The score I applied for my Social/Cultural score/evaluation was a 7. The goal I have set is to enjoy life and spend more time with the spouse and children. This goal is not only realistic but it is being achieved. We have been spending dedicated time each weekend to enjoy our time together. I’m very proud in getting to talk with the kids and seeing their view of what is important to them in life. The thing I need to improve is finding time to talk with

In an effort to learn how to identify individuality of a person within a cultural framework different from my own I have used this tool to perform a transcultural assessment of C.H. an African American woman. The following assessment provides a description of the subject, U.S.Census data of the identified culture of the subject, data in relation to the factors of the assessment and evaluation of my personal thoughts prior to performing the assessment.

After taking the assessment form, I scored 32 points, meaning that I have given thought to and are actively involved in talking and addressing some of the issues that was stated in the assessment. I think that this score is spot on for me, because I feel that I am always willing to learn about new or different cultures that are either related or have some types of relation to my own culture, or different from my culture. For example, one of my best friends is Haitian. I learned that majority of Haitians are from African descent because the island was originally used as a port for the North American and South American slave trading industry. One other thing that I learned as my best friend and I grew older, was that in a traditional Haitian

Purnell’s Model for Cultural Competencies is represented by a circle. The perimeter of the circle is made up of three different layers, each representing something different. The outer layer represents the global society; the middle layer represents the individual’s family and the inner layer of the perimeter represents the individual. The center of the circle is divided up into twelve different categories, which look like slices of a pie. Each of these categories represents part of one of the 12 different cultural domains. The very center of the circle, inside the pie slices is a small black circle, this represents all the unknown information about the individual (Dayer-Berenson, 2014).
