The first program I will be reflecting on is that of the Interior Design Field. Interior design has adapted over the past 100 years from basic decoration to now highly skilled and thought out interior spaces that affect the everyday people who experience the space. What I like most about this major is its ability to connect with the human environment. The way it changes your perspective on the building from the inside out. I also enjoy the limitless field of opportunity available, from home to corporate headquarters interior designers are hired every day to make spaces comfortable and unique. The firm O’neil Langan Architects, whose primary focus is on the design of retail space, focuses on connection and overall look. After looking …show more content…
Architecture of course is all around us in all different style and mediums. All designed by a person with an idea. Architecture can be recognized as the leading principle of design. At Aufgang architects they work primarily within this principle creating mostly residential apartments in New York. Their architectural style is modern and is very unique to the area and place at which they are developing. My favorite project that their are completing is called simply 200 Water Street & 181 Front Street located in new york city. It is a very modern and structured projected combined with similar styles of their past projects. I could see myself not as an architect but rather working with architects in the developmental sense. Working on the interior and developing the space. White i like most about architecture as a major are the many different developments of design that you explore through the career. As well as the many opportunities that you have available to you through architecture career wse from historic preservations, to towering skyscrapers that fill the skyline. Architecture now is moving through a more modern diversified stage in history and the student who pick this as their major while have a wide variety of opportunity. No longer is architecture a drafting farm in a office building, but now it's rather a collaborative process for the betterment of clients and the environments around us. 3. What campus programs have you participated in/attended? What has been the most enjoyable program thus far & why?
Coming from a small town on the east coast, I would have never expected to fall in love with such a large and diverse college like the University of Michigan. The upbeat atmosphere of Ann Arbor alone was enticing enough before I even saw the actual campus. Upon visiting, I quickly realized the University of Michigan was a place I would not mind spending my next couple of years. From the countless students all around to the wide variety of shops in town, Ann Arbor seemed like a lively and exciting place to spend my college experience. While walking through the campus, I was continuously amazed by the large intricate buildings surrounding me. Some of my favorites included the Law Library, the College of LSA and the Michigan Union. While I do not plan on attending it, the Ross School of Business was also an incredible
Hello all. Sean Gross is the name, architecture is the game. I have been in the Bachelor of Architecture program at BAC for three semesters, this being the fourth. I was born in Georgia, the state not the country and after completing high school there I decided to venture up to Boston for college. An interesting thing about myself is that unlike most who pursued sports during their early schooling, I instead took Martial Arts, progressing through the belt ranks over the course of twelve years. Though I consider myself to be well versed, there is still room for improvement in the realm of speaking publicly to other individuals.
Career shadow day was a great opportunity that made me question possible careers for myself. I shadowed Sean Spotts, an employee at Siemens Industry Inc. He is a Mechanical Engineer, or someone who applies physics and material science to design or maintenance of mechanical systems. Even though he is not in my goal career of architecture, through him, I got a glimpse of how mechanical engineering and architecture can go hand in hand. I shadowed him during a trade show on April 27th. After shadowing Sean Spotts and seeing his work life, I have come to the conclusion that architecture is more than just design, but also has components of engineering, a fact I am sound with.
As a developing and growing student, I realize that I need a plan for success, even though that plan may change. At Indiana University Bloomington, I plan to study in the School of Art and Design in order to eventually become an interior designer. While I may change my career choice and area of study, my drive and dedication to achieve excellence will never waver. However, that does not mean that I will not face challenges along the way.
The second portion was the education program that they have here at Methodist University. I came to this university having no idea what I wanted to do post grad. I was so skeptical on picking a major because I was not sure what my ambition was after graduation. This is when I discover a major called digital forensics and cyber security. I found a knack for electronics and the forensics aspects behind it.
One of the events I attended this semester that stuck out to me was the exploring Majors Fair. As a first-year student, I believe the exposure to different majors was one of the best decides I am made so far. I came into Northern Illinois University being an undeclared major, but having the mindset working in a field of computer science primarily, computer programming. It was a different experience for me, I been to fairs in high school that emphasize the importance of finding the right career choice and sticking to it until the very end. Before attending the fair, I was very ignorant on the subjects how many majors are actually provided here at Northern. I honestly didn’t even know that the university was broken down into a sub-category of colleges. So, you can imagine how much I learned from the exploring major fair. When I step through those doors into Duke Ellington Ballroom, I was shocked to see so many different tables filled with endless information about education, technology, history, and hundreds more.
What appealed me most about fashion design and product development is the concept, in my eyes fashion is “walking art”, it is a mixture of the oldest fashion to today’s latest trends. I love the fact that I can be so diverse and creative with my designs. Adding a new piece, changing the color or even making something that hasn’t even be thought of. I love being different, having out of the box, off the all ideas. I love making beautiful clothes and mix matching clothes together. I’m also going to double my major with Business management. the reason why I’m deciding to do that is because I’ve always wanted to own my own business and to be my own boss, it’s a big dream of mine. I read into the course and what it has to offer me and it was so direct and straight to the point, teaching you everything you need to know before getting into the industry. What really stood out to me is the 95% rate of the business management graduates that found a job right after graduation. To me that’s amazing! It’s also another big reason why I decided to double my major.
I selected architecture as my career. It involves a lot of my passions such as math, building, algebra, and designing. Architecture can mean: A general term to describe buildings and other physical structures.
Architecture should be nurturing, responsive and alive, dynamically shifting spatial balances, organically expressive forms, subtly luminous colors and biologically healthy. To achieve such life-enhancing architecture, it has to address all the body senses simultaneously and fuse our image of self with experience of the world. By strengthening our sense of self and reality, architecture serves its all-important function of accommodation and
My studies at Kean University will have prepared me for anything difficult in my career. When I learned there was a student book club in my school, I joined my freshman year and within that one year, I was made President my sophomore year and as of today, I am still president. Being president of a club is a lot of behind the scenes work like staying up reading to make sure there are discussion questions or topics that will carry through an hour long meeting, baking treats for students and librarians to enjoy, and making sure everyone comes back for the next meeting. Leadership is one of the traits I can honestly say I have. I always welcome a challenge that makes my brain solve problems in unexpected ways. There are so many possibilities in design that I can hardly fathom all the directions my career could go. Overall, I am open to any kind of interior design employment that could result in creating spaces with greater
The Master of Architecture II program at Yale is a stepping stone to extrinsically validate the architectural discipline and profession in that I believe. Imagine a theory class under Peter Eisenman’s informative yet humorous guidance. Imagine working with Tod Williams and Billie Tsien in an Advanced Studio and ending up working at their firm right after graduation. Imagine developing revolutionary projects in my own practice with brilliant minds I got to meet thanks to the intensive networking opportunities at
Architects are licensed professionals trained in the art, and science of building design. This means the overall artistic appreciation, plus the functional look of buildings, or other structures. They design the overall aesthetic.
Architecture can be viewed with two different types of properties. Properties that can be seen like shapes, their composition, the spaces they create and, the colours and textures that make up their appearance. These properties are considered to be visual while other properties are considered to be abstract. These properties can only be described using words; the meanings behind the architecture and the stories that can be told about it. The context, its cultural background and its function also affects how we view architecture. The question is, what
Ever since I was young, I have admired intricate buildings and structures. I have always appreciated a nice, well thought out home because I do believe home is where the heart is. I have done lots of research on architecture, and what it takes to become an architect. I am naturally drawn to this career because it requires lots of creativity and an eye for design. Being an architect also allows you to interact with people, which is important to me because I am a social person. It also is a steady job and brings in a good salary.
