In the 2015-2016 school year, I taught one section of a 6th grade gifted course. I was new to the curriculum, the course, and the activities that we were doing. Prior to the start of that year, there was a couple of 60 in 60 sessions which were designed to expose us to a number of different new technologies. Being interested in technology, I picked up a couple of ideas, like Sway, Edpuzzle, and Nearpod and tried to incorporate them into the new lessons I was trying to teach. However, by being a novice to the course, there was no continuity to the technology in the activities that we completed. Throughout the course, I taught the 8 steps to the research process as students worked to complete a more focused, centered approach to …show more content…
This website is organized by each of the 8 steps and then depending on the activities and the amount of time we are spending on each step I’ve included subpages. As I said on the first page of the website, I want this to be a resource for students to use during and even after we’ve learned a certain skill. I also have enjoyed using Weebly as it is giving me a better understanding of the tool as I encourage my 8th grade classes to use Weebly to make their websites. This way, I am able to show my 6th graders the website platform and excite them to let them know what they could do themselves as they will be creating their own website like the one they are using in this class.
For the planning portion of the website, I’ve chosen to incorporate a survey form for students to fill out to understand their prior knowledge of research. Many students feel that they have already done what I am going to teach them, however, research comes in many levels and the level to which I require them to complete is very different than what they have done in the past. We’ll be able to review the information that they give in order to showcase what research can be. Following that discussion, I plan on having students use the Blendspace that I created to explore the 8 steps of the Pennridge research process. That way, they will understand the terms and have some knowledge
These two modules demonstrate components of suggestions made by Ko and Rossen (2017) and Ragan (2017) of the practices that are best used when conducting a blended or online course. Although MIT’s course is described as a blended learning environment, Saylor Academy’s course is solely facilitated online; the two share many similarities and few differences. Besides the contrast of the learning environment each course final assessment of learning competencies is different, i.e. MIT: portfolio submission versus Saylor Academy: password-protected timed final exam. Furthermore, MIT provides students the opportunity to collaborate, discuss, and learn independently as students reflect in blogs about classroom observations and through written assessments. This approach is unlike Saylor Academy’s asynchronous, independent study, knowledge base – through recall approach learning opportunity for students.
The purpose of this assignment is to discuss the contribution of reflective practice for clinical nursing. Reflection has been defined as a way for individuals to “capture their experience, think about it, mull it over and evaluate” (Boud et al 1985: 19)
The following recommendations follow the frameworks of aligning usability to the needs of students, ensuring their learning goals are met by using course design to as a scaffold-based learning strategy, tailoring course content to their specific needs (Najjar, 2008). The greater the usability fo course materials, the more effectively instructors will be able to create tailored learning programs that are aligned to the unique strengths and weaknesses of the student (Najjar, 2008). The first recommendation is to concentrate on creating a usability framework and methodology that promotes and encourages the creation of scaffolding strategies across the wide spectrum of students. Relying on usability
Besides INFO 241, I’m also taking Professor Kemp’s INFO 251 - Web Usability course. Though it’s only the third week, there’s already been some great synthesis between what I’m doing here, in INFO 240, on the back end and what I’m doing there, in INFO 251, on the design end. There’s a unique sense of gratification that comes from seeing your classes meld together to become one super class, like winning at Connect Four or watching robot lions transform into Voltron.
Islam has a religion that is known in the United States as a “terroristic religion”, but according to Reflections, written by Gai Eaton, it is not a religion that some people think it is. It is impossible for Islam to be a terroristic religion because it is a religion based on finding peace, God loves beauty, and it is a religion of love and knowledge. The religion of Islam can not focus on anger at outside targets because they practice love, five pillars, and give to those less fortunate. The religion of Islam is based on peace. “Islam – the very word implies ‘peace’ – aims at a state of equilibrium in society and with men himself” (Reflections, page 15).
This is a reflective essay based on my experience whilst on my external placement in one of the local community hospital. I have chosen this incident specially as I used my communication skills and interpersonal skills when caring for a patient who is suffering from advanced dementia. I will be using Gibbs (1988) reflective model to structure my essay by allowing me to look at the incident from a number of perspectives. Reflection is concerned with consciously looking at, thinking about the experience, actions, feelings and responses and then interpreting or analysing them in order to learn from them (Atkins and Murphy, 1994). Reflection helps me to think about, plan and deliver high quality and safe care to my patients as a nursing associate (RCN website).
