Should Child Soldiers Be Prosecuted For Children's Rights

Child soldiers are a problem that not many people think about anymore because people may believe that they are not a relevant issue.Child soldiers are still a very relevant and important issue. With terrorist groups like the infamous ISIS recruiting children.Former Child soldiers deserve amnesty because they don’t have a choice when becoming a soldier, they will make use of their second chance, and not all child soldiers are killers.

Around the globe, in the past and present, children are being recruited to fight as soldiers in wars sometimes as young as 5 and up until they are 18 or older. These children soldiers should not be given amnesty because giving them amnesty could give others encouragement to keep using them, everyone has the same rights which means everyone has the same consequences, and some child soldiers have committed the most violent and harsh acts in wartime, and they can be dangerous to keep in our country.

Children have been forced to fight in the army, in the middle of a war. Ages 9-13 are given deadly weapons in a innocent hand for war matters. Whatever the general says, they do. Most of these children are threatened with their lives, or threatened with their loved ones lives. No matter what, they have to listen to the generals command. Even though these children committed horrible acts during their time in war they should be given amnesty or legally forgiven by the United Nations. Others may have their own opinion on this situation but these child soldiers should be given amnesty.

Although some may argue that child soldiers should be given amnesty and not be punished for their crimes they are wrong. For example, they had a decision and many chances to not commit crimes, but most child soldiers decided to keep on living and kill their families. In the article, “Child Soldiers: Victims or Perpetrators”, they discuss that child soldiers join because they get tricked. As it states, “Children are forced by commanders through false promises, drugs and things which you can’t even imagine, to kill innocent civilians, other children and even their own families.” This shows kids could’ve denied being a soldier but they easily fall for trick to join then they decide to kill their families because they get told to do so.

Child soldiers should be given amnesty because they were forced into having to go to war and if they refused to then they were either shot or killed. They were drugged if they said yes so then they will actually go out into war and fight. These kids knew what they were doing but at the same time they did know what they were doing and they couldn't resist it because they would be shot or most likely killed. So think about it if you were in charge of a country with child soldiers asking for amnesty would you give the child soldiers

Child soldiers should be granted amnesty, because they were forced into their position. They were kidnapped and forced to be apart of a militia. They did not have a choice

The issue of if child soldiers should be granted amnesty or not is not a simple yes or no deal. While most of the time child soldiers should be given amnesty, there are also many situations where people don’t see it fit to give them amnesty. There are many factors to consider in this very controversial topic.

Child soldiers should be given amnesty for what they did in the battlefield. Usually they are all drugged up by their commanders to know what they're doing is wrong.

One of the many reasons why child soldiers should have amnesty is because if they don’t get in the commander will kill he/she if they try to run away because they have no choice but to be drugged and go kill or get killed in general. The soldiers don’t know they are getting drugged badley. Child soldiers are not morally responsible for their actions. Children are often forced into fighting and have little choice over whether or not they enlist. They are following orders of adults rather than acting of their own free will. The first reason child soldiers should be given amnesty, is because since they were being forced into being soldiers by having their lives threatened, they were scared for their lives and were scared to go against the orders of the people who were forcing them. Some would argue that the children were being brainwashed and were being told that what they were doing was the best and only option for them. And since they are little and do not know any better, they agreed, not understanding what they were about to do. For some of the people in the world you might think that child soldiers are criminals I think different. Why I think different is that they are not criminals they are victims not criminals. How would you define ‘child soldier?’ Child soldiers are defined as ‘any children under the age of 18 who are recruited by a state or non-state armed group.’ It is estimated that there are about 300,000 child soldiers that are active in conflicts around the world. I believe child soldier should be given amnesty because drugs were involved, most were forced into the situation, and they were robbed of their innocence. Drugs can play a role in people’s behavior, no matter if it's an adult, a teen, or a kid.

Children all across world are being exploited as child soldiers. Everyday kids younger the age of 10 are putting their lives on the line mostly by force. ¨Over the last ten years, two million children have been killed in conflict. Over one million have been orphaned, over six million have been seriously injured or permanently disabled and over ten million have been left with serious psychological trauma.¨(Children In Conflict). A child soldier is a child with armed forces; they’re trained to fight, cook, be porters, messengers, informant spies, etc. Countries all across the world have been using children to fight, places like the United Kingdom, Africa, and Asia lean on children to do their dirty work regardless of what laws are put into place for recruitment age.
