Today I chose to interview the honorable Ramona Salvarez. Me: How is your role in the government different from an elected officer? Ramona Salvarez: I am a federal circuit judge, which is pretty similar to an elected official, since I was appointed by a democratic president. But, if there was a difference it's probably my experience level. Me: How is it the same? Ramona Salvarez: Everything is pretty much the same, not much is different from an elected officer. Me: Do you think judges should be elected? Explain why or why not. Ramona Salvarez: I do believe that judges should be elected. Most people are not designed to be judges, it's not their cup of tea. That's why I think it's best for someone to know what they're doing and can actually
Monica Stonier, State Representative for the 49th Legislative District in Vancouver, Washington is an unusual politician. Why? Because her day job is teaching.
I personally agree with the PBS Frontline episode in that partisan elections can promote corruption in the political world. Thus, I do not believe that partisan elections is a good way of selecting judges. Due to its structure, judges are elected by the people based on their likeability/appeal and political party affiliation, aspects I do not think should be the primary reasons to vote in a judge. Rather, the judge should be judged and elected based on their character and accountability as a political figurehead. Citizens want a reliable, impartial, and sustaining judge who is able to make the right decision based on the laws and current facts provided. How can a judge be impartial when working a case if a lawyer present donated a large sum to his campaign during election? I, along with the public, do not think the judge could be impartial as evident by the poll taken and found that 83% of the public believe judges are influenced by outside campaign contributions (PBS Frontline). This is the same concept found in the baseball reference of allowing an umpire, who has been paid by baseball players, to impartially referee a game (PBS Frontline). In both situations, I do not believe the judges would be able to fairly and neutrally preside over the case, making the system potentially corrupt over time and not a preferred method of selecting judges.
Kenia Calderon has been an active leader since 2013, when she became vocal about her lack of legal status to improve the lives of the undocumented youth in Des Moines. Over the last four years, she has met undocumented high schoolers to motivate and guide them as they navigate the higher education system. Her fight for civil rights include fighting for low income families to have access financial institutions, access to higher education, and standing with street vendors as they fought for their rights at the city level. Kenia has lobbied for different causes that affect the most vulnerable in our city. She lobbied for credit unions to not be regulated like banks because these financial institutions have efforts around serving the unbanked
In this case, Susan who is Latino and who was raised in the Catholic religion and later during college she had joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS). As a nurse caring for Susan, I would want to make sure that, her need as a Latino woman, as well as, a member of the LDS religion are being meet. In the Latino culture family is consideration to be at the very center and plays a very important role in choosing health care provider, as well as, making medical decision. In a traditional Latino family women are the main source, which holds the family together. In addition, when dealing with Hispanic patients, they are less likely to admit to being depressed, due to the negative stigma, that it involves (Rodriguez, 2002).

The person running for governor needs to be at least 30, he or she needs to be a US citizen, and they need to have been a resident of New Mexico consistently for five years on the day of the election (Governor of New Mexico, 2014). In 2010 Susana Martinez ran for this position. She met all of the requirements and her name was placed on the ballot. Susana is a republican and she promised things such as: a strict policy on illegal immigration, improving education in public schools, cut wasteful spending, and to lower taxes to create more jobs (Mora, 2010). These things ultimately got her elected. Susana has been in office for four years now and is preparing to run again to keep her position as governor of New Mexico. Most people would say that Susana’s biggest downfall was her derogatory words and degrading remarks regarding the teachers in New
I had a feeling you would respond aunt Ramona Aceves because your in the field. I just believe you don't have to be apart of war or apart of any police department to know that killing is wrong. Being someone who was molested and harassed by an officer for no reason other then my cars license plate was typed in wrong and came up as stolen a few years back, I know that there are still bad cops in the world and although I hate that these bad ones seem to out way the good ones....they do. That's the police departments fault for not taking action on the several that suffer from some sort of PTS and still legally hold a gone. Things escalate too quickly these days. My dad said in the old school days people would just get beat with batons and pepper

For some seeing is believing, but for a militant atheist that may not be the case. Eighteen year old Adrian Luz is a freshman at Yale University. His life seeme to be on a healthy course after surviving child abuse until he starts to see spirits. It started after a ritual, he overheard while at his ex-girlfriend’s house. The vengeful spirits torment his mind and pressure him to let them in. As the school year passes it gets harder for him to rationalize what he is experiencing. His alternative explanation is the episodes are relative to his Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Yet, he is in denial about being mentally ill. Adrian must learn to cope with his psychosis or shift his views about the
Bringing in new judges will allow for different thought patterns and views on certain problems. In addition, “a different perspective can permit you to more fully understand the arguments that are before you and help you articulate your position in a way that everyone will understand” (Sotomayor, 2016). Furthermore, newer judges would relieve others of the concern that the judges are unfortunately unable to keep up with the current society and their needs. As a result, newer judges will be able to notice the issues that the current society may be needed to be
There are many problems in the world and i’m exposing them. The first problem is that some schools or maybe even all of them have no urinal wall. The last problem I have in my mind is animal abuse. Those are the problems I have with the community today.

How is your role in government the same as an elected official? My role is the mostly the same as an elected official because we both have the power to check each other’s (checks and balances) to make sure that we are all doing our part and none of us how more power than the other.
