In sonography you have a wide range of jobs and deal with hands on technology. I also chose this field because it is a 2 year program so I can learn fast and start working. It also has a nice salary and can allow you to live almost anywhere. I also love that I don’t just have to be behind a desk and there is no lack of growth in this career. Sonography is a better and easier way to figure out what is wrong with a patient so this help patients visit to the hospital more easier and effective, making their lives better in a way that I am apart of. Radiology technicians play an important role in society and have the ability to make a positive impact on people’s lives. They have the ability to make a difference in a patient’s live by employing their communication and patient care skills. Working as a radiology technician would allow me to fulfill my passion for helping others and making an impact while working in a career that I know I would love. I have been fortunate enough to work alongside many radiology technicians for over 4 years and have come to realize the vital role they play in Healthcare. The fast-paced work environment and major responsibility is something that I am intrigued by. I find radiologic imaging such a fascinating technology and am extremely passionate to make a career out of it.
Therefore, a career path that interest me is in Medical field but there’s so many too choose. My main goal is to go into Medical Coding then work my way up to work in a Sterile Hospital Compounding. In which, I can work both jobs at the same time when there is a short number of worker at the time. The career I am curious about is in the medical field, generally speaking, nursing. I have chosen to become a registered nurse because of its background, and how its characteristics require the use of creativity, problem-solving, social skills, and critical thinking. Registered nurses use various skills to diagnose and apply certain care methods to specific patients. I know that nurses aid patients with various illnesses, diseases, disabilities, and injuries. I love helping people and the feeling I receive when helping people. It would also be very motivating to learn and discover things about the human body and how to fix any problems involving it.
I currently attend Baton Rouge General School of Radiologic Technology to pursue an Associates degree through Northwestern State University. I chose this profession because I always want to help others. I want to play a part in the healing process of patients. Being able to help people determine things going on inside their body interest me and that is why I chose Radiology. The true definition of a Radiologic Technologist is the “medical personnel who perform diagnostic imaging examinations and administer radiation therapy treatments. They are educated in anatomy, patient positioning, examination techniques, equipment protocols, radiation safety, radiation protection and basic patient care”. This definition makes this job seem easy but it is not an easy job at all. We do so much pushing, pulling, and lifting of patients it is physically exhausting. I have been searching for a career that will integrate with my degree in biology. I do not want to be in a situation where I would be constantly working at a desk. What excites me the most in medical technology, is being able to apply my knowledge to more advanced methodologies and instrumentation. During my time working in organic chemistry research, I worked with a few elementary instruments such as rotary evaporators, columns and vacuum distillation glassware.
