Originally founded in 1996, by Kenneth Serwinski, CEO, and Robert Gross, Senior Managing Director, Prairie Capital have handled mainly private companies providing them with independent advice and personalized service to help them meet their objectives and maximize shareholder value. During the first year, the company’s main focus was finding business. They had to identify who their customer base would be and what the best way to sell them was. Once Prairie capital found a sustainable amount of business their focus shifted to finding the finest employees. To maintain the company’s excellent service, Serwinski knew he needed to locate first-rate employees that were honorable people. “To maintain our success we needed enough good people, who worked hard and cared about what they did. I previously thought that to be successful you had to possess a specific skill set to perform the job you wanted. However, I learned that no matter what position you obtain the most important skill you need is communication. Communication allows you to learn the information needed to perform a job. From asking the right questions to listening to those around you, appropriate communication can mean the difference between doing a good job versus doing a great job. In Ken’s case, he had to communicate with a various amount of people to build a solid foundation for his company to build from.
