North Carolina Museum Analysis

As Edgar Degas once said, “ Art is not what you see, but what others make you see”. The St. Louis Art Museum is a place for artist to display their art and give spectators the option to see art from a new perspective. This was the case for me. As we walked up to the beautifully structured building that stood so tall and wide, my expectations were extremely high. At first glance I notice the bronze statue of King Louis IX of France riding high on his horse. From this statue alone, my expectations of the art museum grew stronger. I have never been to an art museum before, so I wasn’t sure of what to expect. My first expectation was to see huge detailed sculptures right as I walked through the door. That expectation didn’t come true.

The West Georgia Museum of Tallapoosa is a blast from the past for most of the older generation while the younger generations get to see how their grandparents or great grandparents got to live long before they were born. The overall theme of the museum is honoring and memorializing the old city of Tallapoosa. When exploring the little museum, there are displays of old stores and work offices such as a dentist office or a doctor’s office display from the 1800’s. These displays are interesting to look at because most of the stuff on display in each of these rooms are actual items from that time or very close to that era. The Mint Museum in Charlotte, NC is a timeless building and a work of art itself. The building was designed with a contemporary style and is an outward expression of its artistic, belongings inside. I visited the Museum on Tuesday, July 02, 2013, at around 2 in the afternoon. I was within the museum for about 2 ½ hours, observing the exhibits. The Hill-Stead Museum displayed the large art collection of Alfred Pope and his daughter, Theodate Pope. Alfred was the owner of the successful Cleveland Malleable Iron Company, which is where he earned his fortune. They manufactured a modernized, stronger, form of iron and then began producing railway couplings to hold train cars together. The business was extremely successful, as was the owner, Pope. The building is grand and decorated lavishly, filled with valuable art from across the world. In this way, the museum shows how people benefitted from the Second Industrial Revolution, and the lifestyle of those who had money during that period of time. The horizontal lines of the land represent calmness and te diagonal and vertical lines of the sea represents power and ever changing . There is a contrast with these two such as the sea is ever changing and the land that is hard slow to change. Next I looked at the shapes of the painting. With landscapes, such as this painting, there is organic shapes that show the chaos and never ending change of the ocean and storm that is pounding the land that is calm. I then looked at the contrast of the waves and land then the sky and storm. The waves are dark with the land being light with the opposite light above the dark waves and dark above the light land area. Recently a friend and I ventured into Bellevue Arts Museum, we were both slight annoyed with our inability to find a decent homecoming dress and with a number of people who were still wearing summer clothes as we are admirers of the reason of fall. When we walked in the only thing that was slightly visible to us was a giant stack of about 10 metal chairs. Gingerly we embarked into the elevator that seemed as though it could hold a car. When we finally reached the top floor, we were confused as to why the cords Cut Up/Cut Out were painted onto a plain white wall, as we walked around the floor I in one word was flabbergasted. I had never seen anything done with such precision and care, attention to detail, I could not begin to comprehend the

Late on Wednesday night, my phone ringed. It was a text message from my friend Pedro, “Do you want to visit an art museum tomorrow”. Knowing I needed to go, I texted him back quickly, “pick me up after your class tomorrow and we can adventure to The Weatherspoon Art Museum at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro”. After Pedro’s class, we explored the museum observing multiple art works, and I was invoked by three, art pieces. All three were different and intriguing in their own way. For instance, the painting that is on top of the cover page with all the wavy hair was painted by Catherine Murphy and is known as the “Frosted”. This painting was very delightful because of its unique elements. Second, the sculpture in the middle of the cover page is an image of a wooded animal. This sculpture was crafted by Deborah Butterfield and is recognized as Lunalilo. Also, at the bottom of the cover page is a sculpture constructed by Dan Graham, the sculpture was known as Triangle Solid with

The North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA) holds many works of art from all types of cultures from around the world. The Torso of an Emperor in the Guise of Jupiter from Roman culture and the Torso of Aphrodite from Greek culture, are but two of them. It is unknown who the artist was for either of them, but the work has lived on for centuries. During the time period the gods were known for their perfection- like body and extraordinary looks. Since the sculptures highlight only the torso of the body it represents that only image matters and the brain does not.

As you arrive into the reception area of the Cleveland Museum of Art, you are greeted with silence. The clomping of shoes and whispers of fellow museum goers about what the “true meaning” behind the piece is fills the air. The first floor of the museum is dedicated to historical artifacts and artwork dating in the time period called Before Common Era (B.C.E.). Each piece is accompanied by a placard on the wall courtesy of the museum. The pieces are approximately dated, described, and an explanation of how each piece was used is given in the short paragraph.

When I attend the Oklahoma Art Museum this morning, I was completely blown away by the different styles, technique, and artistic abilities that artist have. Art can come in many forms and can involve many different things. From paintings, sculptures, and abstract pieces of the modern world. Along with my visit, I got to experience a new collection of blown glass that was absolute remarkable. As I walked though the museum, it was as I walked though time and got to see how each period’s art changed throughout time. From the different shades of color to the different types of technique that filled the halls of the Oklahoma City Art Museum, each piece was genuine in its own way. I was starstruck as I witnessed Lowell Nesbitt’s Parrot Tulip, Richard Diebenkorn’s Albuquerque, and Dale Chihuly’s blown glass.

The presentation of many creations of art presented at Fresno art museum were amazing paintings done by many distinct amazing artists. Each of the paintings were well done to pursue people’s attention. Many authors used different techniques which were applied to their paintings, many of them innovating and contemporary; others display a story. Certain maintain at the perma transmit a category of feelings and thoughts as well. It is extremely surprising how thea variety of art creations such as the painting can be done for a single purpose. Each of the creations are immensely beautiful and interesting. Often certain people appreciate the great work that was put to make the paintings really popular. One of the painting that attained

America is portrayed to be diverse, beautiful, and most importantly the land of the free. The world is full of different colors, shapes, and sizes of people with different opinions, talents, and motives. When you think of the United States of America what is the first thing that comes to mind? The first thing that comes to my mind is selfish. People who are not from America have this image of America being so wonderful and you can come to America if you want to become free. This image is painted from the wonderful movies and actresses we have in America but we do have our flaws just like any other country. On March 20, 2017, I along with my classmates had the opportunity to visit the National Center for Civil and Human Rights museum in Atlanta. Georgia. This museum focuses on stories of advocates who fought for the human rights of human beings. They did a wonderful job of making each exhibit explanatory and unforgettable. The two exhibits that caught my eyes were the segregation exhibit and the lunch counter.

One pleasant afternoon, my classmates and I decided to visit the Houston Museum of Fine Arts to begin on our museum assignment in world literature class. According to Houston Museum of Fine Art’s staff, MFAH considers as one of the largest museums in the nation and it contains many variety forms of art with more than several thousand years of unique history. Also, I have never been in a museum in a very long time especially as big as MFAH, and my experience about the museum was unique and pleasant. Although I have observed many great types and forms of art in the museum, there were few that interested me the most.
