The Civil War was a very serious war that occurred in the 1800’s. It was a sad and bloody battle that lasted four years. The war was caused for many reasons. It was a conflict between the North and South. The South wanted slaves and they thought the north wanted to end the souths way of life and free their slaves. Slavery was needed for the south. It was how the south made most of their money.
The war would have been good for the south and allowed them to keep their slaves and live their normal lives. It would have allowed the south to become its own country and have their own government. So the south wanted to secede from the union and form the Confederate States of America. This could have changed America forever. The Union didn’t want war. They new slavery was bad but didn’t bother the South. This war could have been avoided. They could have came to many agreements to live their lives in piece. But the issue was to much for the south and the north and the Civil War was certain.

And according to the U.S. Constitution slavery was legal. The Union started to get mad about this and they new war was about to happen. They first battle of the Civil War was the Battle of Fort Sumter in 1861. This battle was won by the confederate because the North wasn’t expect the South to be for real about the war and they captured the fort. This was the start of the American Civil War. The next battle was The Battle of Bull Run which was also a confederate victory. They Confederates were winning the war at the start of the war but the Union new they had to do something to win this war. They started making more weapons and getting more soldiers. The Union won their first battle in 1862 in the Battle of Antietam. They won with a strategic victory and they started winning a lot more. They then went on to win the Battle of Gettysburg. The war kept going for four
The American Civil War was a war against the North and the South during the 1860’s. The Southern removed themselves from the Union. The U.S didn’t allow states to be removed from the Union. The North also wanted to get rid of Slavery but the South wanted African American slaves to help them and work for them. The War started when the army in the South attacked a military base in South Carolina. The American Civil War was the first war that killed thousands of Americans in history. During the Civil War thousands of Americans soldiers died. United States had the most slaves in the world, but after the Civil War slaves weren’t allowed anymore.
The civil war was drastic event that was caused not just by one simple action. It was the product of a snowball effect from multiple disagreements and differences between the North and South. The region's, railroads, and slavery are some of the roles played in causing the civil war from 1861-1865.
The Civil War occurred between 1861 and 1865. Soldiers from the Union and Confederacy disagreed on the purpose of the war. Southerners believed that slavery was the primary cause of the war. Union soldiers were attempting to
The Civil War was a very significant time in American history. The Civil War was fought between the Confederate States of America and the United States of America. Most people say the Civil War was a war that was fought to end slavery, which it was for most of the population. The Civil War was fought from 1861 to 1865 to determine the survival of the Union. The South wanted slaves to help run there farming plantations. Southern slave owners did not want their way of life threatened or changed, life had been the same for them for generations. Those Americans from the North were considered more progressive and had more influence from other cultures which helped open their eyes to the horrors of slavery. But for many of the men, going to war was a chance to escape boredom and some came because it was the right thing to do (p. 28).
In my belief, the civil war couldn't have been avoided. The biggest cause of the civil war was the dispute over the future of the slavery. Without the was, there was no possibility for the southern state to abolish slavery because slaves were a;ready being used for a large variety of jobs. Southerners believed that slaves were cheaper and more manageable form of labor who could be trained to work in the factories. Slavery was economic foundation for the south, which meant they wouldn't have ended slavery without the war.
The Civil War was caused by the economics of slavery and the political control of that system, specifically being states’ rights on the federal powers of the government, the territorial expansion of the united states that led to the division of the two sides, and the election of President Abraham Lincoln which was the final event that sent the nation to war.
The Civil War was a brutal war that broke out in 1861 and lasted another four years in America between the North and the South or the Union against the Confederate. The war was almost inevitable because of issues such as slavery that spurred the secession of the North and the South. The Civil War broke out because of sectionalism which is loyalty to one’s own state or region rather than the country as a whole. Tensions on the debate of slavery caused economic and political problems between the North and South. As the war approached, the South leaned more towards independence by seceding from the Union.
After thoroughly assessing past readings and additional research on the Civil War between the North and South, it was quite apparent that the war was inevitable. Opposed views on this would have probably argued that slavery was the only reason for the Civil War. Therefore suggesting it could have been avoided if a resolution was reached on the issue of slavery. Although there is accuracy in stating slavery led to the war, it wasn’t the only factor. Along with slavery, political issues with territorial expansion, there were also economic and social differences between North and South. These differences, being more than just one or two, gradually led to a war that was bound to happened one way or another.
I think the war could have been avoidable because if we would have made a treaty to stop slavery then there wouldn’t have to be any war at all. The only reason they started wars and fights is because of slavery. The people that owned the slaves weren’t being fair and neither was the government. When Abraham Lincoln came along he tried to stop slavery and set them free and live their lives on their own with their families. But, Abraham had a slave but his wife owned her/him not Lincoln.
There has been much debate as to whether the Civil War could have been avoided or not. The Evansville Daily Journal argues that the Civil War was inevitable, but Alexander Stephens disagrees and proposes that the war could have been avoided. Stephen’s argument is superior to the Evansville Daily Journal one because it objectively talks about the recent changes in the United States, explains the different views between the North and South, and tries to convince people that a war is not necessary.
The Civil War, often called the War for Southern Independence began on April 12, 1861. The main cause of the war was slavery. The southern states depended on slaves to help grow crops which were the main source of income for the south. Slavery was illegal in all of the northern states but most people actually were neutral about it. The main conflict was if slavery should be permitted in the newly developing western territories.
A Civil War is a battle between the same citizens in a country. The American Civil War was fought from 1861 to 1865 to determine the independence for the Confederacy or the survival of the Union. By the time Abraham Lincoln was elected president in 1861, in the mist of 34 states, the constant disagreement caused seven Southern slave states to their independence from the United States and formed the Confederate States of America. The Confederacy, generally known as the South, grew to include eleven states. The states that remained devoted to the US were known as the Union or the North. The number one question that is never completely understood about the Civil War is what caused the war. There were multiple events that led to the groundbreaking, bloody, and political war.
The civil war was mainly sparked by tensions between the north and the south. Both sides rarely agreed on topics and could never make a compromise. Slavery was a big reason for the start of the civil war, but the causes don’t end there. Although some may say that political or economic reasons started the civil war between the north and the south, political reasons were the real cause. This is because of important decisions made by the government, and the south seceding.
Many causes led to the Civil War. This all happened around the mid 1800s. It was a conflict between the Northern and Southern states. Both sides had their own view on slavery, and their separate views caused contentions between the two. Both had different views on whether to expand or stop slavery growth to the West, or have slavery at all.
One idea how the United States could have prevented war from breaking out was that the government could have resolved much better than they did, creating temporary compromises. The civil war was triggered by the northern and southern states taking the issues of slavery, states’ rights, and westward expansion to the extreme. Congress tried to make compromises about this, like the Missouri Compromise for example, but it didn’t work because the Supreme Court overruled it as unconstitutional. The Missouri Compromise meant that any state above Missouri were free states, but since it was unconstitutional, this allowed those states to be slave states. This delighted Southerners and enraged Northerners. With the Supreme Court taking sides, and Congress making compromises doomed to fail, the country was in an even deeper depression
