The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ article on software developers provides an overview of everything that comes along with being a software developer. This source provides accurate statistics on the salary, job outlook, and many other important things for software developers. These statistics are based on research conducted by the government, which ensures that every software developer in the United States is represented. This is an important source and is a must-read for anyone who is interested in becoming a software developer. It is very well organized, however, it is terribly boring to read through. This source is a great place to start if you know nothing about software developers.

The three stages used in the study were new-hire, Middle management, and upper management. The people who took part in the survey were asked to choose the top 3 skills needed for each career level, and from this, a list of desired skills was created. This article provides a straightforward overview of the skills needed to progress through the hierarchy of an IT organization, making it an important read if you want to know what skills a person must master to climb the ranks in the IT field. The only drawback in this article is the lack of information on specific areas of IT, but most of the information applies to any IT career. If I could cite this source throughout my entire paper, i would.
Ozer, Muammer and Doug Vogel. "Contextualized Relationship between Knowledge Sharing and Performance in Software Development." Journal of Management Information Systems, vol. 32, no. 2, Oct. 1, 2015, pp. 134-161. EBSCOhost, doi:10.1080/07421222.2015.1063287.
In Ozer and Vogel’s study, they test their hypothesis which states that knowledge sharing within the workplace has a positive impact on the job performance of the software developers that receive this knowledge. Additionally, Ozer and Vogel provide other factors that increase and decrease the effectiveness of knowledge sharing. The authors also explain a great deal of terminology that is used in many related studies. As I read this journal, I often found myself saying, “Duh;” obviously receiving additional
The 3 careers are a Pediatrician, Software Engineer, and IT Project Manager. I will be evaluating the 3 careers with an evaluation matrix and 5 criteria. An evaluation matrix is used to determine various alternatives compared to emphasized criteria.
Anything a mother consumes will affect her baby’s health, either positively or negatively. After the sperm enters into the egg, instantly, the baby begins to grow inside of the placenta, which is inside of the mothers’ uterus. “The placenta has been described as a pancake-shaped organ that attaches to the inside of the uterus and is connected to the fetus by the umbilical cord.” As the placenta produces the hormones for the baby, it also supplies the blood to the fetus from the mother. The most important element that allows the fetus to grow is the umbilical cord. The umbilical cord is composed of three blood vessels that attach to the placenta and the fetus. All of these components help the baby’s growth, but the amniotic sac, which is composed of amniotic fluid, helps protect the fetus. The amniotic fluid helps the baby maintain a regular body temperature that
The root causes of Krebs’ alienation is present in the story when he returns home with no excitement, no parties, no talks of war or even a warm welcome. The lack of attention for his sacrifice creates a liar out of Krebs, and even though he hates it, he cannot prevent himself from lying due to the positive reinforcement he received amongst his peers from his lies. Why should he tell the truth? No one he closely associated with was there with him in Germany. He simply could not come home with a boring story for his family.
Inside any successful organization, there will be strong training and career development programs and systems. To recognize strong training and career development programs, one should know the: definition, methods, successes, HRM involvement, and their own wants and needs. To clarify understanding of these, the following will be described in detail: training and development by definition and how they fit into most organizations; the various methods used to train and promote career development; the direct correlation to organizational growth and success from training and development; the
IT (Information Technology) management entails all the routine issues faced by any type of business manager in addition to the issues of software development, technology purchasing (not necessarily physical items), systems integration, the limits of technology and the related budgetary issues. General information literacy is important for any level of IT manager, as he or she needs to communicate successfully using many different modes, media, and technology with all types of IT workers, upper management, and technology product vendors. IT management also entails leadership of projects or departments. Information
In my career research report, I am going to be trying to accomplish some of my goals. I feel like it’s time to start planning for my future and what I want to do with it, so a main goal is to find a suitable career for me. I have already seen some amazing career opportunities for me to think about. Though I really hope I can get at least an A on my research paper and make sure I enjoy the whole process of doing this project.
