Later start times, schools all over the states have been going back and forth between should schools have earlier start times or not. But schools shouldn't start later because it's dangerous and costs money. Schools shouldn't have late start times because it's dangerous and costs money against the school districts.

School sports have been a costly addition to after school activities. And districts have talked about canceling them.Therefore, school sports should be canceled to give students more time to study, to improve the U.S. academic rating, and save the district money.

Making kids go to school during the summer would take a toll on the way they act towards their classmates—especially towards their teachers. Some students would try to act out and get into trouble so they can go home and relax. Others might even go to the extent of getting suspended or expelled so they wouldn't have to go to school at all.

The pros of four-day school are good for saving districts money. The one day off saving money on the service they pay to help the student such as transportation. The four day school week improve student and teacher attendance. On the extra day off they could schedule dentist appoint it and other appointments that need to be done, This means fewer substitute teachers. A teacher with the day off come back to school refresh and focus on the week. On the day of student and teacher can spend time with their families. They could go to a museum or go hiking and bond together.

First of all, year-round schooling should be banned because of summer jobs. Some kids may want to participate in summer jobs like teaching recreational sports or working at an ice cream stand. Therefore, if kids are at school they won't get time to work over the summer and some kids want the money to put towards college.

My first reason school should not start later because of the transportation. Transportation is a key in why school shouldn't start later because if school starts later they will have to change or get a new bus schedule. Transportation can also be messed up because it might have to change your parents work schedule and it just messes up everything. Transportation can also be effective if you take the bus because they will have to schedule different times for the busses. If kids do go to school year round then the poverty rate could go down because possibly kids could get a better education if they go to school all year round. Also there could be less crime from kids if they go to school year round. There have been some good points from the people that are against year round school also, such as there will probably be more kids that drop out of school because it is too much for them. Also it will create mayhem in the schools. One week is not enough time to plan for the upcoming school year. If there was any teacher that was asked the question is one week enough time for you to get ready for an upcoming school year? There would be majority of them say no. How about this, ask a kid if they want a chunk of their summer break in the winter. Majority of the kids would most likely say no. This is what the point of this whole thing is. Year round school is hard on everybody. Whether you are a teacher, a kid, even just a regular parent. No matter what happens, life will go on, but how about the people of the United States just sit down and think, is this really what you want? Is this what you were hoping would happen? A normal day can turn into a day filled with icy cold snow and warm hot chocolate just by one call. No matter what one chooses to do there always seems to be a trend as one gets older. This trend is that in the grades kindergarten through fifth grade, children love snow days to stay outside and play; then in grades sixth through ninth, children love snow days to stay inside and watch movies; finally children tenth through twelfth grade, children love snow days to again go outside and play.

I am against year round schools because I think it causes a lot of stress for students, parents, and teachers. There is no definite results stating that year round schools are beneficial. Year round schools are not beneficial because they spend an unnecessary amount of money and have ridiculous, conflicting, schedules.

For a period people have debated whether or not to get rid of school sports. Students can get off track of learning when they're playing sports, districts realized they could save over 150,000 dollars in a year, and students have extra time to do homework and study. Therefore, schools should not have sports because kids can prevent distractions, schools could save a great deal of money, students can have more time to learn.

If schools do not start making school year-round, the crime rate will just increase rapidly. It is becoming very hard for a lot of parents to afford daycare and babysitters for their children year-round. By kids being in school longer, the parents will not have to pay as much for daycare. This can help families who do not have enough money or struggle to make ends meet. Should schools go to a 4 day school week instead of 5 days? This has been a hot topic especially the states that don’t have as large of an economy. A poll where 2,700 random people were polled about 67% favoured a 4 day school week(university of Scranton). The reason why school districts are going to a 4 day school week is to save money and the states that you see switching to a 4 days are states that have economic problems such as Oklahoma. You won’t have to run the electricity or pay for buses. The only question is does it hurt students education but the statistics are showing that is clearly not the case one bit. 4 day school week would be better for schools without a doubt because you save money and kids will be more refreshed and not burned out also their behavior is showed to become better.

The snow falls, but melts as soon as it touches the cool asphalt. I watch from the desk. The snow goes on for 10 more minutes. All of my friends in public schools are off for a snow day. In this case it’s not really snowing. Then again all those kids will have to make up that day at the end of the year. Is it really worth it? All the while, private schools do not have to make up the day or even close! Private schools should have the freedom to set their school calendar and make inclement weather decisions without regard to the public school calendar.

I think students should not have an 8 hour school day. Most kids do not want to go to school longer than 8 hours. On debate.org a poll named “Should School Days be Shorter” show me that 89% of students said yes and 11% said no. My first reason is that “Students would get home much faster and they’ll have more time for homework and other activities after school.”Also, having a shorter school day would get students to have enough sleep and be energized the next day. My third reason is that teachers would work fewer hours and therefore, would get less pay.” So I believe having a shorter school day could benefit the school district to save money and use it for field trips and sports. Students and the school district can be successful with a shorter school day.
