World Culture Research Project ‘The Celtics’ Many people believed the Celtics were all evil and worshiped the devil, but that is not true. They were simple people who practised either a animistic or polytheistic religion. Sacrifice of both animals and humans was a big part of their society however, it is not all they were. Women in the Celtic society were not like woman in most other early societies, they were allowed to own land, have power and even get divorced. Headhunting is probably the thing they are most known, for they believe the greatest prize of battle was the enemy’s head. Now, that we have established a basic understanding of who the Celtic people were, let's look at; the daily life, political structure, and the creation myth. …show more content…
In the beginning there was no time or gods, only land and sea. Where the sea meet the land a white mare burst forth from the sea foam, her name was Eiocha. Eiocha soon found some sea-foam seeds and ate them, soon they grew into a child in her, she gave birth to the god named Cernunnos. While she was giving birth her pain was so great that she ripped off a piece of bark that she catapulted into the sea, as it fell to the watery deeps of the sea it grew to deep-sea giants. As for poor lonely Cernunnos he felt that he was outnumbered for the great number of sea giants, he along with his horse-mother they created more gods, their names were Maponos, the God of Youth, Tauranis, the God of Thunder, Teutates, the Protector, and the fertility goddess, Epona. After Eiocha’s children grew into adults she became sad and depressed, while she longed for the sea she finally returned to her life as a sea-mare, and became known as Tethra, goddess of the deep. Soon the gods and goddesses created a paradise like land, while the deep-sea giants looked upon the gods with hatred they declared war upon the gods. After a great war and successfully making the giants return to the sea, the gods turned to the place they once called paradise. It was in ruin, as well as almost all humans were killed, all except for two that Epona had saved and they were charged with recreating the human
The Los Angeles Lakers Overview “Who wouldn't want to own the Lakers?” -Jeanie Buss. The Los Angeles Lakers are a professional sports team of the National Basketball Association. Located in Los Angeles, California, they are considered to be one of the most successful franchises in the NBA’s history.
Thus far, over his short NBA career, Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Zach LaVine has been known for one thing: his high-flying dunks. Ever since his days at UCLA, that is all people could talk about was his athleticism and high-flying acrobatics. However, its only for so long you can hold that moniker until people wonder is that all you can do?
When you think of the current NBA, chances are you may have thought of the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors have been a dominant team in the last couple of years. It is a great franchise. They have a great history as a team, great players, and very great success.
When someone asks you who the greatest basketball team is in history, there is only one answer. There is no thinking required, no Googling the answer, you instantly know and you don’t have to be a sports fanatic. It was led by arguably the greatest player in the sports history and also by one of the greatest coaches. The 1990’s Chicago Bulls are the best NBA team on record and I will proceed to explain why this is and what it took to get there.
The Golden State Warriors' recent NBA title will prove to be a turning point in basketball's evolution. While the game has been steadily drifting away from the Goliath vs. Goliath monotony of center-oriented post play, league-MVP Stephen Curry & Co. shattered several prevailing NBA myths when they finished off Lebron James' Cleveland Cavaliers 105-97 in Game 6.
When informed about this assignment, I immediately knew that I wanted to do an organization that was closely linked with basketball. In result, I choose to do the organization of the Boston Celtics. The Celtics are a prestigious organization that has been one of the greatest organizations of the NBA (National Basketball Association). After furthering my career in basketball, I would enjoy working for a sports team as a marketer or at a division one school as an athletic director.
The NBA season is well under way and there is one team who is surprising everyone within the fantasy basketball world. The Detroit Pistons’ players have got off to an extravagant start and are quickly becoming more relevant each game that they play in. Pistons star center Andre Drummond is off to a record start and newcomer Marcus Morris may just be what us fantasy fans were looking for in a great waiver wire pickup. I knew a few of the Pistons players could be great additions to my fantasy roster, but I never believed that there would be a core four group of players who would rock our world!
The Boston Celtics’ Dynasty started in the 1956-1957 season when they won their first title for the franchise. The dynasty lasted until 1969 when they won their last championship in the 60’s. People call it the end of the dynasty because it’s when the biggest part of the team, both literally and figuratively, Bill Russell, retired. Russell was crowned the MVP of the NBA 5 times and winning the Finals 11 times in his 13 year career. He was elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1975. He was a 12-time NBA All Star, and a 1956 Olympic Gold Medalist. Bill Russell was drafted to the St. Louis Hawks in 1956, but it wasn’t until 1957, when the Celtics had just received Bill Russell in a trade where the Hawks received Ed Macauley and Cliff
In the era of hot takes, comment sections and social media outbursts being used as methods to gain attention, I can say from the bottom of my heart that none of those are the reasons I present my against the grain opinion of the Golden State Warriors. If I’m about to come off as a bitter Cleveland Cavaliers fan (I am), then so be it.
Have you ever been known to be a “die-hard fan?” Have you ever loved a team so much, that you decorated your room with the team’s logo everywhere, or bought your favorite players jersey for that team? I have, and that team to me was the Los Angeles Lakers. I remember watching some of the most successful seasons the Lakers ever had, either when they were winning championships or breaking NBA records. Slowly I began to see good players leave Los Angeles and their record start to get worse and worse every year. Something needs to get done for the Lakers so they can become a successful team like they once were, and I know exactly how to do it.
The Boston Celtics is in the trade market once more. And it looks like they are targeting to acquire the services of Pelicans power forward/center Anthony Davis.
Time is beginning to run out on the New York Knicks playoff hopes after dropping another close game in Philadelphia.
The Lakers were named after Minnesota because it was the land of ten thousand lakes. They were founded in 1948 in Minnesota and a year later the NBA was formed. The La Lakers are an American basketball team that represents Los Angeles. The Lakers wear purple, white, and gold and play in the Staples Stadium in the heart of LA.The Lakers are well known for their great players, teamwork, and for their sportsmanship. They have won 16 championship and been to the finals a total 31 times. They hold the record for the most appearance in the finals. Boston Celtics are second with only 21 appearances. The next closest record is 9 by the Philadelphia 76ers.
You are sitting at home watching a tense basketball game on television. Thousands of people are screaming at the top of their lungs as a player from your home team dribbles up the court. There are only four seconds left, and the home team is down by two. The guard dishes to the center, breaking across the middle. He takes the pass, spins once, and puts up a shot. A defender appears to be draped all over him as the ball hangs in the air forever. The horn sounds, drowning out the referee's whistle. Everyone rises to their feet, their eyes following the trajectory of the spinning ball. A deafening roar explodes as the ball settles into the net. Yes! You instantly see the official has blown his whistle, and you know the player will have a chance
At the dawn there were the five gods; Akais, Menem, Kenek, Rener, and Baenro. The five were the first of their kind, having descended from the void to see the world below them. At first all was black, yet when the sun arose to its precipice the five gods saw the barrenness of Eleur. Akais, being the first among them, descended further onto the rocks and from his touch all water jetted forth, covering Eleur with deep seas, rolling rivers, and great lakes. Next came the triplet gods; Menem, Kenek, and Rener. At their touch all that was green and colorful sprung forth, overcoming the rocks and dirt and making Eleur flourish with beautiful flowers, trees, and meadows. Finally the little god, Baenro, descended and upon his touch nothing occurred.
