The use of ICT technology in teaching instruction is expanding rapidly in the twenty-first century. Studies about the importance of technology in teaching and learning are also appearing in a growing numbers. Previous research indicates that technologies, particularly computer could “facilitate communication, reduce anxiety, encourage oral discussion, develop the writing/thinking connection, nurture social or cooperative learning, promote egalitarian class structures, enhance student motivation, facilitate cross-cultural awareness, and improve writing skills” Ynag & Chen (2007,p.2) . In light of these positive effects, an increasing number of scholars have examined the importance of ICT in teaching and learning.
Several studies admit the ICT is essential for providing opportunities for students to learn and to operate in an

However, the objective needs to be specific and achievable. For Plomp (1996) “ICT has three objectives in education: ICT as an object of study, discipline organization and medium of teaching and learning” (p.4 as cited in Tedla) that’s why, ICT is an important for students to develop cognitive skills in their daily educational activities, professionals to organize disciplines, and as a medium to promote conducive learning atmosphere among teachers and students. Similarly to this, Drent (2005 as cited in Tedla) says that the effective use of ICT could increase student-centre learning .Hence, ICT become an necessity for the teachers, for the help that can afford to students in solving problems, and decision making .all This implies the fact that ICT is important for fast and easy learning in process, store and disseminate information, and as a result students develop cognitive skills and behaviors to solve
Having the ICT technology in schools it encourages the pupils to access a wide range of information and communication opportunities and enables pupils to store and retrieve, draft and redraft, test and analyse. This develops there learning skills that are required for the National Curriculum. These skills include: Communication skills, problem-solving, investigating, evaluating and analysing and critical
Information communication technology (ICT) helps to learn theoretic development discoveries, treatment and support techniques for education and curriculum. It gives teachers, higher level teaching assistant (HLTA) and children access to educational resources from around the globe anytime and day. While using ICT, children learn concepts, history, ideas, theories and practices across culture when it is use in their classroom. HLTA and teachers however have to know how and why they are using ICT and incorporate the concepts in: social responsibility, creativity, communication, culture sensitivity, decision making technology application and usage. According to Andrews et al. (2006, p.5) “ICT has been defined as including stand-alone computers, networked technologies with a multimodal interface, mobile phones with the capacity for a range of types of communication, and other technologies that allow multimodal and interactive communication.”
learners will find it very difficult to succeed in education, work and life without a solid grounding in basic level of English, maths and ICT skills. The ability to communicate easily with others, read and even understand information, maths is in everyday of our life to solve problems and use a range of current information. ICT is very important in any educational course or job that the learner might want to into. For example in a hair and beauty salon we use chemicals and product to do a clients hair we have to make sure that everything measure properly as it could result in uneven colour or over use of
Access to many fun and interactive tools motivates and students to engage in academic related activities (“Use of Technology…”). When classes are computer based, students like them more and have a positive attitude towards learning (“The Impact of…”). Furthermore, Computer based education lets students learn more in less time (“The Impact of…”). Defining goals, making decisions, and and actively thinking are all positive outcomes of technology use (“Effects of
In the last decade, increasingly powerful technologies have begun to make their way into classrooms across the nation. Many classrooms are now equipped with personal computers that run educational software to help teach students facts and concepts in a more engaging way than a traditional lecture. Advances in telecommunications technologies have led to almost universal access to the Internet, allowing students and teachers to communicate with people from around the world and gain access to a wealth of educational materials. New ways of obtaining and presenting information have given students powerful new methods for understanding the world around them. However, while use of
Technology in the classroom is important for teachers, parents, and students alike, because technology use has become a necessary skill for survival in today’s vastly expanding technology driven global economy. Research has shown an increase in student’s success rates when exposed to technology in the classroom. Also technology has opened lines of communication between educators and parents to keep students on track, and help teachers educate better.
