Mercyhurst University’s Public Health Program is the main step toward helping me achieve my career goal of becoming a Registered Health Information Technician. I’d like to define success as many achievements and accomplishments, as well as the coming of knowledge for that which was unknown to one’s self. Therefore, there should never be an ending to a success story. It was when I graduated as a medical assistant that sparked the realization to what field I was most interested in.

I have always known since I was a little girl that I wanted to be something in the medical field. There was never a doubt about that. It took a lot of thinking to figure out what exactly it was that I wanted to be just because I didn’t want to go to school for too long; because as I have mentioned before I am not a fan of school at all. This is perfect for me because it won’t take me forever to accomplish and I will be able to travel like I’ve always wanted to do. My passion for medicine is something deeper than a mere interest in learning the extraordinary functions of the human body. I am completely fascinated to learn gross anatomy, histology, pathology, and the complete medical school curriculum. However, I am more captivated by how the knowledge I will gain in medical school will allow me to perform the lifesaving procedures that physicians are able execute. Although, medicine is not always ideally as I have written, I believe that as a physician I would use my knowledge and my experiences to provide the best holistic care to my patients. My culture, my experiences, and my education will bring a different perspective to the medical field. I aspire to have the ability and knowledge to save a child that might not live, to save a woman that suffers a heart stroke, and to even provide the necessary treatment for a child with a mere cold. Additionally, participating in the Loma Linda Gateway to the Health
I have chosen to study Radiography as I am very passionate about Science. Although this was never my strongest subject I always enjoyed studying the 3 science subjects and I soon developed an interest in radiography. I always worked hard to understand the fundamentals of science. I have developed an interest as I have seen people with many illnesses which had led me to want to pursue a career in radiography. My passion for patient care has strongly come from seeing people suffering from different health problems. Although it is a challenging profession I am willing to put in 100% to ensure I succeed in gaining a career. This career is a very rewarding career and I believe with my communication skills I will be able to provide support for patients and families. My interest in technology and disease has led me to an interest in this career.
Deciding to be a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer was not an easy or fast decision. Like everything else in life, my decision was gradual and time-consuming. However, being involved in the medical field was always something that I longed to do. Most other kids want to be a firefighter, police man, or President of the United States. For me I always knew that my heart belonged in the hospital.
For my dedication to the program, I was awarded RA of the Year. I intend to continue contributing to and learning
As a young child, I was always drawn towards the field of health care. I remember reading about the many options that are held within it and wondering what path it would lead me on. Neonatal nursing was something that always came into my mind, but it was often pushed to the side by people and teachers who thought I should become a pediatrician instead. This became a real struggle for me, but as I grew up and began researching and exploring the health care field I came to a decision for myself. I came to the realization that everyone was wrong. I didn’t want to be a doctor at all. This sudden burst of independence from what everyone else wanted was the first step to reaching my end goal. Along with this, an accelerated education, volunteer
I’m very close to my family members, and having to miss something important makes it hard for me to choose a career that may cause that to happen. However, that passion Dr, Malone showed created a spark of interest. She showed the pleasure she had on the career she is in. She didn’t have complaints or any negative thoughts. Just like her, I want to become a woman who is passionate to talk about her career and be happy with the decision I had made. In my thoughts I can see myself working in the department of gynecology, it not only sounds interesting but a fun career to do. My passion is to help people, a bonus is if I get to know them for a long period of time. Gynecology is a way for me to interact with many patients and see them grow as I begin to take care of them. “Medical School is hard, you have to be driven”, she said this during her presentation. It both created a disinterest and also peaked my interest. Something that I may be undecided for may create a difficult time for me to become a gynecologist or any other type of physician. However, it also peaked my interest because I am the kind of person to see how far I can go with the passion and knowledge I have, I would like to see if I am capable of carrying the hardships of school work and the financial issues. Lastly, the quote “If it is your calling, you'll get tired with it, not tired of it”, she left me speechless thing twice of any career I actually want to continue on, both gynecology or any other
Completing Technical Challenge Projects (TCP's) have taught me about the diverse array of careers available in the health sector, each allowing me to help and treat patients in their own right. Yet, only one of the three hundred and sixty careers I have researched fully encompasses my biological and anatomical interests. It is this that has directed me towards a career in medicine.
On many occasions my personal goals have come before my professional aspirations. A career in the medical field has always been something I have looked forward to. As a child I wanted and dreamed of being a doctor, however due to the choices I made in life and the priorities that I had not thought of, I have come to realize that my childhood dream may not come true. Yet, I was able to compromise and make short and long term goals that will lead me into a career in the medical field. My long term goal is to enter the medical field world and be a respected contributor to it. I want to be able to help others in the time of need. In
I have taken stock of myself, considering my skills, experiences, and goals. I have looked to family and friends, some of whom are doctors, for advice. Because of this self-examination, I have decided to pursue a career in health care. The process has been difficult at times but always illuminating. Throughout it all, I have never lost confidence - the confidence that I will actively absorb all available medical knowledge, forge friendships with fellow students, and emerge from my training as a skilful and caring physician.