This semester I learned a lot about writing in English 151. It has been a roller coaster ride with these essays for me this semester. I learned step by step how to write a good essay and how to have your readers be engaged in what you’re trying to tell them. Each essay I did has taught me something valuable I can take to the next level of English. I feel as if as the semester went by I did not take my writing that seriously and that reflected in my grades I received in each essay. It made me a better student and writer and it will reflect next semester. In this essay, I will reflect on what I learned throughout this semester that you should apply in your writing when you begin English 151.
Once I had my topic I moved on to creating a design plan for the course. I had a bit of trouble trying to decide what needed to be included and picturing the completed course. I was also unsure of the
No prior knowledge is required due to the fact that this site is entirely for new and current participants in the educational system. It is very easy to access ideas, videos, and projects in the classroom setting.
I have a long-standing interest in studying collective flow and particle correlations in AA collisions, and have made several original contributions. Motivated by a conjectured universal lower bound of $1/4\pi$ on the shear viscosity to entropy density ratio ($\eta$/s) for all quantum fluids from the string theory, one main theme of the field is to precisely determine the $\eta$/s value of the QGP fluid from measurements of collective flow and azimuthal correlations. In extracting the $\eta$/s value from data, theoretical modeling of the QGP's initial shape presents the largest uncertainty and requires additional constraints.
In many classrooms today, the use of technology is becoming more popular in the classrooms. Many teachers are incorporating the use of technology into their lessons and methods of teaching. One way to introduce technology into your classroom is to create a WebQuest.
For us as Christians to stay in accordance with God it is vital to stay educated on theology.as long as we continue to educated on theology ourselves. As long as we continue to educate ourselves and keep the scriptures hidden in our hearts, It will be less difficult to witness to non-believers and to loose focus. In addition to the benefit of not losing focus reading the bible can also let us be sure that Jesus in fact will return a second time. Although we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). This doesn’t give us an excuse to live our lives as christians anyway we wish. Once we have a strong foundation in Christ we can use our churches in many ways to help carry out the great commission.
When I designed my course site, it might look a little different than what others use because what happens more happens each day in our virtual classroom (web conference). The course site is used for turning in work, collaboration, resource collection, help with homework, a place where assignments can be place, and a common place where all students teachers can go.
A classroom website can be a valuable tool within a classroom. Having a classroom website provides students with literacy, history, science, and math skill practice. It also increases their opportunities to read, write and exchange ideas with others, and extended learning experiences across the curriculum. Classroom website is engaging and allows more interaction among teachers, parents, and students. A classroom website acts as a portal for learning and enhancing skills (Holcomb, L.B., Castek, J.M., & Johnson, P.R.; 2007). I will use a classroom website in my classroom and curriculum to provide educational website links, assignments, lessons, announcements, a discussion board, and a link for grades. Parents and students will be able to go on and get needed information to help them with questions and concerns regarding academics. Interactive
In class so far we have went over skills such as critical thinking, critical reading, inclusive language, paragraph development, summarizing, and rhetorical analysis. The purpose and application of critical thinking involves looking at both sides of an argument and properly evaluating which one you think is best. Critical thinking as well as critical reading go hand-in-hand. Inclusive language was brought to the forefront in order for us to recognize and apply to our writings that for example, women and men can both be nurses, women and men can both be apart of the police force and that “policeman” is not correct in cases as well as the word “nurse” just being referred to as a woman. For paragraph development we learned what goes into a paragraph in certain papers, for example, in our argumentative essay papers for Cornerstone each paragraph should build on a specific portion of our thesis statements. Summarizing simply revolves around the root of the word, summary. Summarize the topic at hand non-subjectively while pulling out the main key-points and main ideas. Rhetorical analysis came after summarizing and it is similar to summarizing, however, in a rhetorical analysis you include way less summary and more subjectivity as you are imposing your thoughts on certain things (tone, arguments, perspectives, etc.) on the reading you are writing your rhetorical analysis on. Personally for me, I have already learned these skills and I am just honing them for the college level. In