“But whether small or great, and no matter what the stage or grade of life, the call rings up the curtain, always, on a mystery of transfiguration—a rite, or moment, of spiritual passage, which, when complete, amounts to a dying and a birth” ( Campbell 42). When I was young, I had a lot of dream careers or jobs. Every time I watch a movie I always get inspired on doing whatever the career of the main character is. For example, after I watch a war or an action movie like the Lone Survivor or a James Bond movie, I immediately want to aspire on becoming a military soldier or a spy. It takes time and maturity to fully realize what I wanted to become. But since the beginning I know for sure that becoming a writer or any career that relates to writing is not my call to adventure. I hate writing a lot because I sucked on it. I just
Introduction- For my research paper I hope to see some amazing opportunities for me that way I can start looking at the perfect college for me to go to and maybe start saving up for it. I hope to accomplish these goals in life so that way I could be successful in life and hopefully be a big influence on some people.
At age five I didn’t really have any job or wasn’t force to do anything around the house, but I do remember that I always wanted to help and wanted to be in everything. I also remember that when my sisters were lazy they would bribe me for a dollar to take them water, give them a massage, or even pick up after them. Then, at around six or seven my sisters and brother started bribing me with two dollars because I did not want a dollar anymore. After I got a bit older my sisters would start sending me to go buy them junk or nail things, at the ninety-nine cent store at the end of my block in that time. My brother would pay me to pick up his room because he was going to have friends over. In that time two dollars was a lot
I want to be a nurse practitioner when I grow up. A nurse practitioner ,or commonly known as NP, can treat and diagnose illnesses and can also conduct lab tests.(“Welcome to Top Master’s In Healthcare Administration”)
In order to find out the how the managers become more efficient, many researcher devoted themselves to develop theories on what exactly skills or abilities does managers need. In 1955, Robert L. Katz developed three essential managerial skills or competencies: technical, human and conceptual. He also believed that different levels of managers need different skills within the organization. More specially, Katz thought that top managers need conceptual skills, middle managers need human skills and first line managers need technical skills. This essay will argue that first line manager not only need technical skills, but also need human skills(interpersonal skills), and will compare different views from researchers who support Katz’s ideas.
Software engineering (SE) is the profession concerned with specifying, designing, developing and maintaining software applications by applying technologies and practices from computer science, project management, and other fields.
Therefore, IT managers need effective management systems and processes to help them deal with the issues and challenges inherent in their responsibilities. Feeny and Willcocks (1998) suggested that core IS competencies are needed to assist the development of IT, measurable in terms of IT activities supported, and resulting business performance. Figure 1 shows the 9 core IS competencies. The research carried out indicated that in order to have a successful IT function there are four major tasks which need to be accomplished. These include: co-ordination and leadership; ensuring technical capability; managing the external supply; and meeting the business’s requirements.
The value of software in meeting the expected objectives depends on how it is designed. A good software design in an enterprise should be based on quality. Designing and implementing the software system with the potential customers in mind is one way of ensuring quality in this case. The Robust software Development Model (RSDM) can be used for the purpose of defining trustworthy software as repetitive stages in the development process. The Robust development Model works by recognizing the infrastructure, the financial position, the customer needs as well as the leadership system of support of an enterprise that are deemed fruitful for the implementation of Design for Trustworthy
One of the skills that a Software Engineer needs is to have good communication. If a Software Engineer does not have good communication skills, how are they supposed to communicate with your boss, or talk to other engineers about a large project that is due (Career Focus 2)? Another skill Software Engineers need to have experience in programming, without this skill, Software Engineering is basically useless. Having experience in programming is a skill that Software Engineers need to know because this is the skill that will help an engineer build programs (Career Focus 2). Software Engineers need to be product oriented people, being product oriented is important because without this skill engineers won’t get anything done, they will be focused on other things when they need to be focused on their task is (Career Focus 2). Software Engineers need to have knowledge of different programming languages, different languages do different things and if an engineer only knows one of many different languages then they will be limited on the work that they are assigned (CUnet 2). The most important skill a Software Engineer needs to have is to keep up with changing technology; if a software engineer can not keep up with the rapidly changing technology they are going to be limited on what they can do (Career
