In Jack London’s classic story, “To Build a Fire” the main character learns an important value on pride and arrogance. Unluckily, he learned this lesson by losing his life. His pride and arrogance led him to arctic conditions that limited him from building a fire resulting in his death. Had he listened to the wise man and to others, by not traveling out into the deathly conditions, he could’ve survived. Adding insult to injury, the canine instincts his companion gave him were warning enough that traveling in these conditions were far too dangerous. Just like London’s story, arrogance and pride are so common in today’s classrooms, students believe social media is more important than actual learning. The student on facebook, for example, may be unaware that the student behind him/her is trying to study for an upcoming exam and the constant notification of the app is disturbing. Technology is all around us and will not cease to keep growing. Walking into a high school or college class, chances are, a good percentage of students might be on their phones. …show more content…

A lot of students prefer the comfort of learning on their own, rather than with their peers, which is one of the biggest benefits of online education. Due to the fact that all teacher are not the same, different teaching methods and speeds, onlines classes gives the student the advantage to go at their own pace and time to digest the material. Chapters and assignments are emailed to the student, for which are given a guideline to be completed. Most will agree that having to not fight traffic and look for parking spots are two less stressors you don't have to deal while taking online courses. Online education has a plethora of subjects that students can enroll in to further their education that some colleges or universities might not
