Television commercial, 1978 - The first widely publicised example of online
Advertising has always been an important part of our society. The history of advertising can be traced to pre-modern history when it served an important purpose by allowing sellers to effectively compete with other merchants for the attention of clients in Ancient Egypt. From 1704 when the first newspaper advertisement was announced, it gradually grows into a major force in American society based primarily on newspapers and magazines (Ad Age Advertising Century, 1999). It not only helps to raise the target demographics’ awareness of issues, but also educate consumers with the benefits of the product. However, advertising cannot target a particular person before the emerging of World Wide Web.
Within the class’ course, we studied the evolution of food advertisements and how they target women specifically. We broke down the message within a few and how they can be interpreted. We read chapter 5 in Can’t Buy My Love by Jean Kilbourne. This chapter gave us more insight of how early food ads targeted women and do so more now.
In The Symposium Diotima’s speech on love it is the most important, therefore she should be the last speech to help impact the overall meaning. Although, she actually is not the last speech, Alcibiades is. This leads to questioning over why Alcibiades is at the end if the speech is just drunken madness. Diotima’s speech focuses on love and places important emphasis on the idea of beauty pertaining to love. She also focuses on the way a boy and a man’s relationship are centered around love because of the mentorship that they obtain with each other. It does not make sense in a book about love to have the ending be Alcibiades drunk confessing his love for Socrates.Bataille has led me to the belief that it does make sense for Alcibiades to be the end of the Symposium because of the objective for humans to reach continuity through a drunken state of being. After reading Erotism, Diotima cannot be the final speech in The Symposium.

People get the latest information from their smart phone or tablet instantly. As a result, apart from the old media, new media such as mobile advertisement YouTube (video form) is the widespread and popular way for advertisement.
