My SRL (self-regulated learning) survey suggests that I am prepared for online courses. My overall scores for Metacognition, Strategies, and Motivation were all rated high. My SRL feedback breaks down each of the three scores to a subsection, each subsection gives you detailed analysis on how you should do while attending WGU. I plan on taking the feedback from my SRL and applying to make my studying habits, testing skills, and my new motivation to excel even further in my school career. So far I feel that I am handling the course load and completing the assignments on time while allocating adequate time to read and absorb the material in the online textbook. Furthermore, in my opinion, the course load assigned each unit is at the appropriate level for a class at this academic level.

There are many characteristics for online learners. My characteristics are scared, overwhelmed, and excited all in the same breath. However there are three main characteristics found in every person, entry characteristics, participation behaviors, and course outcomes. Such characteristics can be broken down into age, race, gender, and employment status. With all the publicity over online courses, great professors alike have been determined to find out whether online courses are just as effective as face-to-face classes. There have been some controversies over the situation; therefore, several studies have been made. One study by Adam Driscoll, Karl Jicha, Andrea Hunt, Lisa Tichavsky, and Greatchen Thompson shows that given the appropriate pedagogy or instruction, online courses is just as an effective teaching format as face-to-face classes (Driscoll, Jicha, Hunt, Tichavsky, & Thompson, 2012). The study showed that when comparing online courses against face-to-face courses, the midterm scores for both teaching platforms are the same. The Module 2 is covering Interstate Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) Standards’ Standard #7: Planning for Instruction. Oh, I have a long list of questions related to objectives and lesson preparations. How to determine which parts to teach? When should I teach them? Are there any guidelines? Will I be able to choose books to use for the unit? Do I decide what is necessary and what is not? Planning is part of the job. I have no problem with it because I thrive from precision and planning. However, the amount of planning is excessive – to a novice. I have to check with the curriculum of my school district and the State. Also, I will have to ensure that my lessons abide the federal/state laws. But, that does not stop there. I have to acknowledge my students’ needs. There are several steps to validate my teaching.
Many educators operate their classrooms using a “learning theory” that they feel optimizes the best learning environment for their students. As an educator it is very important to create your own customized learning theory to use in your classroom. A customized learning theory is developed to create an optimum learning environment for students. Educators have to research and put into practice the ideas that they feel may work best in their classroom. In this paper, I will be discussing my own customized learning theory incorporating theoretical perspectives that I believe make an ideal learning environment.
If you have the drive to succeed, you can get just as much out of the online education as you can from a normal classroom.

Make a plan for working on each assignment and avoid procrastination. Procrastination is one of the biggest challenges for any student. It is easy to put off an assignment until the last minute only to turn in work that is not to the best of your ability because you were rushed.
We are able to begin to develop abilities in self-directed-studying during our first-year in the college, to be an effective student. We will be spending a considerable time getting information and learning the continuous creation of new information, new skills due to the fast pace of change in culture and technology, and an access to info. Much with this learning will happen at our own initiative. We as a person will have the main responsibility for implementing, planning, and even appraising our learning effort. This what we should understand as self-directed learning.
There were three assessments and evaluations built into the course. A pre-test survey a post-test survey and a course evaluation. The purpose was to gain “feedback to designers for making course improvements” (Morrison, Ross, Kalman, & Kemp, 2013, p.318). Most of the participants completed the pre and post-test assessment for the course. The pre and post-test was designed using survey monkey and the link was provided with the module. This surveys collected data about their initial and post course knowledge of an online course. The pre-test survey data was compared with the post-test data assess the learning gain and to see the outcome after completing the course. A pretest is designed to heighten the student’s awareness of the content by providing cues to the key points of the upcoming instruction (Morrison, Ross, Kalman, & Kemp, 2013, p. 177).
