College students may be torn between not knowing whether they should forward their education on a traditional college campus or the alternative, online classes. There are several more reasons why students should chose to go to a traditional college campus. In order for college students to receive the best education that they possibly can, traditional face-to-face schooling is a much better choice than online schooling.
With face-to-face schooling, students get the full college experience from meeting new people, going to special events on campus, and being able to go and talk to a professor or tutor in person. Students who chose to learn by online schooling may feel alone and isolated. Traditional schools provide students with the ability to

In order for students to be able to take college courses online, they need some type of way to organize themselves and push themselves finish their work since their teachers really can’t (Bird). In a physical classroom, teachers are able to move around and be able to answers questions right then and there, but with online schooling students would have to wait a while to get a response from their teachers if they have questions (“Key”). The dropout rate for online schooling in very high, mostly because students don’t know how to prioritize their school schedule and don’t know how to be self motivated (Bejarano). Online schooling can be very convenient for students that have a job or family that is their number one commitment. Students can log into their course whenever the time is best for them instead of having a set time for a class every week (Bird). Some students find online education appealing since students can learn at their own pace. According to a study done by Potomac University, “77% of educators believe that online learning is just as good as traditional leaning, if not better” (“Online”). Online learning is also inexpensive. Online classes are much more inexpensive than traditional classes. Online degrees can cost up to 80 times less than traditional degrees. Traditional degrees average cost is around $85,000, while online degrees average cost is around $30,000 (“Online”). Online education does offer lots of options for students. In order for college students to receive the best education that they possibly can, traditional face-to-face schooling is a better choice than online schooling. College students deserve to receive the best possible education for them, and traditional face-to-face schooling will allow them to get just that. There is no reason that they should be bereft of a quality education. Traditional face-to-face schooling is proven to be more effective than online schooling and that’s why so many more people prefer traditional schooling. The quality of the
A lot of students prefer the comfort of learning on their own, rather than with their peers, which is one of the biggest benefits of online education. Due to the fact that all teacher are not the same, different teaching methods and speeds, onlines classes gives the student the advantage to go at their own pace and time to digest the material. Chapters and assignments are emailed to the student, for which are given a guideline to be completed. Most will agree that having to not fight traffic and look for parking spots are two less stressors you don't have to deal while taking online courses. Online education has a plethora of subjects that students can enroll in to further their education that some colleges or universities might not
The Internet has dramatically changed the world today as much as the Industrial Revolution changed the world two centuries ago. It revolutionized many fields such as education. Many educational institutions offer online courses providing time, distance, and place advantages for learners who work full time or live miles away from their schools. Rachel Farhi, an editor of The Daily Cougar, in her article “Online education innovators should be wary,” states that distance learning classes give students from disadvantaged areas opportunities to learn knowledge through reducing the cost. On the other hand, online courses bring some disadvantages, such as no social interaction, academic dishonesty, and procrastination. David Smith, an editor of The Daily Nebraskan, in his article “Reliance on online materials hinders learning potential for students,” claims that web-based learning cannot be a substitute for on-campus classes because e-learning decreases students’ learning pressure and motivation. Once students have less pressure to study, their academic performance may be negatively influenced. It is more likely that online education decreases students’ learning effectiveness and quality, even though it provides convenience and cost efficiency for them. After reading the two articles, I do not think that online education is as good as traditional education. Smith is absolutely right that online education is not as effective as regular classroom
Online schooling is no more considered a lesser road for acquiring a degree. In today's bustling surroundings conventional schooling is now and again impossible. People have duties of full time occupations and families that won't permit them to go to school full time for a long time to pick up an education. This is transforming online degrees into a practical better choice for some people who need a degree without putting their life on hold to do it.
Online education is helping many students get a better education. This can be for many reasons. Some reasons could include things like a more flexible schedule. Of course their are some that believe that online schools are not a good option because they do not offer students face to face time with teachers, but online schools can be a great way to educate the children of tomorrow because it allows for students in rural areas to get the same education as somebody in the city and the flexible nature of online school allows students to have more time to be with their family, friends and to do the activities they love.
