i) The role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Education
Education creates an immense opportunity for the development and at the same time information and communication technology also unlock new door to education (Wims and Lawler, 2007). Many definitions addressed and define the concept of ICT but Blurton (1999) elaborately defined ICT as the different set of technological resources and tools that are used to communicate, store, distribute and manage information. These types of technology include broadcast technology, computer, telephone and internet. ICTs comprise a network system that allows data processing, data storage and retrieval of data (Herselman & Britton, 2002).
Information technology cannot always support for all kinds of educational dilemma, still at the present time technologies are necessary tools for the development (Guri-Rosenblit, 20060). When Information and Communication Technology efficiently and effectively integrated into the learning and teaching systems that ensures two way communications between the learners and teachers (Jones & Cress, 2001; Punie et al., 2006). After that these kind of interaction helps to develop in advance cognitive skills. Moreover, information technology has facilitated the tools needed to expand the education in the inaccessible geographical area (Guttman, 2003). So, the diffusion and integration of information technology is very widespread especially among the young people (Punie et al., 2006). Many
Abstract: Nowadays, Digital world is constantly evolving. Nearly every aspect of human life is affected by ICT i.e. from working to socialising, learning to playing, sharing to conferencing, one cannot think without information technology. The technological ages has changed the ways through which people communicate, meet, seek help, search and access information and even learn and take exams also. Online population uses many devices like computers, TV and mobile phones to achieve their goals. This paper discusses how ICT effects today our learning and how the schooling has been changing day by day.

Education is among the sectors that have benefited the most from the advent of modern technology, and especially information and communication technology (ICT). Traditional education systems faced many challenges and huge limitations at delivery, in practice, and in application. Tools of education such as chalk, blackboard, books, classrooms, laboratory items, and so on, were mostly manual and cumbersome. Even the structure of the traditional literature content, and pedagogy was a challenge to both the teacher and the learner.
The present era has progressed not only in terms of education but also in the department of information technology. People usually resort into using technology for a faster way of communication, to progress in work and in education. Some colleges and universities have implemented the different kinds of technology for purposes of developing a student’s skills and abilities. “Technology is seen in several forms from the simple functions of a calculator used in mathematics to the most complicated computers and technological gadgets” (Flannagan L.J., pg. 07). However, alongside the positive advantages of technology and advanced computer system, there is also a negative side or disadvantages causing problems that need to be solved. While the “ideal goal for educators is to implement technology in the classroom and see definite positive affects on student achievement” (Flannagan L.J., pg. 09). We are living in a world filled with high tech gadgets in the current time like ipads, social media such as twitter, facebook, tumbr and google.
However, the education sector, particularly the area of teacher education, has lagged behind other sectors of the Indian economy in benefiting from the fruits of technological development. Today’s education system faces the challenge to prepare individuals for the information society in which one of the most important aims is to handle information. No amount of technological up- gradation of educational institution will change the performance of our students without the active involvement and support of teachers who are capable of exploiting the profound possibilities the ICT can offer for the teaching- learning process.
According to Martin and Ofori-Attah (2005), technology is an area of the curriculum, as well as a tool for teaching and learning, in which teachers must demonstrate their own awareness and capacity for learning. In other words, for effective and meaningful teaching in the present information age, the demonstration of teachers’ awareness and competencies for instructional use of information and communication technology (ICT) cannot be underscored. If teachers are aware of the use of ICT in teaching, students/pupils are likely to benefit from their knowledge. The

Computers never had a common place inside the classroom, imaging what students thought about using word processor versus electronic typewriter word processor or even using the Archaic Manual Typewriter. In today’s world students are considered digital natives. Computers can open pathways that stimulate learning and help develop high order of thinking skills, when technology is applied in a meaningful manner. The proliferation and success of web based curriculum at all levels of education is just the latest examples of the importance of technology to both students and teachers. This research paper will explain why computers are important in the education sector today, the impact that Computer Technology has on the education sector, how computer teaching plays a role in education system, how technology has changed from decades ago until now and the advantages and disadvantages of Computer/ Technology in the education sector.
Once there was famine for information but today’s generation is drowned in the deluge of information. The ICT (Information and Communication Technology) has been used in all fields of life, including education. In Indian education, the computer technology has become so significant that the government has incorporated the ICT in the curriculum. The use of the ICT in English Language Teaching has of late started to stress the potential and significant progress in language learning. It has become one of the major issues in the world of education and has been in use from preschool to the tertiary level which could facilitate students and teachers during the process of teaching and learning. The ICT has been gaining vitality as it is an enabling tool for educational revival as well. As indicated above, the importance of the ICT as a teaching aid, especially in imparting the nuances of teaching and learning English is being dealt with in detail in this paper.
ICT have made teaching-learning process more relevant for the learner and connected to real life. The education system is the main source of human resource development. Its focus is on the acquisition of knowledge, self-learning, generic and transferable skills in communication, entrepreneurship, management and technology that are the characteristics of the learning society of today. Teachers play a crucial role in the adoption and implementation of ICT in education; however, studies show that teachers lack the necessary ICT knowledge and skills. Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are generally accepted as a modern instrumental tool which enables the educators to modify the teaching methods they use in order to increase the students interest and it is a new medium, a new way of representing, communicating and working with information. In India, there is serious need for increasing the learning abilities of the students with the help of ICT.
The power of technology provides different approaches to learning and enables lifelong learning in students. Many students have access to internet information and other resources on a daily basis. This enables them to share information and ideas with people from all over the world. It promotes collaboration and allows students to learn new things.
Technology has been around since the beginning of modern man and it has continued to evolve and transform with time. When once simple hand tools to complete simple tasks were considered technological advances; today technology is viewed a little differently, but the presence remains the same. Technology, beginning near the end of the 20th century and on into today has grown exponentially, and so have the uses and roles, it plays in our daily lives. With this ever-increasing role technology plays in the day-to-day lives of man also comes the increasing role of technology in the workforce, as well as in education. While some educators are open to the notion of implementing technology into the classroom, seeing it enhance student engagement and student learning, other educators see the increasing push for technology into the classroom as a negative outcome. This debate may never be solved completely, but perhaps those resistant to the idea, fearing the technology will, in fact, replace them, are merely just uninformed about how to go about using technology in their classroom, and how it is meant to be an aid in the education of students, not a replacement.
I am currently registered with the Queensland College of Teachers, and have been since I graduated my Bachelor of Education in 2011. Since then, I have taught in both my subject areas, English and Computing, and completed a Master's degree to further my knowledge in Information and Communication Technologies, an area I am very passionate about. Throughout my university studies, I have shown keen interest for technology in education (especially appropriating non-education technology for education purposes and 1:1 learning). I have a strong belief that technology can benefit education, given that it is carefully chosen to suit the context; one size does not fit all, one app does not fit all. In the past year at Saint Stephen's College, I have demonstrated that I am capable of teaching in a technical area (Technology) and it is a teaching area I quite enjoy.
Technology has greatly revolutionized the healthcare industry. It has streamlined patient care and opened networks to make information more attainable and concise which has allowed for the improvement of patient care and drastically eliminating the chance for error. One of the most influential ways technology has been changing the industry has been in education. More and more schools in charge of molding the next leaders of the healthcare industry are using technologically advanced tools to train the students in procedure and patient care. Simulations are becoming one of those widely utilized tools in the education of healthcare professionals. They provide a safer learning environment where students can explore a variety of scenarios and how to tackle them, and can improve patient care and aid professionals in making better more educated decisions.
Several studies admit the ICT is essential for providing opportunities for students to learn and to operate in an
