From October 2004 till March 2010 while working with Army Materiel Command (AMC), in the office of the CIO, I was responsible for several missions one of which was in strategic planning and technical implementations. AMC is a major Army command (4 Star General) with over 100k in personnel and a 53 billion dollar budget. The command has a worldwide presence with over 140 locations. AMC is the Army’s logistics provider and as such, has several productions based commands in which builds tanks, aircraft, radios, missiles and other war fighting components. In the world of the “Profession of Arms”, information flow is essential within the organization and only if the information is legal to flow from one person to another. However, in some cases, the flow of information goes to the wrong elements and result in compromise of the security posture. Such instances are when the media and embedded journalists are within a military organization during military operations.

“To support and defend the constitution of the United States,” these words are part of the oath of office every officer swears to when they accept their commission in the United States military. The 2nd amendment of the constitution protects every citizens’ rights to carry firearms. However, military service members have this right infringed upon every day. Despite receiving advanced firearms training, United States military members are not permitted to carry firearms on military instillations. With the increase in terrorism and the targeting of United States Military personnel this policy must be change to protect those who are charged with protecting us.

Sensitive Items is a range of items which varies from those which are essential to the mission to those which contain information which is sensitive in nature (i.e. giving access to secure communication, movement of troops, their equipment, support lines or the general idea of the mission.) There are many reasons these items need to be secure and accountability maintained for them. Every field, be it military, army, navy or the air force are all recognized by their attire as it shows their homogeneity to their particular field. Talking about the military uniform, it shows their collective identity to their rank and also a status symbol within the military structure. The non fulfilment of wearing a proper uniform might result in breaking the rules and showing indiscipline towards the duties and their work.

We are expected to have everything we need for any class. At any given time one of the RTOs might want to have a discussion about “on combat” and if I do not have it, it will reflect very poorly upon my class, my RTO, my department, and myself. Ever since I was 2, I had never lived in one city for more than 2 years. For most military families, this was the usual routine for a kid and after a while you would get extremely used to it.