I’ve experienced the differences between online school and traditional public school. The classroom setting was not a good fit and was very distracting. It was extremely difficult for me to learn and receive the proper information I needed to do well. I was unable to learn because of the fast pace, I and often had difficulty paying attention and keeping up with the assignments. However, the motivation the teachers gave me was tremendously helpful while I was
One example of how online schools can improve student learning was shown in a study by the SRI international department of education. The researcher Steve Lohr conducted a study on mostly college students from the years 1996 to 2008. The researcher performed a quantitative analysis of online versus classroom performance for the same courses. The results for students taking online courses showed that they ranked in the 59th percentile compared to students who took the same courses in traditional schools ranked in the 50th percentile. These results showed that there was a 9 percent difference in the tested performance of college students which indicated that students learn more effectively in online schools versus traditional schools. This example supports the claim that online schools enhance student learning more effectively than traditional schools. In addition to online schools enhancing student learning it is also beneficial for students in rural areas and for introverted students. Students in rural areas may not be able to afford or have access to transportation which can result in them not being able to attend a traditional school. However if online schools were available each student would have access to education with the click of a button. Also, introverted students can benefit from online schools because they will
There are many advantages to taking online classes rather than traditional college classes. One cause of students taking online classes is that they are much easier to fit into busy schedules. Online classes give students options to plan their classes and study times around the rest of their day. For instance, if a student has a job the material is always available no matter what time of the day it is. This allows the student to complete his or her class work at any time needed. Another advantage of having materials available online at all times is that students never have to schedule special trips to the library to complete assignments. Most online degrees do not require electives which means you can take the minimum amount of classes you need and still have time for other activities. The flexibility of
There are others, like myself, who feel that online learning is better. The supporters of this back their claim by stating that online classes can be more beneficial for teachers and students. For example, fewer distractions in a classroom like other students disrupting class. Students can come into class late after the teacher has already started class and cause a disruption or talk during the class. With online classes the student can control their environment. Also, a teacher can provide in writing just the basic information a student needs for an assignment. This way there is less of a chance for the student to get confused on the assignment when the topic
Online classes and the traditional classroom setting both offer many of the same advantages. They both provide the student with the same course content so there is no loss of curriculum between the two. Both demand the same time investment for learning, studying, taking exams, completing papers, and so on. Although it seems easy to think that with doing all of your school work online there isn’t any personal interaction with professors and peers, however, that is a common misconception. Online classes, like traditional ones, require a degree of contact with your peers and professors. It may not be as personal interaction as raising your hand and being called on, but you can e-mail your professor at any time and there are discussion boards and forums available for fellow students to communicate and help each other out.
Online courses have started within the past 30 years as a means of learning. With increases in Internet use, many U.S. schools offer online classes. Because of the main disparities amid online course and face to face instruction, numerous questions have been brought forth in regard to the quality of online courses. This research will help American college students to understand the difference between online classes and face-to-face courses, and give them an idea that how effective that online classes are. Therefore, the leading research question of this study is what advantages and disadvantages of
The positive of online classes is being able to access the class in any free time. Most online classes though, require work to be turned in on certain days and times. Which makes it harder for students to remember when assignments need to be done. The pleasure of the instructor reading/lecturing the textbook material out loud won’t be there. It
People can take online courses these days. It is a chance for most people to get online courses on their own place. Students have the capacity to look over many diverse programs that would help them with their needs. Nowadays, most of the programs are available online from each department like business, management, and information technology. Additionally, students can browse different sorts of degree. The online courses have lower costs since they do not buy textbooks; they can downloads all assignments and all different materials that are required for their classes. Another benefit of these online classes is saving time since students do not have to attend classes, so they might have more time to do their assignments and study. Online classes evacuate the anxiety by permitting learners to study when it is helpful for most learners would like to study at different time. Likewise, students at schools have to take their exams and quizzes on the day their instructor planned for , but
Before technology became so advanced it was standard that a college bound person go to their choice and take classes at the university. Since then online classes has started to become on the rise giving students a choice. For those who do not like the whole classroom set up gives students option to go online while still attending you university of your dreams. Another way it helps for students. Those who are strict on time everyone has a schedule some might have more on their agenda than other which does not help if they have to the college site after work to fix this problem is online. Most students find courses online better than in-class learning. Now even some schools are saying yes to online learning! It is a big money saver because the school or college will not have to employ thousands of
Time for a face to face class is very difficult if a person works 40 hours a week but an online course can put an ease on the time restriction because the person does the work at their own pace and time. It is also easier to sign up for an online class than a class at a college. Message boards are in use if the students need to leave a question or a comment about the subject their on. They also save time by not traveling to the college and trying to find a parking space.
