The civil war was drastic event that was caused not just by one simple action. It was the product of a snowball effect from multiple disagreements and differences between the North and South. The region's, railroads, and slavery are some of the roles played in causing the civil war from 1861-1865. The region in the North was the polar opposite from the South. In document one, it provides the railroads in 1860 which mostly occur in the Northern region going east to west. This implies that transportation was needed more for the North than South, which made North self-sufficient. With the North acquiring transportation routs, it had increased in industrial production. The South was overflowing with plantations, and had eighty-eight percent of slave laborers while the North only with twelve percent shown in document two. Since the South was strictly only agricultural, they had to depend on the North for industrial supplies. Document 3 implies that without slaves, the agricultural production and economy would plummet rapidly. In document 5 it was mentioned that the lives of slaves in the South was almost like a vacation and wonderful. It was said that they can sleep when ever, women do little work, have protection, comforts and necessities to live. With that put, it made many people view slavery as a great thing so it wouldn’t get taken away from the South. In 1859 tensions between the North and South increased from the attempt for a slave uprising. Document 6 John Brown led a retaliation against slavery in the South, but was killed before he could follow threw with his plan. Even though his plan failed South feared that rebellions would rise up against them in the south. The south believed that the north was plotting slave uprising everywhere, which caused whites to murder other whites from the fear of losing
