Throughout my early teen years, I was exposed to different mediums of art and discovered that I could express myself through more channels than just paper. Although Barry found comfort in her 11 x 17 newsprint and some paint, I was able to focus my energy on making music and taking photographs. Without my art teachers, I wouldn’t have the expressive outlet I do today. My childhood was not filled with unhappiness as Lynda Barry’s was, but from both backgrounds, we found a warmth from the exposure of art that the educational system gave to us.
It must have been 13 years or so since I have been to the art museum, back in elementary school, on a one of a kind field trip. 13 years is way too long to have been away from the art museum, as my experience this year reminded me that. It was a beautiful, sunny October day, although it felt like July, and it was an even better day to talk a walk through the vast, mesmerizing pieces of art that the museum has to offer. The North Carolina Museum of Art provides an abundance of artwork from various time periods, cultures, and one can find art anywhere from Egyptian, to classical, to modern and contemporary art. The artwork that the museum provides not only displays an abundance of artwork, but
Creativity is an aspect that has a wide span in our existence. our existence has evolved through the means of creativity. Although when someone usually thinks about creativity they think about the arts and music. yet creativity is not limited to pretty and aesthetic items, but to the power of creation. The power of metamorphosis; transforming something or creating it anew. In society the ideal of creativity is sadly mixed with the perception of the arts and not taken with high regard. Now we live in a society where logos is more respected than pathos. Especially in the city of D.C where individuals in suits roam the city creating an impenetrable mist of sophisticatedness, with a population of 88percent of college graduates. yet in the heart of D.C. within this paper we will use the case of the Mansion on O st, a museum, library, and thrift shops. By switching up the different settings to gloomier places like prisons and graveyards, Watterson illustrates the suffocating environment felt at school. When one thinks of prison, they envision prisoners tied to ball and chains in black and white jumpers,
It is also imperative to catalog difficulties and issues that arise so that there are references in the event those challenges ascend again (2013). Hass and Hahn (2014) discuss their plan of using painting to bring populations together. The two artists seek out the strengths of the community. It is interesting to note that Hass and Hahn speak of informal communities and how these groups of individuals
In this ambitious work, Sarah Thornton opens to doors to the art world and anyone is welcome to enter. The organization of Seven Days in the Art World allows the reader to easily follow Thornton as she experiences the art world from buying, selling, to creating art. Seven Days in the Art World delivers an entertaining account and perspective on the art world. This book is an excellent resource for not only students, educators, and art enthusiasts, but also those who don 't know a thing about the art world. In reviewing this book, the principal criteria included detailed information on each location Thornton visited giving any reader a sense of belonging through detail, explaining art terminology, and connecting the locations she visits one another in various ways. Although Thornton changes her tone toward the middle of the book and an artist contradicts himself making parts of the book confusing, these problems are only a minor distraction to the story being told.
“Painting today is pure intuition and luck and taking advantage of what happens when you splash the stuff down. “- Francis Bacon. However when I learnt more about history of art and the way each movement and happenings in the world inspired artist to make new works, I was able to see much more than just a canvas with random paints and sketches. The interesting part about this concept is that each piece of art could be interpreted in many different ways. In contemporary art there isn’t right and wrong, each of us view and find different meanings and connections with artworks.
Creativity and art is becoming such a rising normality in our everyday culture. A new mural with a political statement is popping up every other week. A person visiting the local pizza joint downtown can look up on the wall and see a piece of art with a price tag next to it. A local artist painted it and where else to get public attention than Brooklyn Pizza, in the heart of buzzing downtown. The art scene is growing quickly, and thanks to the creative means, so is the opportunity for aspiring artists. Whether it be a political, personal, local, environmental, or just showing U of A pride, local murals and art are popping up and displaying the creativity of fellow Tucsonans. Art in Tucson, and all over the world, sets a name for the city, brings the people together and defines a culture. “There’s such a hub of cultural exchange here, with Native Americans, Mexican Americans. There really is a lot going on in the arts" (Busler). Local and community art galleries have been around, and are on the rise; Murals, too, are creating business interest, and create an outlet for creativity. Art shows and auctions get more artists out into the world, as well as their inspirational pieces. This art scene is only going to grow, and opportunity along with it. Culture is the puzzle piece in this scene. “Cultural diversity is a social good and the wellspring of free expression. Cultural equity means full inclusion, participation, and power-sharing in all of our communities and institutions"
In consideration of the middle age, the general populace did not have the luxury of searching for new heights in the field of art. The greatest obstacle that the community faced were the outbreak of disease and war. This resulted in the complete and utter lack of “social mobility”, that is said to have exerted with success during the Renaissance era. Without social interaction, artists would not have had the chance to fully commit towards art. Therefore, it is not the simple fact that patrons had supplied artists with commissions and resources, but the fact that they had established an environment that cultivated and encouraged artists to bloom their potential.
While working as a designer, I developed own illustration style using pens and watercolours. Since these two materials are readily accessible and easy to learn, I believe this method would be useful and enough for the public to express their ideas and bring a sense of pride and accomplishment. Throughout my years of teaching high school students at the Smile Art Institute of South Korea, I successfully aided students in honing their artistic abilities through the use of various mediums including pastels and watercolours – students were taught to create 2D and 3D artworks with precision description. I would like to share these experiences with others, who may think art as “difficult”, or requiring “natural talent”, and become a positive influence in approaching artistic

They will see that art is an essential tool that contributes to the growth of society. The future of art will be nothing less than bright. I predict that art grow in all aspects of life. The walls made of cinder blocks are painted in a color that was once meant to be white, but now they are a grimy gray due to too many years of being neglected. Posters are decorations used as a last minute attempt to distract from the institutionalized feeling of being trapped in a room for an hour and a half. The posters dress in colors far too happy to be associated with school, each one with bubble letter fonts making empty promises about the joys of learning.

A typical way of relating social/political issues to art assumes that art represents “the thing” one way or another. But there can be a more interesting perspective, which is looking at the field of art as a place of work. Basically look at what it does not what it shows. Amid all other forms of art, fine art has been associated with post-Fordist ideology. Post-Fordism is a popular system of economically based on production, consumption and has been in most industrialized countries since the late 20th century. Contemporary art is not an out of this world discipline hidden away in some remote building. In fact, it’s the opposite because it positions itself in the thick of things. It can function as a brand name without a brand feeding off the bits and pieces of social and political issues. Presently, contemporary art has grown apart from important hubs, which gives the artist a wider range of production and provides various opportunities for showcasing the work. In contrast, this has not always been the case. Artist in novels about portraitures are depicted as servants due to the flow of cash. Art should be functioning on its own without the need of an institutional backing in order to create separation between the artist and their work as well as what the work can “do”.