Do you think that technology has a good or bad effect on learning today? The authors Clive Thompson, David Gelernter, Emily Yoffe, Nicholas A. Christakis, and James H. Fowler; all have different views on how technology 's effects on today’s generation. Clive Thompson thinks technology helps students a lot in this day and age. David Gelernter thinks Computers cannot teach and should not be used for teaching roles. Emily Yoffe Thinks that technology has a major effect on our mind, and school. Nicholas A. Christakis, and James H. Fowler think that technology is helping today 's student’s talk with more people around the world, and learn from others. This synthesis paper will talk about the effects of technology on writing. First is the effort of technology on our mind. Secondly is the positives about technology in writing. Third and final body paragraph is about the negative technology gives to our writing ability.
This article attempts to enlighten educators to allow computers in the classroom as a workshop to help improve literacy. The computer allows for students to have both a visual and a verbal reference to a topic, thus, solidifying a concrete comprehension of the text, allowing the student to be further engaged and stimulated with the assignment. Over the years, educators have seen such a vast change in technology, especially in the classroom. It is time now, that educators embrace the change and use it to their advantage. “If students can be motivated and engaged when using technology, teachers should continue to support this type of learning when appropriate.”
It is crucial that students are not just being educated in only one way. Each child is different; as a result, learning styles should be versatile and open to new strategies. By learning to use technology correctly, teachers are preparing themselves, and the students for the future by developing certain skills that will be essential in the 21st century. Besides developing the students’ technology skills, students will
The education system around the world has progressed and changed in a plentiful amount of ways, and the concept of knowledge and learning has changed in modern day. For example, certain schools around the globe are moving on to implementing technology in classrooms because it provides many benefits and statistical research that states how students are improving their academic readiness because of the instant access to information, a greater engagement and interactive process in learning, and the personalization that instructors can do towards the educational experience that students receive. The benefits of technology in class can be rather debatable, for there are people who think it's a distraction, but it certainly seems to be beneficial according to the increase of passing percentages in schools.
Information and communication technology (ICT) is modern conception in the field of education. It makes easy to understand new concepts, knowledge, skill related to daily life circumstances. Education system has been affected by technology (Adu & Olatundun, 2013). New technologies challenge the traditional conceptions and ensure new concepts in teaching learning process. So use of ICT in learning has typical role for students’ motivation and learning. Developed country has good practice in the field of
John Dewey, a leader for the progressive movement in education in the United States once said, “If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow.”
Once there was famine for information but today’s generation is drowned in the deluge of information. The ICT (Information and Communication Technology) has been used in all fields of life, including education. In Indian education, the computer technology has become so significant that the government has incorporated the ICT in the curriculum. The use of the ICT in English Language Teaching has of late started to stress the potential and significant progress in language learning. It has become one of the major issues in the world of education and has been in use from preschool to the tertiary level which could facilitate students and teachers during the process of teaching and learning. The ICT has been gaining vitality as it is an enabling tool for educational revival as well. As indicated above, the importance of the ICT as a teaching aid, especially in imparting the nuances of teaching and learning English is being dealt with in detail in this paper.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) plays a crucial role in the teaching-learning process of the modern society. This ICT based learning is Digital Learning. This learning process is democratic in nature. Anyone can access from anywhere and anytime. This digital learning facilitates and interactive and collaborative independent platform, where all the learners can use the discussion forum, chat room and social media to make the learning environment more easy as well as democratic in nature. This present paper discusses the role of ICT in teaching-learning process, the concepts of democratic leaning environment and how the digital learning make the learning process democratic in collaborative way.
Technology can help students in all areas of study. Students need to be able to use this technology since, “Currently and in the near future, it is understood that students need to acquire more autonomous skills of ‘information gathering, analysis, and display’” (Todnem, 2004, p. 1). Furthermore, the use of technology, mainly the internet, provides for variation since “Students find themselves bored and burnt-out of the lecture format to classes, so changing the curriculum and instruction to include things like online assignments and educational videogames can be one clear remedy” (Todnem, 2004, p. 1). Teachers who have implemented technology into their classrooms have noticed changes in their students. The most common of these effects being an increase in motivation. In “Effects of Technology on Classrooms and Students” another positive effect is given “technology effect stressed by many teachers was enhancement of student self esteem” (“Effects,” 2004, p. 2).
